We enjoyed this so much! Me and my kids gathered around and watched you two talk by the wood stove. We love listening to you both because aside from being wonderful people, you remind us of dear family members we don’t see very often because of living far away. Thank you for the Sunday evening warmth and kindness! ❤
Lol. I can visualize some lady watching this video as Matt is telling his "tick" story and her immediately realizing "omg, that was me and my comb"! I don't know why, but that was my first thoughts and I'm still laughing and wiping tears in order to finish my comment! Thank you for sharing all ya'll do. Much love and God bless.
Oh my Matt’s story about his long hair and the tick was hysterical !! I laughed and laughed ! When I was young years ago we used to skate all the time too , and loved it !! We always had so much fun when they made a huge circle and we did the Hocky Pocky .. great memories !!
The tick story was hilarious! Deer season is over, but squirrel season is still open till end of Feb here in middle TN. Love the roller-skating stories. We don't have skating rink open here anymore. Thanks Tipper for sharing!
Love Matts story. We had a Mrs Brimmer down the street about 80 years old and every time she saw me, she would always ask me to rub lotion on her feet. After the first few times, I would tell her I had work to do at my house. My father would always seem to stop by at the wrong time. He would tell her that the work could wait and that I could rub the lotion on her feet. My dad walked away laughing to himself knowing how much I didn't want to touch her feet. LOL. Thanks for the video.
We had a skating rink in my town, and I was there almost every weekend in the late 70s/early 80s. Good times! I went for the girls too, but I didn't get much attention. At least Matt generated some interest before the tick went and spoiled it, lol! Enjoyed the video. Thanks, and God bless!
Hi Tipper. I did the same thing about getting cut grass and making houses and roads . We had a Wipperwill tree and that's where I played. I watched the girls video of yall playing in the snow. I laughed so hard several times. I'm so happy you got your snow. Love yall
That's how I met my husband. I had just turned 16. A group of us girls went to the roller rink. He was a skate guard. We were married 38 years. He passed from Agent Orange. I sure miss him.😪
Piper you could travel the whole world never found no other man as good as Matt Smart Smart man We really love y’all’s family. Stay warm the coldest days are upon us ❤
Husband of the decade award for Matt. I enjoyed watching him go up that tree. To get his deer stand and the whole. Wooded area and the sky above it was beautiful.kids today would not be allowed to play in grass because of allergies ,love the good old days, the religious order than ran our school had a huge farm and sometimes we are playing so hard not paying attention and we go from our area and find ourselves backing into cow😂,love whenever you reminisce ,thanks for sharing
Hey Tipper and Matt and the rest of the family, I live in Pensacola Florida. I've lived here most of my life except for a short time in Washington d.c. when I was a kid, well I'm a momma and grandma now, and you will never guess what we are getting Tues, here in Florida we have a 100% chance of snow 3-5 inches. Tipper when I seen y'all sledding oh that was so fun, I was envious for sure, I literally said I sure wished we could get some snow, I was like yea right. And look what the Lord is bringing me, some snow Tuesday, now we don't have sleds so we're gonna do it Florida style and use our boogie boards. I live on a hill so my driveway is gonna be perfect. I just found out I have a torn meniscus and I'm going to the orthopedic surgeon this week coming up, now Tipper I love sledding just like you and I'ma put my brace on and be real careful. We don't get snow here maybe every 20-30yrs, so I can't pass this up. Don't worry I'll be careful. I won't get another chance to do this one more time. Love y'all from Pensacola Florida, woooo hooo boogie boarding in the Florida snow
Hey guys, I enjoy your stories, reminiscing on times gone by. I remember roller skating a couple times and mistakenly getting hit in the shin with one of those hard skate wheels. You know when someone is flailing around trying not to fall. That's probably about the time I thought that wasn't my cup of tea. Love you all. Continued prayers for everybody.
