    Thank you for such an in depth and honest review. I feel like every review I've seen has just been glowing and positive, and when the pens are this expensive... it's a bit sus. I really appreciated all your comments and thoughts.

    i like that you pointed out the price comparison per pen - if the acrylographs were available individually or in smaller sets i might consider getting them, but considering theyre made by a small business i understand why that would be difficult for them to do

    • @mochibujo
      @mochibujo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely! I understand that A&O is not a big company like Uni or Tombow, and that selling individual pens would be difficult - especially with a new product like this, not knowing whether it will be well received or not. I'm hoping for other purchase options in the future when A&O grows bigger :)

      They now sell them individually on their website.

      Thank you!❤️ I mean, I still think they’re decent paint pens, and there really aren’t that many different brands that make them (Molotov, Pilot and Posca are the ones I’ve seen and used), so I think they’re a good choice, but maybe not if you already have other paint pens ☺️ Not that having something EVER stopped me from buying more of it *cough* brush pens *cough* 😂

    I just got the Tropical set and I’m happy so far but haven’t really used them other than to swatch. I appreciate you mentioning the blender pen and how to use it. I thought something was wrong with it when nothing came out, LOL. It would be nice if A&O mentioned that it is empty in the brief instructions. Thank you for the info.

    Lovely review! So glad to hear someone more experienced than me review this medium/product. I already struggle a lot with the Posca paint markers, so after watching this, I'm so glad I saved my money from buying these. The colours are really nice but like you said, it's unfortunate we can't buy them individually T-T
    Also, the opening scenery footage was gorgeous to see! Especially for someone like me who's been staying at home for months because of the pandemic, it was refreshing to see

    • @mochibujo
      @mochibujo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m happy you enjoyed my review!☺️ I hope that they’ll offer them individually eventually, that would be really nice. They already said they might let you buy tips so you could switch out the .7 with the 3mm tips, making them more versatile. Now that would be a HUGE plus!
      I’m happy you enjoyed the intro too! I try to always include little snippets of my life in the beginning of each video, and I have so much good footage from my road trip this summer 🙈
      Thank you so much for watching!

    Really glad I checked out a review before ordering - I probably will still get a pack as I have nothing like it and really like the fact you can layer - but I was going to order a 3mm set think 0.7 would too thin. 0.7mm looks like it gives you some good options of detail vs coverage

    • @mochibujo
      @mochibujo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely think the 0.7mm is a good option! Since making this video I got a different set in 3mm so I could check out the difference, and 3mm is PRETTY THICK 😅

    I’m so glad you reviewed these. I pre-ordered them and was pretty disappointed when I first used them. I really like how quickly the ink dries and the color selection but the tips on the .7 pens are noooot great. They’re so fragile that they splay as soon as you pump them to get the paint out and are inconsistent across pen colors. Some of mine work so well but others are incredibly scratchy. I think the owner talked about replacing the tips with something else, so this kind of feels like it was rushed at the last minute. Hopefully she figures something out.

    • @mochibujo
      @mochibujo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your input! I haven't experienced the tips splaying yet, so that's good to know so I can be more careful. That is a liability when you *have to* press the pens quite hard down on the tips for the ink to flow out :P I didn't know about the possible replacement tips, that's good to know!

    • @gemmacassells
      @gemmacassells 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This was my experience exactly with the 0.7 pens! I was so disappointed in these pens as I wanted them to be awesome. I got 2 sets (jewel and tropical colours) and I honestly regret it so much.

    • @ElleSwa
      @ElleSwa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gemma Cassells same, and I got the same color sets as you, too. I love the colors but using them made me so stressed out because the tips just can’t take the pressure needed to get the paint flowing.

    This was a really good pen test, thanks. I have wanted some A&O acrylograph pens for a while now, to doodle with, but I am always worried about the cost over quality.

  • @blondiebaileyboo
    @blondiebaileyboo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you for a great review. I feel the same way about these pens. However if the tips are interchangeable with Posca ones, I am wondering if the 3mm Posca tips would fit in the 0.7mm Acrylographs, enabling you to have a thicker tip and getting a bit more versatility out of them.

    • @mochibujo
      @mochibujo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @hungryforpaint

    Great review thank you! I was tempted to get these but you saved me some money. The inconsistent ink flow sounds like a bit of a deal breaker to me and they just don't seem to be worth the price ($35 per set now)

    • @mochibujo
      @mochibujo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah it seems the price has changed a little bit since I made this video!:) I agree the price point is a bit high, and I don't think I would've made any more purchases if I didn't have some gift cards for A&O, but since I did I decided to buy the larger size, and I think the ink flow is more consistent with the 3mm nibs, possibly because it's a different material? I'm still trying to make more time to play around with them, and I'd love to make an update video later this fall, testing the different nib sizes and some different colors :)

    • @hungryforpaint
      @hungryforpaint 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mochibujo awesome! I'll definitely watch it. I do have quite a lot of Poscas and Molotows in 3mm size though - I liked the idea of having finer nibs. The 0.7 would have been perfect if they were more consistent.

    One year on, how are you feeling about these pens now that you've had more time to use them and get used to their quirks?

    • @mochibujo
      @mochibujo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question! I find that I really enjoy the colors, and I do like the particular look that paint pens give your artwork. But, they are a bit high maintenance (needs to be activated every time you want to use them, and cleaned after use), so sadly they’re not the first pens I reach for when I want to make art or make a journal spread😔 That being said, it’s kind of the same with any kind of paint, and I’m trying to teach myself to take more time to paint, instead of feeling like it’s “too much work” to set up my painting equipment and clean up afterwards and stuff☺️
