Nice! This is the first time I've seen anyone on TH-cam promote prosedge. I have had great success with it and it's very economical.

I'll give it a shot. I left for 6 days on July 4th and came home to a mess of Crab grass and clover spots. It was super hot for several days,I ran the irrigation while I was away. It's so much weeds I have now, fingers crossed I can get rid of most of it. Thanks for the video.

Love your channel brother. Just saw your history and start up video. I'm a new home owner now and I've been watching lots of videos on lawn care and I really like what you put out. Your editing is great and everything is perfect. Your lawn is also flawless and just gorgeous. I finally got my front yard to where it needs to be and it now looks like a lime green carpet. Nothing better than making visits to Home Depot, working on the lawn with blood sweat and tears and just patience to make a man feel like a man with hard work. The HOA aint got nothing on my lawn lol. Anyway just wanted to say Thanks for your hard work on education on lawn stuff. It helped me. A+++

I've had really good luck with the Bayer Advanced for my weed control. I'll hit the whole lawn with my hose end sprayer in the spring, and then spot spray as they pop up the rest of the year. Seems to work well for me especially with controlling clover and dandelions

When I was younger Clover was part of the grass seed mixture at my local lawn care store. Yes they use to have those too. In my parents lawn now my biggest problem is clover but I kind of like it because the honey bees need something and if you haven't noticed the bees are disappearing at an alarming rate.

Agreed, clover is a good thing to have in your lawn. Many are using micro-clover mixed in with grass seed as it isn't as obvious as ordinary clover and is more heat tolerant.

Hi, Ryan. I tried a product called Fusilade II for crabgrass and quackgrass. It worked really well, and did not kill all of the good grass. You are inspiring me to rescue the lawn at the house I've rented for 8 years now. I don't plan on moving anytime soon, and with this being pandemic year, I figured why not?!?! It's going okay, but I sure wish you were here in SW Wisconsin!

My KBG from Seed Superstore is on year 3 here in Minnesota and it looks ABSOLUTELY FREAKING AMAZING !!!! Every once in awhile I get a small patch of "clover". It's the only weed that's seems to be able to grow thru my super thick KBG. I actually enjoy (I know--I'm nuts) hand picking the clover out. It's like a vine. I just comb thru the grass blades, pull slowly on one part of the clover, and you'll get another "leg" of it, than another, and another. Pull it altogether and you'll come up with something that looks like a "mini-jungle gym of ropes" along with the main root. It works fine for a spot here or there and it doesn't grow back.

In Texas the biggest problem I have is Dallis grass. This stuff is the hardest weed to get rid off in Bermuda and St. Augustine grass. I think I may have finally found a solution after mixing 3 herbicides. (No MSMA) It's only been a week since application so I'm not ready to report my success yet. I will post back in a couple weeks. I'm getting a lot of rain this week which Dallis grass loves. So it should be interesting to see how much regrowth I get.

If you have neighbors with weeds you get them too. I have a rental on one side and I had an old lady on the other side of me. I took it upon myself to eradicate their nutsedge since it grows faster than the rest of the weeds and has that funky light green color. I was so vigilant on their yards that I didn't notice the big patches of nutsedge on my side yards. Another 15$ trip to the depot to pick two bottles of nutsedge killer up. I hope that I got most of it wiped out. I am sure there will be more trips but I kicked nutsedge's roots I think. The battle with weeds continues.

Weed B Gone works great for crabgrass and clovers. 3 days later you can see the effects. It's not very good for nutsedge to the point I would say ineffective. The roundup with label that says nutsedge is my go to for it. It seems fairly similar in make up but it definitely works for nutsedge, takes about 8 days to start to see effects.

Ryan, I'm not sure how much you paid for that herbicide, but my go-to herbicide for most items is a Spectracide item that has 2, 4D, Quinclorac, Dicamba and Sulfentrazone, so it takes out clover, crabgrass and nutsedge, and a total of 470+ weeds. I double checked and it also has 17 types of clover listed on the label. This spectracide mix is currently about $7.90 for a 40 ounce concentrated bottle which treats about 6,250 sq. ft. This is the price at Wally World, but the other big box stores are close enough on the price that it's not worth making a special trip anywhere. The title of the product is "SPECTRACIDE® WEED STOP® FOR LAWNS PLUS CRABGRASS KILLER CONCENTRATE". It is also worth mentioning that Tenacity is only for cool season grasses as it will harm most warm season lawns.