Matt acts like a grumpy bear at times but seems like marshmallow fluff when taking care of his girls. He and Katie make me laugh out loud .😂 We are so excited that we will get snow in the Florida Panhandle on Tuesday. The last time I remember enough snow to cover the ground was March 1993, my first grandson was 1 month old and was spending the night for the first time. I was up most of the night so remember it well. 😊 Love and prayers to all your sweet family.❤️🙏
Well we are about to get some snow here Monday night to Tuesday. Maybe up to 6 inches they said. So southern Texas will be shut down. We don't even have a snow plow around here. If I could I would sled down my driveway. It is perfect for it. But seriously, we don't ever get snow so it is pretty dangerous for the ones that think they HAVE to get out in it. Pray for my foot as when we have weather it puts it in a flare-up. Not fun at all. Nothing stops it. Love the stories Matt and you tell Tipper. Yall stay well and stay warm cuz this is headed y'alls way. 🏂🌨☃❄🏔🏂
Yes Tipper! We did the same thing with leaves and pine needles, making “houses”! You’re the first person who has said they did the same! We are about the same age. When I was really young we had some older teenage boys that used to live next door, who were very industrious and dug three huge holes, about four or five feet deep, out in the woods. They covered them with branches and such, and they were connected by covered tunnels. They used them as a fort or hangout. Once they got old enough to move away, us younger kids discovered them and took them over for a couple years, but the branch roofs eventually caved in and we moved on to other things. And Matt’s roller skating stories (along with a bunch of his other stories) sound just like my husband, and he was there for the girls too, but he was a good skater, played hockey in the winter too. 😂 I never really roller skated because the rink was only open for a few years. My hubby is six years older so it was perfect timing for his teenage years! It makes me chuckle how much we have in common!
Matt is a true gentleman. I roller skated on the sidewalks every moment I could when I was a kid. Roller skate key and all. Didn’t have those boot kind. But I loved skating. Fell lots but just got back up and kept going. It was great just to play outside. I enjoy your videos so much. So enjoyable watch.
Its not just about the meat, its about the hunt. Some men drink and talk, others work and wait all year for the few weeks of the priveladge of taking a meal home. Guys that pay to kill on reserves, or have enough acreage to put up feed stands and blinds are just tourists or game farmers. Men that learn the natural land and ways of the animals all year, prepare and then maintain there stands in the natural path of the game, and harvest only the best are hunters. Mr. Matt is a hunter. He is also a caretaker of his environment. He walks the land all year, he does small things that sustain his range. Hunting has turned into a very expensive and exclusive hobby for the rich. Generational hunting on generational land is the truth of the future for the land and game management.
The story about Matt’s long hair and the tick was hilarious! We use to love skating to. My daughter was like Matt she liked the social aspect of it but not skating. God bless you all. Hope you get more snow so you can I joy sledding again.
Roller skating was my "jam" back in the day. I was on the speed skating team, the couples dance skate team and the all girls roller derby team. Not to brag, but I was really good at all three! My favorite of course was the dance skating because we got to wear fancy outfits - LOL!! Later in life I was on an actual country dance team and we got to perform on "Club Dance" several times. What FUN to look back on all those wonderful activities. No wonder my knees, hips and back are in such bad shape now - LOL!! But - it was worth every single ache and pain!! :-)
Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I loved Roller Skating as a young girl! As a younger teen, we would always go every Friday night. Such fun memories! "Couples Only Skate." 🥰🤣 My girls always loved skating rink birthday parties, as well. Matt, I agree, the falls as an older adult are scarier. The last time I skated in my late 40's, I fell and bruised my tail bone. That was it. I put the skates down for good.
Hello Tipper and Matt. That tick story was so funny! You need to start a journal of these stories for the grandchildren. Definitely add the truck story and the time that Paul got scared of that talking toy. I am sure there are many more. Be careful and enjoy the snow.
My condolences to Matt regarding the end of deer season. I absolutely love listening to y’all talk by the wood stove! Roller skating stories were fun especially Matt’s embarrassing tick story - LOL.
We made pine straw house outlines in much the same way. Thanks for the memory. I had forgotten about it. Most of my fondest childhood memories was using our imagination in outdoor play.
I have always loved sledding, but haven’t done it for about 25 years. No one to go sledding with and even though we got lots of snow on the ground no place very close to go, besides today it’s like seven below. So happy you got to do some sledding
I enjoyed this video. ❤ I love when you share stories. It reminds of my papaw and my daddy telling hunting and fishing stories. I would listen for hours.
My sisters and I loved to roller skate, we didnt have a skating rink close by but we had outdoor skates and we would skate all over town. Matt's stories were hilarious!!
I have good memories of my dad mowing trails in our grass for my brother & I to ride our bikes on. He was a sweet man to do that; I know it just made more work for him a few days later. We did the same thing in the Fall when we raked leaves. It was so much fun. We also enjoyed making paths through our woods. Wonderful memories.
Fabulous stories ❤😅 weren’t we lucky to live when kids had nothing to worry us but embarrassing ourselves at the roller rink. Hope you get one more good sledding adventure.
