I've followed you since I saw your Wii OSSC video from years back. I've been extremely grateful for your profiles for the OSSC and the Retrotink 5X, and feel they should be considered mandatory inclusions: So I'm delighted to see your efforts be recognized and included with the Retrotink 4K. I've got mine ordered and will enjoy making use of them and this video. Thank you for your continued work and enthusiasm 🙏
Thank you so much for taking to time to make this video. I'm sure I'll be watching it many times over the coming weeks and months, as I try to get my head around the myriad of things possible with the RetroTINK 4k!
This is great; and I wished I'd watched it sooner! I'd been using the 4K for some recordings but, after comparing to the profiles here, I think I've really screwed the settings up. Well, good stuff to learn!
Got my order in! I want to use it mainly for the swirch honestly, to get 120hz BFI HDR working on my 1440p OLED Monitor. I hope this will bring a lot of longevity to the system :)
I do not understand why the PS2 elf files isn't booting into the app. From LaunchELF's filebrowser, the ELF acts like it will boot and then I'm back at the PS2 Browser. Been frustrating trying to get all my systems tuned in for the Tink, lol
Reading through your zip files, many of these profiles seem to be input specific and various PAL settings, such as the GameCube ones, require forcing the PAL games to 60Hz or 480p. Do you plan on making any settings for those without the means to do so? In other words a straight 576i or 288p upscale without any PAL to NTSC conversion? FYI, I don't have a 4K TV, so whether I buy a RetroTINK 4K or OSSC Pro my primary output will be 1080p50 or 1080p60.
@@wobblingpixels3921 Your supporting documentation says: "Optimized for: -------------- - Gamecube NTSC & PAL game - 4K (3840 x 2160) output resolution - YPbPr (Nintendo Component Cable) - with built-in LPF (can be also used with any other component cable) ---------------- Important notes: ---------------- *- PAL games forced to "Progressive Mode" switch to 480p (NTSC) - PAL games with enabled "60 Hz" option switch to 480i (NTSC)"* That's what I was referring to. @@WhiteJarrah Why would you buy a carby adapter and then output in 576i but not forcing games to 480p or use the 60Hz option in PAL games? Even with RGB scart cables or s-video cables you have the option of 60Hz with most PAL games. I don't remember if the GCvideo (carby) profiles support 576i. I think they do but there is not really much of change (compared to R4k defautl settings) with carby and 576i you will see besides some smaller changes to scaling.
@@wobblingpixels3921 Forcing to 480p requires either a modchip or action reply disk with SD card to memory card adapter. I don't have those tools, being primarily a PlayStation gamer I've never taken the time to invest in such tools for the GameCube. But I can confirm that the Carby supports 576i. By default, it linedoubles such sources to 576p. But I usually switch it to passthrough because I hate the way bob-deinterlacing looks.
@@WhiteJarrah I understand what you mean but why not just buy RGB scart cable if you only play 576i PAL and don't like bob deinterlacing? It costs almost 3x time less compared to carby and the difference between digital and analog in this case is quite small. Maybe I am missing somehting in your setup...
Thanks ! Lot of work on this one. Do you plan to release content about CRT filters in 4K ? Curious about the result on 3D games especially Game Cube :)
Thank you so much for your Videos! Im from Germany and i had the Luck to get my Retrotink 4k last week.❤ can you please tell me if there is a way how i can be sure to take the correct profile for the correct game? Is there a way?im confused about all these settings...for example for Alundra NTSC the profile square pixels very sharp is perfect
I have my order in for one. Mainly just want to use it for my 1440p oled monitor with the switch in 1440p120hz BFI mode. Should I use this frame lock feature as well? Can you give me any tips for using this with the switch? Thanks!
For HDR profiles with slot masks. They are appearing overbright. Should I be using the HGiG tone mapping on my TV? (HDR 10 for gaming was already on) If I turn the RT4K's SMPTE 2084 PQ to less than 300 nits or so, I start to see visual artifacts in the RT4K's overlay. Let me know if there is anything you'd recommend. I can't seem to darken the image to match the lights and darks you'd expect. It looks fine using an SDR profile. Any help would be much appreciated.
I wasn’t one of the lucky ones to get a retrotink 4K during the cyber battle on the broken website. Will you guys be creating a custom profile for the Analogue Duo for it?
I just received my RetroTINK-4k in the mail and have played around with several of the N64 profiles but I'm not sure if I'm getting the best picture quality possible (this is my first time owning an upscaler so the menu options are a little overwhelming). My N64 is currently using the red/white/yellow composite cables but would I get a better signal if I hooked it up via an RGB/HDMI console upgrade or SCART cable? Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Composite is the worst. You can RGB mod your console for the best output or get S-Video cable (second best image quality) with N64 NTSC consoles. For N64 PAL console you need a specific s-video cable.
@@wobblingpixels3921 Thank you! Once I do the RGB mod, is there any advantage to using an RGB to SCART cable over a normal RGB cable? I'm in the US so my console is NTSC. Thank you again.

What a silly comment, this is a useful video guide on profiles and adjustments. Reviews and feature showcases are welcome, this is costing people money, so it is good to see what you are getting for the cash. Surely it is better to have more videos to determine if this is the right product for you.
