Congratulations on your achievement! A professional bike fit will make a world of difference and spare you a lot of pain. I wouldn't go for BCM halfway through a 100km+ ride. Hope you attempt another long distance ride soon.
@@jadeseahOFFICIAL Its definitely worth it to spend a lil more at first to try out several saddles, before settling on one. As well as having different sized stems to experiment with fit. Not as fancy as deep carbon wheels, but they can make or break a ride. Lookin great, keep it up
@@jadeseahOFFICIAL ha….we couldn’t tell! But hats off to u, really, for doing the RI route and still looking fresh, gorgeous and chirpy. 99% of those I’ve seen who did RI ended up looking like they’ve just been through an automated car wash, the other 1% pretty much in ICU condition. Lol….so ya well done and yes, still a mystery, beautiful.
Jade A thoroughly enjoyable video. To bonk is to hit the wall. When you bonk, you are riding on memory and your tank is empty. Eating is key to surviving long rides. You mention starving at least twice in the video. Have a very light breakfast before you start, Don’t start on an empty stomach. Carry energy gels in your pocket or in a “bento box”. Eat one every hour or so. They are easily absorbed and will “fuel” you. You will need to learn to eat as you ride. All your stops are for food! Do keep at it. Thank you for making the video. I think we share the same Chinese surname. I am a Chia. As in Sieh Sieh -Thank you in Chinese. Thank you Jade Seah!
Hee thanks for the tips! I am terrible at eating food I don't find yummy - and I don't like the gels (used to take them for long runs back in my running days...). But might be time to start stocking up on them again...
Whoa, my friend keeps egging me to take on an RTI but I am always a little apprehensive. Your video has just encouraged me, Jade! I appreciated some of your pro tips (although you also said you were a noob and I felt I could relate better then!) I also have felt the "bonk" after too heavy a breakfast when I need to cycle back. But somehow I always forget the next time! 😅 Are you still riding regularly?
Congrats to yr 1st round island. I have cycled many RIs whilst training for my Ironman. Just be mindful and careful on road. Personally I had 2 bike accidents previously but it doesn’t deter me from continuing cycling :) keep peddling 🚴🏻♀️
Thank you babe! I really admire you lot who can do Ironman! That sounds so daunting for me - especially the swimming leg! Stay safe and be careful on the roads!
Hi Jade, just stumbled onto your video while browsing through some ideas for another marathon ride on my Brompton. That’s was some great achievement there, and perhaps some day I’ll get onto the RIR on the PCN, but I’ve to start very early. Thanks for the inspiration!
Nice to see you complete your rideand thanks for the useful information you've provided. What is the cycling glasses you are using? The lens are transition and I need something like that.
Hi Jade, Thanks for the video. I am visiting SG in mid December and planning a RTI ride. Do you have any recommendations on a place to rent a road bike? Thanks!
Congratulations on a really nice video and a land mark distance, over a 100K is always a milestone. I still remember the first time I achieved it, it does stand out.
Congratulations. That was so cool if your friends. Group rides are the best. I noticed that you were not wearing your cycling shoes. I were impressed with your video on purchasing cycling shoes. I plan to do my first 100 kilometer ride in the near future. I am doing a lot of 50 km rides, mainly to get used to clipping in and out while riding in congested traffic. Any tips?
Good job!! While it's good to ride with friends to keep you on your toes, do not push yourself too much. it's important to know our limit. even professional athletes collapses during a game... keep safe!!
Thanks for the extra info and motivation to conquer the round-island cycling challenge. My longest was approximately 100km before the scorching sun took its toll. I hope to accomplish this within the month. Cheers
If you can do 100km, it's a mere mental barrier to achieving a full Round Island! Start really early (I would recommend 1am) so you catch the sunrise and light morning sun, without the scorching noon SG heat! Good luck!
Good to know your own body and limit so that you know when to refuel. Energy gels/ bars are a good source for avoiding bonking. Knowing when and what to eat is as important as cycling itself.
Congrats Jade, 👏. The bike frame might be a little too big for ya (looking at how you stretch your arm towards the handlebar). Simple fix, just change to a shorter stem.
Congrats on the achievement.... 125km around Singapore .. to visit family, I drive 798km to get home. twice a year ... Hehehe.... Imagine if I cycled ... Gosh...
You can bring some energy bars or gels in case you need food (probably should constantly eat somethings during the ride; if you feel the bonk, it is too late to eat)....Great achievement thou.....

Hey Jade, do your frame came with 2 bottle cages or just 1 ? 😅 oh ya, and are those stickers customise? Congrats for completing RTI, maybe it’s time for me to do it but I have the same problem as you😂 after around 80km my neck hurts 😂
Use to ride from Sembawang to East Coast and back during the early 2000 with my Brother and cycling kakis. Started 5am and came back around 1pm after tokok and kopio. My bike was a Scott CR1 naked carbon weighing 14.5 kg with a carbon saddle and mostly 90% of everything else to boot. Miss those days though as I’m back in the Philippines. Cycling kakis use to know me as Hamsterchick my nick in Togoparts. Anyway, nice to watch your vlog and more power!

Congrats on your longest ride yet! However, it is not considered Round Island until u hit Lamp Post 1. U also seemed to missed out Marina Bay Sands. Typical Round lsland is about 150 km at least. Then again, u have covered more distance than the average Joe actually, including myself. Kudos!
