What would you charge for this clean up job? Christmas came early for this client!

- This job was a few weeks in the making! Some time ago, I did a 'free' yard clean up for this client, however I was not able to get into the pool area to tackle some wild vegetation! I finally got in, and had some help from an old friend.

You have tackled some pretty awful things before, but that pool is the stuff of nightmares. It was fun to hear the interaction between you and your friend, and it was wonderful to hear you giggle and laugh in the midst of that horror. Have a happy and safe Holiday season.

Perhaps a generous Patreon supporter. Had I the funds, I would be glad to step in. Perhaps Sean could give us a approximate $AUS amount to do it up properly....we might be able to spread the cost!
As great as that would be, there's no way such a company could do it without some sort of charity backing. Pools are all-around expensive. To refinish, kill off bacteria, pH stabilize, you name it... All that stuff is miiiighty expensive. I doubt I need to explain why bacteria is a bad thing to swim in, but even a slightly-off pH can cause skin irritation. Were it just skill and a handful of tools, I can see it being highly doable. It's primarily the chemical treatments that make pool maintenance so dang expensive. At some point, just breaking the pool out and replacing it with either soil or a natural pond would be cheaper and safer.

Hopefully someday the client will be able to get the pool drained, washed and refilled for use. Great job Sean from trying to clean that up. It made for great entertainment, but I was waiting for someone to fall in on camera.

I want to see the pool returned to full operation. Pressure wash the surrounding paving, slap some creative colours on that wooden shed and with some nice lounge chairs and a sunshade, you have your own little Hamilton Island or Caribbean retreat. The palm trees are already there.
It seems like you'd need a small excavator to dig all that "stuff" out. What a job!
Totally agree with you. That's insane wasting hours of their time to tackle the pool by hand.
what you do is "priceless" to those less fortunate.. noone can put a price on a gift of generousity from the heart..

That’s got to be the smallest pool I’ve ever seen. BUT…that stinky mud is some GOOD soil. They should use that for their lawn/plants. Great job!

That pool looked like The Everglades…a tropical wetlands in southern Florida! It defeated you, partly, but you’ll get the best of it when it dries out. Another great video, and you and your family…and Scott…have a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year!

Thanks, Brian. If we could have brought a flame thrower to purge the pool, I would have been a happy man. Sean's client, on the other hand, may not have been.
I think renting a mini excavator with a grabber claw would have saved you a lot of trouble draining it is just lowering the debris to a unworkable level.
If the two of you big strong men couldn't get that pool cleaned out I don't know who they could get to do it. It's rather sad but you both did a great job getting it to the point you did. I'm sure the people whose home it is will be grateful. Nice job. Thanks for sharing.

I might have tried working a rope under the mat of growth with two poles and then trying to pull it all out with something. Good luck 👍 Shrapnel is a good description of debris thrown especially if it hits your face 😳

You two did the ultimate clean up on volunteer scope level I’ve ever seen. Tackling the pool or that marsh of a pool was definitely beyond the scope of your parameter of good deed. I’m surprised you didn’t encounter a croc and snakes in there. I mean pool companies wouldn’t dare touch that monstrous ordeal unless the price is substantially right. Great job Sean and Scott!! Both of you did this, was above and beyond lawncare services. If I had this clean the pool task, I would have subcontract it out, or research on how to clean pools to standards on TH-cam and do it with my crew at reduced cost just to gain the experience. First thing, would be a large water pump, then a shovel and garden hoe. Secondly, check the pools drainage and plumbing to see if it is clear of debris. If I have any investment property in your area, I would seek your services to manage property on lawncare, if you have time. Job well done!
