    I don't know how you figured this out, but you're pure genius! Somehow my wife disrupted the transponder signal with her third party remote system so her key alone wouldn't start the car, as if it were an unprogrammed key. In any event you just saved us about $ 175.00 from the dealer and just want to let you know how grateful we are. Thank you so much!

      One thing I've heard from a dealer or two in my area, is to never have magnets near your keys... Something about disrupting transponder signals or wiping keys or something... Something to keep in mind in case the keys ever get wiped again...

    Not all heroes wear capes. Thanks for figuring this out and sharing. I tried the other single key methods which apparently worked for some but it only programmed the buttons to work for me and not the key itself to start the vehicle. I tried your method with the starter and it worked like a charm to start the vehicle. So greatful to you. Much appreciated. Cheers

    Just want to add that this method worked to program a new chipped emergency key for a 2008 Mazda Miata (MX-5) with the Advanced Keyless Entry (AKE) system and an aftermarket remote starter.. Wow! I don't think I've felt moved to leave a comment on TH-cam before, but gotta tell you that you are the man. Thanks for saving me a lot of messing around in FORscan and/or at least $50 in locksmith programming fees. 👍

      Forscan can program key? I have used free version of it on this car for years, pretty familiar. Forscan doesn't really do much but read codes and reset them though.

    Could not have been any easier! Worked perfectly first try following your video. I was down to one key on a 2011 Expedition but had an after market Compustar remote start system. Thanks for sharing this.

  • @corvettebob96

    Worked great for 1997 Expedition. Press remote start, wait for "theft'" light to turn off, step on brake, insert good key, turn to on, wait for "theft" light to turn off, turn key off and remove, insert unprogrammed key, turn to on, wait for "theft light to go out. Turn off and remove key. It is programmed. I bypassed a 1995 Bronco theft system by cutting and splicing wires before but I thought it was some kind of alarm. I think PATS is what I actually bypassed. Brilliant work around. Thanks for the video. I do not know if the PATS was already bypassed on the 97 Expedition. I am going to call this video absolutely true because it makes sense substituting the remote start as one of the keys.

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The remote start is just programmed to the vehicle PCM as another Ford key. It doesn't know it is a remote start system. You are just doing the programming sequence as if you are using a programmed pats key.

    • @ssergeant9682
      @ssergeant9682 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just learned how to do that. it was a youtube video. I don't have the link but here is what it said. we did it and now have the passcode. I have a 2014 F 150.
      open the driver side door (thinking you do that to ensure your door opens but not sure). then go around to the passenger side - open the door and along the inside there is a panel. remove that panel. behind there is a little white sticker. the door code (factory code) is on that sticker. you can either use that for your door or if it has been changed from that to a more customized number - you still need that in order to change the doorcode. it worked for us immediately so we just left the factory code.
      one other thing my daughter told us. if you repeat the first number twice - that will open both doors. example - door code - 12345 opens just the driver side. if you put in 123451 - that opens both.
      there is a place to change the door code in your system info. it will require you to use the factory code - then you can change it to any number you'd like.
      hope this helps someone.
      I'm still working on getting a 2nd key. I only have one, but it does have remote start - so I guess I may only need one? then get it cut somewhere.

    This worked perfect for me on a 2010 Ford Escape. I needed to have my door closed and once the vehicle started to crank by means of the remote start, I tapped the brake. Then I put in the one working key and turned it forward until the theft light went off. Then removed the key and placed the new key in and turn forward until the theft light went off. If the theft light goes off, you know it programmed properly. I tried this with 2 different keys that I purchased from separate people on ebay for $10 each. 1 worked and the other did not. Both keys said SA on them, but I think some keys are only 40 bit and will not work as they need to be the 80 bit transponder chip in them. I think some vendors have keys that look like they should work and others actually do..

    Mine come with one key and aftermarket FOB remote start. I bought a new FOB key and had Ace Hardware cut it. I programmed the new FOB Key and here's the interesting part. It programmed the new FOB key which will unlock door but will not start the vehicle. HOWEVER, if i use the remote start FOB to start the vehicle, it starts, and i can use that same key and to turn to run, operates normally and I can do anything with the new FOB key except start the vehicle without using the remote start FOB. Once I use the remote start FOB, even a plain key without a chip ( I had one made to unlock door) I can drive the vehicle with that key. Once I turn the vehicle off, I must use the remote start FOB to start the vehicle but can use ANY cut key to drive it. Bottom line, I now have two keys that work but one requires me to start using the aftermarket remote start FOB and then using any properly cut unchipped key. Your video helped me get it this far, thanks a bunch.

      Yes. If its an aftermarket key/remote you will have to program the buttons like a conventional keyfob. Google it. I can't remember the exact steps but you turn the key forward a certain number of times, the power locks cycle and then you press the lock button on the remote and it learns it

    Your spare key is in literally in a box under the dashboard... Viper is made by "Directed" (they make most alarms) and the box, that your other key is in is called a 556U - Universal Immobilizer Bypass for Remote Start

    It seems very smart try. I ll try right away, but the question would be: the “virtual key” simulated by the remote starter , isnt it just a clone of the original key? Meaning you have only 1 real key and we need 2 different key to program the 3 rd one.

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most older and even a lot of newer remote start systems, on Ford's especially, are programmed as a new key to the PATS system, which is why you need 2 working keys to program the remote start system, so your comment is incorrect.

    • @JoshSmith-wo7zw
      @JoshSmith-wo7zw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JackofAllMasterofNone I still say that's contingent on the particular system your putting in. Case in point I have a 2017 F150 with the flip key 128 bit encryption and it programmed fine using one key and works perfectly fine. Unless you're using an old firmware version and not the one the manufacturer recommends. I've actually done quite a few this way without issues and if you go into the BCM and have it look up the number of keys programmed to the pats system. It only shows two. This truck uses the same PATS system as the 2021 F150 and probably even the 2022 F150. Again I've done this multiple times without any problems. But I'm usually installing either compustar or Fortin systems. Most of what I do are compustar. So that must be some really old firmware your using? Again not what Fortin or Compustar is telling you to use. I'm sure it's the same with the cars too. The biggest thing are network faults. But as long as theirs no communication issues with canbuss systems it should work fine. It's basically just exploiting Fords built in remote start algorithm which is all done through data. In the canbuss network.

    Hi! great video Thanks!
    I have a 2012 Ford Expedition with only one original master/administrative key. I bought two unbranded ford keys on ebay (which worked great) Home Depot was able to make copies of my keys for free and I was also able to program the FOB part of the key on my own(the remote/ buttons portion).
    All I need now is to program the chip to start the engine. My first question is where do I find a remote starter that works for my car? Second, Does that mean I always have to have the starter with my key at all times? or I only use it once to program and then I don't need to have it with me anymore? and thirdly do you think it will work with my 2012 ford expedition? thanks so much:)

    I tried this with my 2010 Ford Taurus and it didn't work. I tried it 10 times. I used the Ford remote control and hit the brake when the console lit up. Then, I put the key that came with the car in and turned it to "ON." Then, turned it off, removed it and put in the new, un-programmed key. The "car locked" red symbol kept flashing. The new key didn't get programmed. It wouldn't start the car. Well, maybe this procedure works with some Ford trucks and cars, but not my 2010 Ford Taurus.
