- Elections are currently ongoing in the world's largest democracy. The outcome of Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state, in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls is of particular interest. Factors such as the influence of the Yogi administration, the electoral prospects of Congress in Raebareli, the performance of the SP, and the strategy of Mayawati's BSP regarding caste dynamics remain key points of interest.
Joining the discussion are two senior journalists Ashutosh Shukla and Virendra Nath Bhatt. Ashutosh Shukla works as Dainik Jagran's state editor in Uttar Pradesh. Beside that, Shukla is also the author of four books. Virendra Nath Bhatt is a senior journalist based in Uttar Pradesh.

I think biggest change is having bank account...you go to any branch in village areas . They just visit to get their passbook updated and come out elated .

Congress won Karnataka by invoking caste politics. Congress won by dividing the country since 1950s because of caste, but it got dormant in 2014.

It shows local politics matter whether Cong is best or not, KA BJP fell on their face so badly. Unless a dynamic leader emerges from KA BJP its a fractured voting pattern. National election is something else.

Citizens are singularly responsible for this caste based fiasco in India. Until they rise above caste and religion, and fight their politicians based on their economic situation, they will not progress fast. Politicians will try to hijack caste religion differences. Media should help citizens and fight the politicians on issues instead of allowing politicians to steer the media to caste/religion divide.
This entire discussion about caste/religion is a waste of national time and impedes progress. Media should steer citizens to issues.