Memories, lol. My sister and I had one pair of skates. The metal kind that fit over your shoes. She would only let me have the left one so I got semi good on one skate, lol. There's 8 years between us so we tormented each other. 😆😆
Had a roller skating rink 30 minutes away from my home. My dad would load me and my friends in the car , and wait for hours as we skated. So much fun. ❤
I cant believe its almost February already. It seems like Matt was just getting ready for hunting season a couple weeks ago... Man Christmas went so fast this time! Fun to hear the old stories. 😊 Have a blessed weekend!❤
Even though I'm from High Point originally, my parents had a lake house at Badin Lake. I have a lot of good memories of water skiing all summer long. I was just an average skier but I could slalom pretty well. What I really like doing was driving the boat real fast and jumping the wake of other boats. I was a Tom boy and had the best time. I was the 4th child after 3 brothers and so I pretty much ran free. It was great. Love your stories and seeing Matt take down the deer stands. My family hunted but it was more tracking and not sitting and waiting. The deer were plentiful in our woods. We lived on the outskirts of High Point.
I used to go roller skating quite often when I was young with our neighbors. I babysit their four kids, and roller skating was my pay I had so much fun.
My sister and I got to roller skate every Friday night and Sunday at an older skating rink on a lake nearby, we had metal cases with our names on them to hold our skates and pink pom poms and lights on the bottom of our skates, they turned lights off and a crystal ball rotated on the ceiling , on my it was so fun, we are now 75 and 77 and wish we could skate again, it would be dangerous for us to try , best memories ever Thank You
I roller skated on all the sidewalks around our home. Also went to roller skating rink on the weekend every chance I got. It was a lot if fun. This was in Centrd al Louisiana. Now you can proceed with planning your garden. ❤❤❤Stay warm. Love your mugs.
Tipper I can see why you are crazy about sledding. I wasn’t even there but I could feel your joy from watching you and the girls and Matt too, when he went down you’re driveway! It was fun to watch! I live in south Ga. and we are suppose to get snow starting tomorrow late afternoon, Tuesday Jan. 21st. !! I can’t wait! I can’t sled, no big hills around me and no sled, but just seeing the snow in the pine trees and over everything will be so pretty! It’s suppose to be quite the storm with maybe loss of power and with north Florida getting ice! Praying people are prepared and keeping warm and safe. If you get more snow I’m ready for another sledding video! 😊
I grew up roller skating at Peacock Roller Rink in Winfield, Ks in the late 60's and early 70's on a wooden floor --- couple skating, limbo, grand march, my dad teaching me to waltz skate, crystal ball spinning from the ceiling, 4 pom poms on EACH of my roller skates, partner spinning in the middle of the rink ---- thanks for the memories!!
I love sitting with you two and listening to your stories. I participate in the conversation you just dont hear me. Much ❤ from snowy 🌨😊 Florida~Nicole
Tipper, I hadn't thought about rollerskating in a long time until you and Matt told your rollerskating stories. 😊 I use to rollerskate all the time, had my own skates, and just loved it. I had my share of falling down, too. That was a funny story about Matt's long hair and the tick. I really enjoy listening to all your stories. 🤗 You always make my day and get me smiling and laughing. You two are just the sweetest couple! 💞 Sending blessings to you and all your family. 💗🙏
I howled about Matt and that tick! Poor guy. We skated all the time in Alabama. But my first skates were those metal ones that attached to your shoes. By the time I was in high school we had a nice rink. Good memories!
Your stories made me think about my neighbors! When we were little girls, I remember us being on their screened in porch playing on a quilt. The squares were our rooms, and the lines were our hallways! So much fun! 😊
Enjoyed this so much. I havent commented in awhile. Life has alot of hurt in it. I lost my sister thanksgiving week, last week i lost my younger brother. It was not expected. So so hard. I did watch the sledding video it was adorable. I pray Granny and Matts dad are botn well. God Bless and keep you all.
I remember making the grass houses in the summer when I was young. In the winter we would use the snow to mound up walls and outline a house. We would pack it down tight and they would hold up for quite awhile in the cold weather.
Looking forward to the hike y'all do through looking for the dafidills by the old mountain homesteads. I think is beautiful the chivalry Matt is showing making you a toe path. Good for all the men and future men watching to learn, and good for the ladies and future ladies to see a real man doing that. Grandsons got a good example there.
I remember all the cool boys skating together.. mullets flying.. 'trucking'.. they were Gods lol like Matt said, they owned the floor and you knew to get out of their way! Making plans with my friends to meet up, being dropped off and picked up later. My favorite was the All Night Skates..Great memories! 🎶🛼🪩
Tipper, my sister and I used to make our "houses" out of the leaves we raked in our yard!! We did the same! Beds, toilet, kitchen appliances!! We even had a prayer room!! Wonderful memories!!❤
Hello Matt and Tipper, great stories about skating, now days they have small walkers kids can hang on to while they skate and get better at being sturdy. I have not skated in a long time, I would sled still though.
