@@Y0G0FU I want to believe that, but Carl's reaction there didn't feel like the usual Carl troll reaction of genuine delight at being had. Maybe you're right and I'm just reading the situation wrong, but it doesn't feel right. Why did Carl IMMEDIATELY check for the hidden box if he didn't know about it? When I first heard the dono, it just sounded like the meme, not a prompt or invitation to actually do so. Again, maybe I'm reading it wrong, but that moment didn't feel like a genuine "Carl got trolled" moment that we're used to seeing. Although maybe it was different because it was at an AGDQ event? Idk. His reaction to some of the other trolls they got him with felt more genuine to me, but that one felt slightly off.
Karl is amazing. You can tell he didn't fully get his voice back yet he pushed through it to give us qn amazing showcase
It suckeddddddd I could barely speak at all until 3 days before the run, I drank like 50 cups of honey lemon tea and thankfully only coughed once during the run. My body loves coughing for an entire month after being sick for some reason hffkeoqhdbfoepwnd
But, it came back to life juuuust in time

At the same time it's fascinating to me and I wanna learn more about why this is the case. Welp, gotta dive into some more science I guess!

@@CarlSagan42ever since I got covid in 21, I have a cough for just an excessive amount of time after getting a cold. I got a small cold during thanksgiving and still have a cough that creeps up a few times a day
The broken hard-locked titlecreen with the music is just a perfect ending to me.
Carl made a whole level themed around this hardlock. Then he went around to streamers playing the level and tricked them into building this title screen and hardlocking at the title screen.
Fortunately the game only loads the level once for the title screen.

The whack-a-goomba room was definitely the highlight of this for me. A really cute little Geek reference, followed immediately by live trolling. It's amazing how the troll community can be so toxic and so wholesome at the same time
Bearware is extremely nice in person which even I was somewhat shocked by hahaha
I think it's like kayfabe, they get all their aggression out through the troll levels
I can confirm the Larl surprises are real, I was sitting in the gaming room watching them polish up the levels, practicing commentary (w/o those extra surprises). And when Carl went away, they had a different switch ready with the "real" levels.
We forgot to say the maker code on stream but the levels are up at B8Q-MXG-FDG. No guarantee how long they'll stay up though.
despite already knowing about most of these glitches from watching lots of carl, i'll never underestimate carl's ability to put on a good show, with the help of banned wagon ofc putting together a cohesive and entertaining way to show off tons of these cool and funny glitches one after another. glad i was able to catch this live, and so cool that gdq got to 1 mil during this run
Nintendo really just need to embrace the glitches at this point. It's not like they're putting anymore effort into patching MM2
They should add glitch and troll tag.
I could see leaving them out of normal runs, but I don't get banning them.
They only fired the entire dev team - surely there will be an update soon
The problem with glitches is that you can make a basically impossible level. But you can also do this vanilla if you really want, so there's no reason to ban them
@@DukasFigulirasThat's a good point actually, I hadn't thought of that. You can just put a super-hidden dev path or a passcode lock to make a level virtually impossible, so glitches aren't really that different. If you put it that way, it doesn't really make sense why Nintendo removes them...

it's amazing that halfway through these levels they actually snuck in actual trolls that Carl wasn't aware of. Makes the experience even better.
Using that complex 'launch' glitch to seemingly switch Mario's and a mob's places (and make Mario disappear)... genius. That showcase blew my mind so many times! So cool!
The levels being changed between practice and AGDQ is such a meta troll thing to do, I love it

its honestly so interesting to me to see people just take apart video games and do things even the developers didn't know you could do.
The broken track glitch is a great example of that, the amount of dedication it took to find every little behavior it has is just inspiring.

Changing the levels from practice to actual performance to troll Carl shows incredible talent from the creators and from Carl to make sure everything works properly and to roll with the punches. Y’all are S-tier.

Karl and Mario Maker give me the most innocent form of joy I feel these days in my 30s. Seeing a crowd of silly nerds whole heartedly embrace doing the bowser dance, this is what gaming is about.

I was literally laughing out loud while waiting in line at a grocery store checkout. 10/10 would be considered crazy again.
I feel like we're reaching the peak of the final years of MM2 and it's making me tear up. I can't help but think about how amazing this community has been. I can't believe I'm this emotional about MM2 but this community is just... I have no words. I have seen a plethora of communities come and go, from MMOs to virtually anything, and not many come close to the closeness and warmness of the MM community. You are all sincerely the best.

I got to watch this live at AGDQ and it was easily one of the best moments that week. The room was packed, everyone was laughing. There was a positive energy in the room. I randomly decided to play popular levels today and found these levels. I figured I would look them up and here I am lol. These levels were amazing to see how these glitches work.
Carl, no joke. Hearing a PHD....?(feel like I have heard him say this, not 100% sure though) Micro-Biologist make an analogy between a Mario Maker 2 "warp" setup and the HPV vaccine might be the coolest thing I have ever listened to. What are you currently working on? Can I donate to allow this mind to further it's potential?
I've finished working on a norovirus vaccine project, am advising a startup on a more broadly protective HPV vaccine, and am trying to get a new job studying a cheaper vaccine delivery system.
Couldnt agree more Carl. Out of All communities I know and have been a part of the Troll Community has by far been the most welcoming and wholesome despite their constant need and want to push each other into a hole to laugh about it after. Its always in good fun and spirit and I am so happy that I got to be a part of this community through finding your channel. Tanuki Dan, Geek and so many more to even mention. I feel if I did I would end up writing a whole essay down here lol. But its just fun all around.

Loved watching this live! I absolutely love the mario maker community. I'm so glad I discovered this channel 6 years ago (and then rediscovered it again after not watching for a bit), and then from this channel I've started watching a bunch of other people including Geek, Tanuki Dan, and Defender
I'm actually working on a troll level myself at the moment, and I can't tell if it's trash or not lol but it is fun. I don't know if we'll ever see a mario maker 3, but even if we don't the community will last forever. I have had so much fun watching people get bodied in the funniest ways possible in videos and live on streams, and I have many great memories related to mario maker.
I definitely want to thank the troll community and particularly you carl, I love these videos for the mario (and now other games) and the science and the spaghetti and everything. I also love how accepting and cool everyone is, I'm aroace and neurodivergent (and a fellow aphantasiac, which I learned from the video where you shared about your aphantasia) and I love hearing people talk about pride and adhd and mental health stuff and all of that. Thanks to everyone for the good vibes! 👍👍👍
