Utterly hate just about every "hotshot" out there on the road. The most unsafe, and illegal drivers on the road. Even worse than Indian truck drivers. They often run at night to avoid weigh and inspection stations wit fewer eyes on their "trucks" and loads. And doing so, their headlights are always pointed up blinding oncoming drivers cause of all the sag in their rear suspension. They are required to either have a DOT sleeper, or receipts for hotel rooms - but they never do. They sleep in a pickup truck, not getting adequately rested, which again can be life-threatening on the road to everyone around them. Their trucks are not commercial grade for the loads that they frequently carry, and are also a danger controlling loads down steep grades. Rarely do they ever carry chains or even know how to use them. All-around, the most devious and dishonest group of drivers out on the roads. Just behind drug runners up and down I95 on the east coast.
I have had this similar conversation with a guy who used to work under my authority, that now has his own authority. I understand, but as for me, this is going into my sixth year of this business, I'm no stranger. Before I decided to go with this truck, I was hauling (CO2) Liquid Carbon Dioxide for Airgas (Carbonic). Before that, I work for Jones Oil delivering different lubricants, oil and even fuel for the local stores, until they went out of business around 2014. Before that, I drove a local tank fuel truck in north and southeast Texas for six years. Although I drive a small truck now, don't be confused. I didn't make it this far accident free just by luck. I've had my CDL A since 2003, with over the road experience with CRST and Knight Transportation out of Gulfport, MS. If I wanted, I can get some of the best paying jobs simply because I have a clear driving record with hazardous materials, doubles/triples, & tankers endorsement. I chose this business because it's familiar to me, not because I needed quick money. I appreciate your comment.