Ohh I was terrible at rollerskating! I remember some of my girlfriends would hold their birthday parties at the local rink. Y'alls stories were great! How sweet of Matt, making sure Tipper didn't get hurt by clearing a trail. Have a wonderful night! -much love from NJ ~Mary & fam
The mention of skating gave me flashbacks. I was in the 6th grade skating “couples”…a senior Amazon woman took the guy I was skating with by the arm and started slinging us around in circles…I couldn’t hang on and crashed with the guardrails….broke my arm at my wrist😳 to top it off, my sister thought I was lying and made me go to the car for the rest of the night. That was a Friday night, they finally believed me Monday. I never played another trick like “my leg is broke, etc.” after that. And….never put on another pair of skates. Think long & hard on the hankering to roller skate, Tipper…things hurt more than they used to at our age 😂😂 Love, hugs n prayers from Mississippi (the part that’s going to miss the snow/ice this time 🙏)
I LOVE skating. When I was little my mom took me to a mom's skate on Wednesday mornings. They blocked off one end for the kids to skate. She taught me how to skate and how to skate backwards. She and my brother both were better skaters than me. She passed over 20 years ago but I have her skates in their case. They are too small for me. I've been dying to roller skate for years and years and finally my husband took me about a year and a half ago. It was just as you said everybody there was so good at skating and knew all the tricks! I felt extremely mortal in my older age. I managed and I did not fall and it was so much fun! And this Christmas my husband bought me my own pair of roller skates. I've never had any of my own. Now I just need to get up the nerve to go again. LOL I'm seriously considering elbow and knee pads. I can't even imagine getting a broken bone at this age! I'd never be the same. Anyway thanks for sharing. God bless you all. 😊
Growing up on my Daddy’s tobacco farm we kids would get broken tobacco sticks and twine to make a play house. My cousin loved skating but I never was brave enough for it. Now just recently she went to a skating ring with her grandkids and skated (she’s in her sixties)😮 posted it on FB. Tipper I can see you doing this😂 with the two boys. Love it when y’all share funny moments and sweet memories ❤

I have always loved sledding, but haven’t done it for about 25 years. No one to go sledding with and even though we got lots of snow on the ground no place very close to go, besides today it’s like seven below. So happy you got to do some sledding
I really enjoyed this video. Matt’s skating story was funny 😄
I enjoyed this video. ❤ I love when you share stories. It reminds of my papaw and my daddy telling hunting and fishing stories. I would listen for hours.
Thank you! We appreciate you!!
Those are some great memories!! 😊
Oh I bet that was tough to learn to skate on one foot! 😊
Had a roller skating rink 30 minutes away from my home. My dad would load me and my friends in the car , and wait for hours as we skated. So much fun. ❤
That is great 😊
Yes!! We all needed that fresh air until the bottom dropped last night.
Stay warm and safe this week. We are FREEZING 🥶 in VA!
Thank you both for reminding me of skating!
A wanderful walk and great old memories, thank you both. God Bless. ❤&🙏🙏's fot all. Jean
I hope you are feeling better!! Thank you Jean 😊
I cant believe its almost February already. It seems like Matt was just getting ready for hunting season a couple weeks ago... Man Christmas went so fast this time! Fun to hear the old stories. 😊 Have a blessed weekend!❤
OMGOSH, the tick and hair story!!😂😂😂
Ahhahaha, "There I sat with my tick on the table." You're killin me Matt! Hahahahhah Tipper, your daily must just be a comedy. Ahhahah
😊
I used to go roller skating quite often when I was young with our neighbors. I babysit their four kids, and roller skating was my pay
I had so much fun.
My daddy doing the flea hop. ❤
Matt lololol 😂😂😂😂😂😂
😊
I love your description of playing “house” on the playground! That was a favorite of mine, too!
We all had so much fun playing house! 😊
Loved the tick story. Mr Cool! I can see you skating Tipper.
Love those memories!!
Thank you!! I know you'll enjoy the snow too 😊
Im in Arizona so love looking at the snow ❤😊
I grew up roller skating at Peacock Roller Rink in Winfield, Ks in the late 60's and early 70's on a wooden floor --- couple skating, limbo, grand march, my dad teaching me to waltz skate, crystal ball spinning from the ceiling, 4 pom poms on EACH of my roller skates, partner spinning in the middle of the rink ---- thanks for the memories!!
