v2 looks good. Just did my headlights a couple weeks ago and getting the lenses off is a pain with just a heat gun. Long process but looks way better without the chrome.
@JohnNguyenVincent I know its been a while but do you mind telling me how you installed that front lip. I just got the same one and I'm about install soon.
I have a 2013 Model S and this is a must-have for my whip. Sucks I'm on the other side of the country lol. I might need to buy another set and send them off lol.
I literally just started taking these apart last night. Do you guys de-chrome first with sanding or Easy Off/Bleach? I’m doing my second headlight tonight to get it de-chromed and clean off the old seal. I plan to add some plastic adhesive promoter, then some frosted paint. Then tape off those and skip a separate primer and just go straight with the black semi gloss that’s made for plastic. Then clear coat. How long do you wait between everything?
Let me see if Greg can answer that. For this set he did not dechrome. He cleared the original layer. From what I remember he said he let each layer dry overnight throughout the week.
Hey John! Finally got my model s and i really want to do these headlight mods on them. I reached out to grc but no reply. Do you perhaps know what white paint was used for the v2 verision/ how it was doen for that proper white frozen look?
could you help me get in touch with evan? I'm so frustrated with my 2019 model s headlights yellowing drl even after replacement! so so so furstrating! Awesome ride... wish i could be like yours