Up here in Canada, WeedBGon has been rebranded to WeedBGon Max and the price was reduced by 25%. I checked the mix rates and noticed that I have to now use three times as much product to treat the same area. They've diluted the product. Disappointing and will be switching to something else. I guess they have to find a way to pay for the $10B lawsuit settlement for Roundup. It would be interesting to see if this has also happened in the U.S.

Ryan, I spot killed the crabgrass, so now I've got these brown spots. What next? Do you have a video on what to do next?

Ryan, I live in Ohio and temps have been in the 90s with lots of sun. In fact, it looks like some grasses are already turning dormant. I have a clover issue in the front yard ( sunny and hot). I have used Tenacity on it twice (3 weeks apart) and it didn’t do that good of a job and I still have wide swaths of clover choking out the grass. Should I try tenacity again in this heat or perhaps the other stuff you recommend or wait until the temps go down a bit?

Sprayed my yard with the weed b gon that hooks to your hose directly. Came out week later, clover is thriving just as much as it was, literally no change. and now have a HUGE Brown spot in the yard. I don’t know if it’s part of the clover or if it’s the grass. Trying to wait it out to see if anything happens with it but man is it eating away at my OCD

Vinegar is not really a good alternative. It's non-selective, so you don't want to spray it in grass. It's more like an alternative to roundup/glyphosate in that sense. Also, it just doesn't work that well. It can maybe kill off weak broadleaf weeds but it isn't even that reliable for that. People get tricked by vinegar because it seems to work well and fast. If you spray it, you'll see browning within the day, and the plant looks dead pretty quickly. But it ends up recovering because for the most part it's just a surface level burn. Vinegar isn't a systemic herbicide that goes down to the root, that's why we can use it in salad dressings :)

I have only used it as an alternative to round up. Which kills everything I would try mixing a tablespoon to a quart and a little soap. Try it on a test area and give it at least a few days.

The past 2 summers I used Weed B Gone, with the chickweed control. It ends up killing off the undergrowth of zosia and making sections look like crap (thin/stressed). I put it down for wild violets and creeping charlie, but it's taken 3 summers to knock out most of it. I like the look of the zosia but I want the bluegrass everywhere (that's what I planted). This year if I spray the above I am waiting until Sept when I don't care if the yard gets the thinned out dead look.
It's hard to have a turf quality yard when neighbors barely can mow, let alone put anything down to help the situation of the above weeds and a army of squirrels burying nuts all over the place (supposedly the cause of the zosia coming in from them having it on their claws).
I'll concentrate on my other yards as it's time to kill them off now for the mid August reseed.

I need help identifying a grass type weed St. Louis area. It grows up not outward like crab grass and it's also not like nutsedge either much thicker leaf. Almost like a Corn, and grows about 10 times faster than the grass. I just seeded this area 4 weeks ago, and think whatever this is was brought in when they graded my yard after we installed a pool.. Horrible time to seed but hoping something takes now so i can just over seed this fall without killing everything off. But right now my concern is with this nuance grass.. Is it an annual and I can put some pre-emergant down in the spring to help control it or do I need to Roundup it all this fall.. I did put down Scott's starter with weed preventer, that did turn most weeds popping up white and they died off.. Didn't effect the nuance grass, I did just put down a 2nd application of Scott's starter this weekend so I hope in a week or so maybe it will help.
I have pictures and have posted in a few Facebook pages with no responses. Not sure how to get the picture on TH-cam though.

I have something that looks like crabgrass but apparently it's not crabgrass. Because quinclorac and tzone didn't work. Haven't tried tenacity yet because I have bermuda grass and it can't be applied to bermuda until it's dormant. Looked at all kinds of pictures and my best guess is quackgrass because it does have a purple redish base way down. And all the information says nothing will kill it except roundup, which won't work because that kills everything and prevents anything from growing
