Such great advice! Especially to slow down and embrace the journey and mistakes. I think I also get impatient and want to have my style and wardrobe all figured out and perfect right away. Love the reminder to slow down, relax, and enjoy the process.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟This video was EXCELLENT!!! And I especially love your suggestion to take shopping breaks. I couldn't believe it, but when the pandemic caused me to stop shopping for clothes, I LOVED not shopping for clothes!! (I am a bit of a thrift store addict!) 🤣 Great insights.
Thank you so much for this advice. It's wonderfully thought out. I'm starting my wardrobe virtually from scratch after 6 months of losing weight. The temptation to buy lots at once is definitely there but I want to create a sustainable capsule that actually suits me rather than just cover myself up which used to be my main concern.
Hi Louise, thank you for your comment. ❤️ yeah it’s so tempting to rush and buy a whole new wardrobe isn’t it? I hope you have a good experience taking it slow 😊

I made the mistake that thinking I figured my style during - wait for it- a pandemic only to realize I was shopping for my zoom meetings and not stuff I would wear outside in the real world.🤦🏾♀️
@@ValKovalchuk not really- they really are not me. When I started to go out because I am now vaccinated, I could not wear them. The really were for zoom meetings. I learned a lesson though.
Val.... I watched your video earlier and have been thinking about it for a while. I feel like your videos are like poetry. You film in such an artistic style. I am so blown away by your talent. You are so creative. Thank you again. You are pretty amazing. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much, that’s so thoughtful of you to say. I’ve only been doing this for a few months, but it’s been so enjoyable to learn and get better with each video. I’ve been really enjoying this process! ☺️☺️
Yep, been there! Wish I knew all this much earlier..not in my 40s. But better late than never, right? Still learning, but getting better for sure. Loving this journey to minimalism and a sustainable wardrobe :)
There is a lot of focus on individual clothing pieces but what if you just shop per full outfits? Like do you have 4 to 7 full outfits and then you can mix and match or do you just gravitate to the same "favorite" combinations? There is a thing with over-complicating but when i was in highschool i had a uniform and outside of school i just wore what my mom gave me, so i never really got to practise style much. Now in my college years i started a creative study so i could wear whatever i wanted and i tried a lot. Now im going to a more serious study and want to go for buiseness casual, but am also in the process of loosing weight. Feeling like i just want to fit in more instead of standing out like you do in the creative industry. I also have a bit of a rock side to me. It has to be comfotable and practical because things are difficult enough for us as woman.
Buying full outfits that you can later mix and match sound like a great idea actually! Then you already have some outfit combinations in mind when you are getting dressed and it would be less stressful for sure. 😊
Really love your videos! Getting my shopping under control always seemed so daunting for me. Thank you for giving me some tools to figure this all out!
Totally agree about the need to figure out a sustainable shopping strategy that works for you! I have to buy my bottoms in fast fashion because I need tall sizing which ethical brands just don't offer (yet). But everything I can buy from ethical brands or second hand, I will. And buy less overall of course! Which is made easier by advice on wardrobe building like yours :-)
Yes, its not realistic to be perfectly sustainable when our bodies are all so different and have different needs. I think just shopping much less and with a lot of thought and intention is also a sustainable way to live! 😊
For one: I loooove your videos! They’re so beautifully made and so inspiring! Also: (sorry for the question) I can’t get your t-shirt off of my mind you were wearing in the beginning. Could you share were you got it from? Thank you!
Thank you! I’m not sure if you mean the white T-shirt or stripe one? The white one is from Everlane: www.everlane.com/products/womens-organic-cotton-box-cut-pocket-tee-white?locale=US&:pla-318053840145&adgroup=98515037897&pid=7372-53529&device=m&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjqa7oaHj8AIVWiCtBh0TewkzEAQYAiABEgIFU_D_BwE The stripe one is an older Madewell top, but here is a listing on Poshmark: posh.mk/QBcdqNvUwgb
I think you can only find it on the secondhand market right now, it’s an older one from Madewell. Did you see my link above to a Poshmark listing? If not, here’s one: poshmark.com/listing/Striped-TShirt-Madewell-5f8239318da5c96318191bc1
I shop with sustainability in mind from low-price shops like H&M, etc. I just buy natural-fabric items in classic styles and colors that I love, then give them the same loving care as my higher-cost items. I’ve rarely had any issues with quality this way, these things seem to last just as long. I think the most important thing about sustainability is how much wear the item gets during its lifetime. I shop considering everything I buy is a permanent wardrobe item. A polyester item only becomes permanent when it hits the landfill, where it won’t break down for tens of thousands of years, at least. These synthetics have little, if any re-use value to anyone else, should we decide to pass them on. A good-quality linen shirt will be more appealing secondhand than a cheap poly one.
Yes I totally agree with you, I still have a handful of natural fiber H&M pieces that have lasted me years because I've tried to take care of them really well to make them last. It really is a mindset thing.
I like your content, but it’s difficult to understand you. I’m a native English speaker, also from California, but I can’t get about a third of what you’re saying. If you could try to enunciate a little more, and slow down on the brand names, it would really help, thanks. I
I got here by accident because I do woodworking as a hobby, and I want to build a wardrobe.
That’s awesome 😂 I hope you liked it anyways 😅
That’s great, stick around and give some man-input!
That’s hilarious!
I’m so excited to share this video with you guys! I hope you guys find it helpful and can learn from some of my mistakes 😅😊

So many things you mentioned are exactly my experience and how I feel…so very helpful.
I'm so glad you could relate! ❤
Great tips, I love how you identified your goofs in re-doing your wardrobe, I’ve made all of them, too!
Thank you, I hope it will be helpful to anyone else that is starting to redo their wardrobe! Gotta pass on the life lessons 😁
I so can relate to some of these mistakes, buying clothes for my fantasy life and clothes unsuitable for my body shape. I'm still learning ♡
Thanks for your comment Louise! Yes the fantasy life is so tempting, isn't it 😉
You hit on every struggle that I've gone through in building a more practical and smaller wardrobe. Great and informative video! Thank you!

The stripe one is an older Madewell top, but here is a listing on Poshmark: posh.mk/QBcdqNvUwgb
@@ValKovalchuk thank you for the link, I actually ment the striped one. Sorry.
I don‘t want to bother you, I‘m just looking for such a t-shirt all over the internet and can’t find one 🙈
I think you can only find it on the secondhand market right now, it’s an older one from Madewell.
Did you see my link above to a Poshmark listing? If not, here’s one:

Thank you so much 😊
Where did you get your bed frame?
It was originally form Ikea, but we bought it on craigslist many years ago. You could probably still find on the secondhand market 😊
When we was younger, we can't afford H&M.. :)
Thanks for sharing your experience.. Clothing can be so hard sometimes. 😔 Where did you shop growing up?

Thank you for the feedback Kimberly! I'm still learning a lot about filming and making videos, so any feedback is really helpful 😊
I was able to understand her just fine. Try putting on subtitles
Strange but when I sped the video up to 1.5 it became clear.
i am not even a native speaker and i could understand everything perfectly xD
