    It would be nice if google follows apple's strategy with chipsets and for instance, uses this year's flagship chipset in next year midrange pixel a devices, that way they put all their efforts in one single chipset each year and improve even more their ecosystem.

    • @mr6570

      It would be a smart idea considering it would then allow them to make some money off R&D since the chipset would be spread to a few devices rather than just one launch for the life of the chip

      I think, given the cost of the regular Pixel 6,
      ($ 599) and its materials, it will not be difficult for Google to release the Pixel 6a in plastic, but with the same processor. Expecting the price at $ 449 with 6gb of RAM and 128 gb of internal memory with Tensor

      Very good idea they can easily give up on other features to keep price in check, moreover like what samsung have doing in their midrange phones use of single chip in multiple devices would give them advantage of scale and same level of optimization throughout

      I think it’ll have the same chip but materials will be different, for example plastic casing, screen resolution, camera, ect. The reason the Pixel costs so much cheaper is because they weren’t overpaying for the chipset. The 6a will be 399 and will share the camera as the regular 6 but will have a 60hz screen still. Prob 5.7 - 6 inches.

    • @seasunt
      @seasunt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@3KRacing I don't think so. The price drop in pixel 6 isn't because of paying less for the chip but because of aggressive pricing to undercut the competition. Custom made chips don't reduce the expenses until later generations.

    I'm happy Google didn't go bawls deep on the speed. Speed is overrated when it comes to smartphones. Look at the iPhone 13 Pro. Yes, it has a very speedy processor, but it also generates a LOT of heat that causes it to throttle down when it gets hot. I'd rather have better machine learning and artificial intelligence with a very decent speed processor, than a speed demon. Kinda like preferring to coast the highway in a limousine rather than drag race down the highway in a bumpy wild sports car. lol

    • @ChrisBa303
      @ChrisBa303 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that we had phones that where fast enough since the a10 in the iPhone 7 plus but i wouldn’t say that the ML in pixel is actually that much smarter than in the a15 all of the „smart“ features where already possible trough apps. Just use the photoshop app for example. What you also dont quite get right is how if you put the a15 in battery safer the performance is just slightly worse than in the 888 and probably pretty comparable to the tensor but with basically no heat and very little battery consumption. But if you truly need the power from the a15 for something like speedy video editing or high end computational tasks you can disable it for full performance. A have the 13 pro and it never got hot so far. I dont play high end mobile games like genshin though. There are far better Systems for that like Switch or pc.
      As a former Android user, something i really loved was playing gamecube games on the go. I wonder how they will perform on tensor.

    This issue with Android is not the software. The software is amazing as long as the different phone manufacturers leave their skins off the device. The biggest issue I have with Android is that app development still lags way behind. Not the developers fault. It’s just hard to develop with all the fragmentation. In terms of raw performance it doesn't seem very impressive... it's actually a variation of an exynos chip built by Samsung with input by Google. It kinda performs like an S20 (benchmarks). What remains to be tested are the AI features of the chip and how well Google optimizes Android and Gapps running on Tensor. It's kinda curious seeing Google take this "Apple approach" and making its services run better on their own silicon. Will Google license Tensor to other OEMs? Will this approach make OEMs angry?

    They spent 5 years "development" only to end up using the Exynos infrastructure to build it. MKBHD even said the CPU layouts are copied from Samsung Exynos... Looks like their long development only achieved a TPU with some unique codes. I have a sneaky feeling that the benchmark figures will probably go up. But even if they don't u won't be to bothered. We are becoming obsessed with benchmarks and this isn't the best way to guage everyday performance. Far from it. Take pixel 5. On recent speed tests , the sort of thing most use their phones for, it absolutely trashed the iPhone 12 pro max. Obviously things like video rendering and game FPS the iPhone was faster, however its way way way more powerful on paper but this in no way whatsoever shone through in reality. What I'm getting at is the pixel 6 range is very worthy on single core figures and very capable against anything out today. The multicore is less but that was always going to be the way with how Google has configured it's SOC set up. But with tensor things will not need to use the CPU as much and I bet the pixel 6 will shine. Don't forget it's got a 20 core CPU but on the same process as exynos but with more cores. The exynos 2100 can already hold its own so I don't see why pixel can't. Anyway I guess we'll see very soon

    qualcomm does make good products but they don't provide 5g carrier aggregation in midrange chips like mediatek also they don't support their chips for long , i have galaxy note 10 lite the processor is from galaxy s9 it will be supported till android 13 and security update till 2024 not the best phone but still supported old chip because its made by Samsung.

    I'm moving from the S20 FE 5G (which is still pretty good) to the Pixel 6 black 128gb, I'm hoping the move from 6Gbs to 8Gbs of RAM will help improve gaming performance, overall I just want the pixel 6 to perform better than the S20 FE 5G and I have a feeling they will be on par with each other when it comes to performance with the pixel 6 having the advantage

      .....no wonder why Androids need like 5000mAh batteries to run average 1 day on battery same as iPhone with just 2800mAh because WHEN iPhone SoC has like 10% SoC usage - Android SoC usage MUST be like 20% for same task because it is by average 2x slower

      @@arithmetic7105 yeah probably with an iphone model that came years ago.. don't get me wrong, I myself have never used iPhone and only owned Samsung and Sony devices in the last decade and a half, but iPhone always seems to be many steps ahead of what Android flagships could deliver. With the 13 lineup's battery, screen and performance, they've hammered the final nail on every stereotype that has been said against iPhone to make Android look better. I'm just waiting to see how Pixel 6/6 pro and Samsung's upcoming devices match up with the iPhone 13 series before finally getting an apple device and leaving Android for good.
