I currently own the Powkiddy RGB 30, and I've upgraded the joysticks with the Gulikit Hall sensor ones, resulting in a notable improvement. Additionally, I've expanded the SD card to 256 GB for a more extensive collection of ROMs. Personally, I prefer ArkOS, finding it to be an impressive device that brings me great satisfaction. After testing the majority of Dreamcast games, I've observed smooth performance with most of them. While I'm new to the PICO-8 system, I find it to be a lot of fun. The outstanding feature, in my opinion, is the exceptional screen quality. This device consistently surpasses my expectations.
There are other handhelds that do native Pico8 but obviously the 1:1 screen is a huge bonus if you want that system. Definitely a great handheld for that
Yeah I got this for pico 8. It’s odd o do have every game playing but poom will not load after you select difficulty and. I don’t know why it gets stuck on downloading. I even used the file o downloaded from my Pc on the bbs.
Are you using the official Pico8 splore app or are you using Fake08? Poom is a multi-cart game which can't be completely downloaded from the BBS website and transferred to the SD card.
Is native the right word here? A virtual piece of software only has emulation. It's just a question of whether the emulation is official or third party. In my experience the Fake08 emulation works ok for some things, but the sound can be a bit garbled compared to the official software. I hope that Pico8 takes off in a big way and gets more people into game design/development.
Is there a way to change the individual thumbnails in the main menu for the emulators ect. (when scrolling through the menu)? Example: For All games: Image of Metroid, Sega Genesis: Sonic. Thanks in advance
Depends on the firmware you are using, but if you are using an Emulation Station based frontend on a CFW like JELOS/ROCKNIX or ArkOS then you can find all of the theme assets on the same partition as the roms in a folder called 'themes'. Find the themes folder that corresponds to the theme you are using and drill down into _art/artwork. I believe for most themes, this is the folder that contains the artwork displayed per system. You can change the assets here but make sure that you are using the same naming convention, file type and dimensions.
Hi! I am just exploring the possibilities with RGB30 (I have a lot of issues somehow...). Do you have any chance to have saving option with the native pico8 emulator on the device? I am bit confused, the screen is really meant to be for pico8 but without saving for example in Celeste it is a nightmare :D
Pico8 by design is very simple and meant for pickup and play in a single session. There is no saving for any pico8 game... Each run starts from the beginning
Hello, I would like to know why you create the zzzsplore file because in all the other tutorial videos that I have seen you just have to copy and paste the files onto the pico 8 folder on the SD card, if you just do that Could this not work? THANKS
That file is if you want to use the native pico8 splore which is like an online store to browse and find new games. If you download the games with a computer, copying the p8 files directly into the folder works just fine.
I try download arkos for the rgb30...data 2.45gb ( 7gb.something after extract with 7zip) After extract it only show one folder...click on folder say image broken ? Any idea what i do wrong ? I think win block cuz unable....mega link work the other win say data vol. unknown. Nice clean made video 👍
The file that you extract from the zip should be an .img file. Use an image flashing software like BalenaEtcher or Rufus to flash this file to a brand new blank SD card of at least 16GB. Once the flash is complete, insert the SD into your TF-OS slot and power on the device to initialize the OS Check out my guide for installing custom firmware on the RG353. The process is exactly the same for the RGB30: retrohandheldguides.com/rg353-cfw-install-guide/#installing-your-custom-firmware
@@RetroHandheldGuides it worked. I put the arkos mssd in my pk n put in second one 64 for games. It boot everything and put it in my pc to ad games. Put it back in my pk n arkos cant start...black screen....? I done something wrong but i dont know what. Well again. But i still meet no sound on my pk. Play retro games without sound is like half baken. Soo i go to the jelos side n download a old version.... Now i have a old jelos version....with sound. If i would be better in informatic stuff...i would go n search the dif. of the versions that creates the soundbreak many ppl meet. but i cant. Thx for your help i kind of reach my targed 😂✌️
The version of Retroarch included in the custom firmware for these handheld devices does not support direct screen recording like you can on the desktop version. You'd have to output to an HDMI video capture card if you want to do a direct screen recording.

Where did buy the hall sensor and which one does fit the RGB30?
Is the same as the Switch?
First! So tempted by this handheld just for its Pico 8 native emulation....

@@RetroHandheldGuides Ah. Okay then. I have finished Celeste. 22:05 minutes, 17 strawberries....and...182 deaths :D No more questions about saving.

@@RetroHandheldGuides je comprends merci de votre réponse, car d'après certains tuto pour installer splore il n'y a pas besoin de créer ce fichier.