I sure enjoyed the visit... especially Matt's tick story 😅 Thank you both 🥶👍
So glad! Thank you 😊
I love hearing your storys
Your woodstove reminiscing stories are truly beautiful. Make this a weekly thing.😊
Tipper we got 5 more inches of snow here in eastern ky hope u got some more to. Loved Matts roller skating story 😅
The story of Matt and the tick is fabulous!
I love sitting with you two and listening to your stories. I participate in the conversation you just dont hear me. Much ❤ from snowy 🌨😊 Florida~Nicole
Thank you for visiting with us 😊
Tipper, I hadn't thought about rollerskating in a long time until you and Matt told your rollerskating stories. 💗🙏
Thank you so much! We are so glad you enjoyed it 😊
I howled about Matt and that tick!
I love those memories 😊
Love your stories❤❤😊
Enjoyed this so much. I havent commented in awhile. Life has alot of hurt in it. I lost my sister thanksgiving week, last week i lost my younger brother. It was not expected. So so hard. I did watch the sledding video it was adorable. I pray Granny and Matts dad are botn well. God Bless and keep you all.
I’m so sorry Sharon. I just can’t imagine how hard that is for you. I will pray for you.
I remember making the grass houses in the summer when I was young. In the winter we would use the snow to mound up walls and outline a house. We would pack it down tight and they would hold up for quite awhile in the cold weather.
Love those memories 😊
My mom used to love to take us kids roller skating at a local rink on the weekends. Loved the Hokey Pokey!!
You guys are awesome😊
Thank you 😊
Loved Matt's skate story. Lol😂
I laughed so hard at Matt’s story. 😂
😊
Looking forward to the hike y'all do through looking for the dafidills by the old mountain homesteads.
I think is beautiful the chivalry Matt is showing making you a toe path. Good for all the men and future men watching to learn, and good for the ladies and future ladies to see a real man doing that. Grandsons got a good example there.
Thank you 😊
I remember all the cool boys skating together.. mullets flying.. 'trucking'..
they were Gods lol like Matt said, they owned the floor and you knew to get out of their way! Making plans with my friends to meet up, being dropped off and picked up later. My favorite was the All Night Skates..Great memories! 🎶🛼🪩
Listening to you both talking by the wood stove is the perfect way to end the weekend!😊
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 😊
My skating years were all of the 70s. My daughter in late 90s. Rinks are few and far between these days. Like drive ins and bowling alleys😢
I really enjoyed listening to you and Matt. I loved the stories from your youth. I think you might be getting some more snow on the 19th and 20th. ❤
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Tipper, my sister and I used to make our "houses" out of the leaves we raked in our yard!! We did the same! Beds, toilet, kitchen appliances!! We even had a prayer room!! Wonderful memories!!❤
Love that!!
Hello Matt and Tipper, great stories about skating, now days they have small walkers kids can hang on to while they skate and get better at being sturdy. I have not skated in a long time, I would sled still though.
Enjoyed the video. Loved the skate stories. I went skating but was never good at it. ❤❤
I am so glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
I remember going roller skating in blue ridge Ga.
It’s snowing here Tipper hope you get some too.
We are getting a little too 😊
Matt’s tick story was hilarious …loved skating as a kid. I had white boots with orange wheels 🙂
😂 the tick tho lol
The mention of skating gave me flashbacks. I was in the 6th grade skating “couples”…a senior Amazon woman took the guy I was skating with by the arm and started slinging us around in circles…I couldn’t hang on and crashed with the guardrails….broke my arm at my wrist😳 to top it off, my sister thought I was lying and made me go to the car for the rest of the night. That was a Friday night, they finally believed me Monday. I never played another trick like “my leg is broke, etc.” after that. And….never put on another pair of skates.
Think long & hard on the hankering to roller skate, Tipper…things hurt more than they used to at our age 😂😂
Love, hugs n prayers from Mississippi (the part that’s going to miss the snow/ice this time 🙏)
Oh goodness that was painful I know! Thank you Lori 😊
Love your history of skating 😊
Growing up on my Daddy’s tobacco farm we kids would get broken tobacco sticks and twine to make a play house. My cousin loved skating but I never was brave enough for it. Now just recently she went to a skating ring with her grandkids and skated (she’s in her sixties)😮 posted it on FB. Tipper I can see you doing this😂 with the two boys.
Love it when y’all share funny moments and sweet memories ❤
Love that!
