  • WITH A PERMIT TOO!! CA is one of the most difficult states to build so it is a huge achievement to finally have a 3D printed house built there, especially considering the natural disasters impacting housing supply.
Emergent 3D believes in the power of construction automation, using their Cobod BOD 2.5 printer and batch plant mixer they are automating the fabrication of wall structures including formwork for structural vertical poured columns featuring traditional rebar cages.

So glad people are finally trying 3D printing in California. It’ll be interesting to see how they survive earthquakes. Masonry doesn’t always do well when the earth moves, but it CAN be done. There are some ancient brick homes in china that have survived multiple earthquakes-they’re unique because the brick courses are laid at angles instead of in horizontal rows

This is so exciting, to see the industry working to be ready for the future building. I sort of think that the babies of today are going to be ready willing and able to come up with designs for their own homes, work and public areas that they can imagine for themselves, and you guys are going to be there in the 2050s to produce their creative ideas. My house burnt down in paradise ca. me and my wife want to buy a house but I have been looking into alternative house building options. I am very interested in the 3d printing of a custom home. Particularly because of the cost I’ve been told it is about half the cost of building a stick built home.
