Hi Ben, awesome content as always! I just have 2 questions and if someone can give me an answer I would appreciate!! 1. Can you start your Mortgage broker company with a MLO license or do you need an extra license ? 2. While working under a mortgage broker company, I know that you are paid a percentage of the loan but do you give a part of your commission to your mortgage broker ?
You will also need an additional brokers license on top of the mlo. & for compensation since it’s a brokerage, the bank pays you a certain %. The office takes a % also including the processing fees etc
@@cesarq6011 Yes it's all different depending on which lender is used along with their promotions and of course what the brokerage takes can vary as well, they typically will start you off at a lower percentage but some a flat rate and as you continue more sales the percentage will increase until a plateau.
BEN! I've been a LO for a little over a year now. Just moved to a new state, and literally do not know anyone out side of my wifes' family. Whats your advise on earning business if living in an unfamiliar area and unfamiliar with the community? So far I have just been using media platforms, and reaching out to family members to try and get some business. Not a lot coming down the pipeline though.
Hey James! I have zero experience in LO or MLO I'm currently in the process of taking my pre-licensing courses. So I would take my own advice with as a grain of salt. Lol. I think a good way to get new business is to get involved in a church or a similar type of local community. Building real long lasting relationships can open up doors for new business. Also I would go to open houses and introduce myself to realtors, let them know "hey I'm in the neighborhood, you're a realtor, I'm an MLO, lets be friends".
