I am glad you mentioned this because I thought Kraven in Spider-Man 2 game was enhanced, since we saw him as strong or stronger than Spider-Man. I thought no way he is just a non powered. Watching this discussion made me question myself for a minute until I saw this comment.

Lol Eric and Aaron are both very confused about their Kravens. Kraven in the Insomniac game DOES have powers, and that origin that Aaron's reciting as "in the comics" isn't from the comics at all, it's from the 90's animated series.
I was gonna say that sounds like 90’s animated series, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen that. I do remember he becomes an ally of Spiderman in that show. In the comics I think he’s a straight up bad guy.
It doesn't come up in the show, but Miles Warren goes on to become The Jackal, an insane genius specialising in cloning. As a professor he became obsessed with Gwen Stacy, and blamed Spiderman for her death. He's the one who created Ben Reilly, the Scarlet Spider, as well as a bunch of other clones.
Kraven is great because he can be so different depending on where he appears. In this he's a lion mutant thing. In the video game, a dying man looking for his last great hunt. In the 90s animated series, he was a good guy! A versatile character lol.
Kraven being mutated is one of the very few things that I wasn't crazy about in this show. They basically tried to combine the Spider-Man villain Puma with Kraven.
This polarising version of Kraven has it's merits (love his personality and code of honour) Also love how the built up of Miles Warren's villainous nature (this universe's Clone Saga would have been fascinating)
I'll be honest even though this show has some of the best depictions of Spidermans villains I am a bit mixed on how they depicted Kraven. What I mean is that Ive always preferred Kraven in the comics as an insanely skilled hunter who didn't need to be mutated to match up against Spiderman as Kravens Last Hunt is one of the best Spiderman stories that showcases how deadly as a normal hunter he was to Spiderman. While I dont mind this show's take on Kraven to be mutated lion hybrid, I do think it goes against Kraven's pride as a hunter, but regardless I still think Insomniac Spiderman 2 game depiction of Kraven was genuinely the best take on the character we've gotten as he truly showed how deadly he was as a dying man with years of expertise and desperate to gunt down his final pray with vastly skillset and strength in feats to even put up a fight against Venom
I think the big issue is that in reality Spider-Man would easily beat Kraven if they didn't give Kraven some kind of enhancements. This is something glossed over in the comics I think. Realistically, no matter how well-trained the average human is, they just couldn't hold their own against Spider-Man with his enhanced strenght, speed, agility etc... The power-scaling is inconsistent. In the show, we've seen Spider-Man take levels of beatings from various powered people that would have killed normal human beings. So the writers, I think, being consistent were right to showcase in their first fight that realistically Kraven can't beat Spider-Man. It was made explicit when Spider-Man literally made this point towards the end of the fight. I do think the physical cat features were not the best but I think that if Kraven was to be a serious villain for Spider-Man in this show, some enhancement had to be done.

I personally think it just happened to early. Would Kraven mutate himself to beat Spidey? ABSOLUTELY! But I think he needed a couple more losses first. There were plans with this mutation that was connected to another character that never came into fruition due to cancellation.
I don't even have a problem with Kraven giving himself powers on purpose, I just wish they kept the design, maybe changed it in some subtle way like turning his eyes squinty, give him claws, make his skin slightly darker etc. Because human Kraven design looks so much cooler than the cat man. Weird decision considering that this show usually pumps out phenomenal designs. Hell, this is the only time where Electro's design didn't suck.

Eric gotham is a good series. There are some issues but the actors are really good and they did a really good job with penguin and Riddler. Also NoHo Hank from Barry plays Victor Zsaz ,one of the best hitman in Gotham.
Honestly I feel like I'm the only one who likes Kraven's fursona, at least design-wise. I find it also fits well with the themes of genetic testing and modification.

One of the biggest sins of this show only getting two seasons is that we never got to see Miles Warren assume his villain persona, the Jackal. Aka the guy responsible for the clone saga storyline
I heard it was for toys too (the companies thought that a normal looking guy wouldn’t sell). The show writers just had to make the best of it. It’s kind of like how Hobgoblin was before Green Goblin in the 90’s cartoon due to toys.
I understand some people’s criticisms about this portrayal of Kraven, but I personally like both and enjoyed this one. Even Calypso approves of the change. Also, yes, Dr. Miles Warren is an absolute badass here. He has even less going for him physically than even the human Kraven, but his mind is one of the sharpest in the world. And that last line is always great: *_“Our anonymous American friend now has a name. Of sorts.”_* *_“I’m called the Master Planner and I was wondering… how do you feel about hunting in packs?”_*
In a show that has most of my favorite versions of a lot of villains I must say: I’m not really a fan of what Spectacular Spider-Man did to Kraven. That said, it gave us a couple of great scenes of Miles Warren/Jackal being himself so it’s a win/win really.
As this episode demonstrated, no human, even a masterfully skilled one, can ever expect to match Spider-Man without some kind of powerful tool (Doc Ock's tentacles, Shocker's vibro-suit) to level the field. Spears, blowdarts and knives are not enough.
It was apparently corporate interference, they didn't think regular Kraven's design would sell toys or something like that. So yeah, one of the few missteps of the show was from suits meddling, big surprise there.
I'm not a huge Kraven fan, but even I could tell they didn't get him right. Not just the design, but the character too. He's considered to be one of Spidey's most formidable villains, but he's kinda pathetic here.

27:13 Strange how we never see the Trapster outside the comics, possibly due to his origin as a 'joke' villain named Paste Pot Pete. Always thought he'd fit really well on this show, perhaps taking on a wild west motif with his glue guns. This series definitely did right by Flash, making him much more than just a dimwitted bully.

I think Kraven was this shows only misstep. I much prefer human Kraven to mutated cat-man Kraven.

In the Shattered Dimensions video game Kraven is voiced by Jim Cummings, and he sounds a lot like Hondo. More ferocious than jovial
