    Guys, if you'd like to experience what it's like inside the school, Waseda Shibuya Senior High holds a festival called "Seiransai" every year (if I'm not wrong, in Sep). In the past few years, it is usually held 1 month after Natsu Matsuri in Aug (at the Japanese Primary School). I've been to the festival a few times a few years ago and each class holds a themed room e.g. haunted house, cafe, etc. You get to learn a lot on Japanese culture, and also experience it!

    I have a very interesting story about this Shibuya 'Makuhari' (former name) High School back in the late 90s. I was a footballer and I used to study at ITE Dover. I had always wanted my school to play against Shibuya Makuhari. So one day, I went to Shibuya Makuhari and asked to meet the football team teacher in-charge. I told them I was sent over by my teacher (obviously I'm not!) and we wanted to challenge them to a friendly. As expected, the Japanese were just too nice; they accepted. After that, I went to my school team teacher in-charge, I told them the Japanese wanted to challenge us to a friendly! My teacher got hyped up, said, "alright, since they wanted, let's play them!" I could speak a little Japanese, so all translations came through me, nobody understood anything during that encounter. We played that friendly match in our school ITE Dover. Final score, 2-2. #FootballMemory #ShibuyaMakuhari

    $400 per month is quite hard since they have to buy breakfast, lunch and dinner themselves. Can they cook? The cheapest filling food in Singapore neighborhood is usually around $3.50. That would be $315 monthly. Since they have to eat lunch at school, it would cost more. Also, Set A for $8.50 is quite expensive for a school food

    • @johnwig285

      You need to consider that most international students are of the higher middle income bracket with parents working as expats. It is not a public school. International schools are like that

    • @nastyayoyo4963
      @nastyayoyo4963 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought so too! $400 per month means $13.33 per day if 100% spent on food (which is not realistic) and if lunch is already $8.50, Okashi-kun only has $4.83 for dinner & breakfast? Unless breakfast and dinner are provided by the dormitory.

    I went to Qifa Primary which was close to the Singapore Japanese School (down the road from this school). We could see the baseball (clay?) type sports field from where we were and one of my most enduring childhood memories was seeing a lightning strike on the field during a particularly angry storm. I could feel the intense blinding energy from the flash of lightning arcing through the air, and the crack of the thunder was the loudest thing I’d ever heard. Scared the shoite out of me. Next day you could actually see a hole in the ground where the lighting struck (they put a little cone and tape cordon around it).
    Since then I’ve had a healthy fear of walking long distances under overcast skies in relatively open areas that don’t have too many tall buildings around. I’ve had to chance it once or twice and could feel my hairs stand on end each time. One of the most foreboding feelings of impending doom. It’s right up there with tornadoes as the meteorological phenomena that causes the most primal fear.

    someone please enlighten me. Why would international students live in a dorm if they are, very likely, in Singapore with their parents?

    • @GhibOjisan
      @GhibOjisan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

      Students living in the dormitory lives alone in SG. Parents send them here cos Singapore is extremely safe and has a global environment, good for education 😁

      maybe the parents in japan,,, or, if the parents in singapore, maybe they live far from the university,, thats why its convenient for the student to stay in d dorm,,

      Most of the time, dormers will have parents in a third country (not Singapore and not Japan). I had a friend who's parents were based in a not so safe country.

      @@tocino4 Exactly. When we were based in Penang for work, one of our Japanese friend's child was studying at Waseda High School in Singapore.

      @@GhibOjisan I am a Singaporean living in the US. Ghib don’t be duped by the false propaganda their illusions of the fake safety generated by the SG government. The propaganda about education system is the biggest load of hyped croak ever. One day if you are free I can tell you in person. I’ll give you all the lowdown on the propaganda SG generates. It’s not only communist countries that produce propaganda that grip the boomers of SG. SG itself also produces propaganda !! It is understandable, as it’s a small tiny country and its survival depends on foreign investments. But sorry we quitters don’t want to ever be interviewed on camera

    I am surprised that Waseda Senior High School students need not wear school uniform in school. I saw one student who was even dressed in shorts. So, there is liberty despite uniformity to some extent for the students. On a seperate note, there is no need to teach them Singlish as they are not interacting with Singaporeans on a daily basis. The students are paying good money to learn proper English. Learning or speaking Singlish would dilute that value.

    • @GhibOjisan
      @GhibOjisan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yeah they only wear uniforms in special occasions like the entrance ceremony etc
