Ready, Set, Make: printing from a cake board

Make art from rubbish! In this video, I use an old board from a shop bought birthday cake to make some original pieces of art using intaglio, relief and mono printing methods.

MATERIALS USED:
Textured board recycled from a shop bought birthday cake
Newsprint
Hahnemuhle 300gsm etching paper
Pencil
Marker
Ruler
Perspex or glass to use as an ink slab
Ink knife
Relief printing ink (I used Graphic Chemical 1796 oil based litho ink)
Printmaking roller
Etching ink (I used Charbonnel RSR black etching ink)
Piece of rubber or cardboard to spread ink onto your plate
Tarlatan cloth to wipe back ink (sometimes called scrim or buckram)
Scrap paper to polish plate (I use pages from an old phone book)
Latex gloves
Japanese goat hair brush
Kuretake Gansai Tambi Japanese Watercolours
Etching press (mine is the 580 etching press from Neil Wallace Printmaking Supplies in Melbourne, Australia)
