Same, never even watched WandaVision and only knew Agatha from her intro in the Fantastic Four comics. Found this to be a lot of fun, very Hocus Pocus feeling.
As soon as I saw the name “Nicholas Scratch”, I remembered Senor Scratchy the rabbit from “Wandavision”. So, I’m glad Agatha still had him. Also, I don’t know if you picked up on it but the music right before she’s naked is a dramatic orchestral version of the “Agatha All Along” song from “Wandavision” too. Massive well done to Aaron for picking up on that Darkhold acronym immediately.
@@JonInCanada1I was wondering why I saw the name "Nicholas Scratch" and immediately took it as a nickname for the devil. I guess my mind just connected the names subconsciously.
She named the rabbit after her son, something happened to him and it’s kind of her fault but I don’t think she knew what would happen to him when she did what she did.
Fun fact: Andrew Ugo (the author of the book that was stolen) is an anagram for “Wundagore”, the very mountain fortress where the Scarlet Witch met her supposed end in “Multiverse of Madness”. Great reaction as always guys! 😊
"If there's no body, they aren't confirmed dead" is the general rule for comic book adaptations. This is why people accept that Black Widow is dead but not Scarlet Witch.
14:56 No? She literally didn't do anything to Wanda? How do some people think Agatha was responsible for ANYTHING in westview lol, Wanda was doing EVERYTHING. All Agatha did was tweak some things to make it seem like Wanda's spell was failing in order to try to get Wanda to snap back into reality. Agatha was not torturing Westview residents, Wanda was. Matter of fact, if it was not for Agatha, Westview would have probably remained imprisoned. All Agatha is guilty of is wanting the power of the scarlet witch, but she didn't really do much villainy...
And if you want to mention the witches she drained in that Salem scene from WandaVision... well they were killing her, df was she supposed to do, sit there and die?
Been watching a few reactions to this episode and a lot of reactors seem to almost be on autopilot and are missing or not caring much to notice the details. Maybe MCU fatigue is real for some? Anyway, glad some people are staying alert.
Knew it was going to be good. But, it exceeded my expectations. Love the dark version of "It was Agatha All Along" and the call backs! Kathryn Hahn acting rang was really shown here and it's beautiful to watch ~ She played my favorite character on Parks & Rec! Glad Kathryn is getting the recognition she deserves
I didn't watch any of the trailers for this, so I had no idea what was happening but from the very first shot I said to myself, "why does this look like a murder show?" and then she shows up at the crime scene. And then, with the way they were over-pronouncing certain words to remind everyone we're in New Jersey ("wooder," "crick") I said, "this is giving off strong Mare of Easttown vibes." And then the title came up as "Agnes of Westview" and confirmed it was on purpose.
Yeah the small town, being sorta dysfuntional socially, the run at a suspect being a little clumsy... Mare it is. Watched the whole series while on a long international flight 😂
I honestly didn’t think this show was gonna be any good because Agatha Harkness doesn’t have that much source material in the comics, but I’m so freaking happy that I was proven wrong! Kathryn Hahn truly has made this character her own, and she’s far more entertaining than she has ever been in the comics.
Wasn’t expecting much from this at first but I enjoyed this first episode and having Aubrey Plaza in it is great. Reminds me of her role in Legion show when she was the Shadow King Lenny. I need to rewatch Legion
My theory is Teen is Billy Maximof(Wiccan) because he lifted the spell that Wanda gave to Agatha. And the twins probably reincarnated when they disappeared in the end of WandaVision. Wandavision ended with Modern Family Sitcom in the background. Modern Family released in 2009 and Teen age is 16(almost 17) Agatha All Along timeline is 2026-2027.
I suspect that it might be a "triple-whammy", as it were: it's Agatha's son's (Nicholas) spirit possessing or intermittently channeling through Billy (which explains why Billy's demeanor and sense of assertiveness shifts across the two episodes, going from seeming young and a touch naive to directly scheming and subtly manipulative). Nicholas being a part of all this is alluded to when she gets a sense of loss/regret while looking into his room (which, of course, as-presented is just part of the overall partly-illusory reality of Westview, as Nick would have originally lived several centuries ago when Agatha was young). And the triple part of all this is if they follow-through on the other comicbook aspect of Billy's/Wanda's history and have Mephisto be the soul-source for either or both Nick/Billy -- which after this mini-series would feed well into his manifesting into the MCU as the already-cast Sacha Baron Cohen, in "adult" form. I'm happy with any combination of the above, but again suspect that the triple-run may be where they go with it, ultimately, as it streamlines several subplots together very neatly. (It also links well with Sacha filming scenes at the Agatha sets during their filming in 2023.)
I think he is Wanda's "failsafe" in case things went wrong in MoM. Which they did. That is why the spell that keeps him from saying who he is. He has a compulsion to walk The Road because she implanted a desire to do so and for his "reward" at the end to be getting her back.
Wanda was the dead murdered girl. She had scarlet hair, and the bookmark had her being the last one to check it out. So this might be happening directly after Multiverse of Madness.
As far as Wanda's death goes, IIRC, it was confirmed in the most recent MCU book they put out that she was canonically dead. Which "canonically dead" means nothing in comic books, but still.
The superb Joe Locke, who found fame in Netflix Heartstopper. This is his second TV show he has done. Heartstopper was his first. Just amazing how someone is so good at his young age, with no TV or film experience.
Haven't completely settled on a theory, but there are pieces in my head - the empty room of NIcholas Scratch, the reaction 'Agnes' had to the Teen almost being hit by the car, Rio's "Do you remember why you hate me?", the spell on the Teen that he is unaware of (and who might have cast it... and _why_ ), the offhand comment about child sacrifice, Rio highlighting her 'black heart' (funnily enough, the first time I think we might actually have a Mephisto connection) - really looking to see how it all plays out, and if I'm even close to the right... road (🤣🤣 - couldn't help myself)
@@ebailey140 Sure, but MCU has been playing around with who connects to who from the start - and that's kinda cool, in my opinion. I'm not exactly a fount of knowledge on Marvel comics (that would be my housemate, I'm more a DC girl), but it wouldn't surprise me if the changing up of stuff like that is to keep the hardcore Marvel fans interested by doing something they DON'T know (I mean, isn't Agatha a good - well, good-ish - guy in the comics? Wanda's mentor rather than her enemy? The MCU has always changed things up). Add to that he actually gets specifically name dropped in a later episode, and I'm _pretty_ sure it's okay to speculate about potential connections with that character. And it's just that, speculation - I could be 100% off the mark, and that's fine, I'm just having fun interacting with the show.
Honestly... once again one of those occassions where i can not at all understand the hate this show gets. I liked it from the first episode and it kept getting better with every new one so far (sure, only three episodes in so far, but still). Kathryn Hahn has a tendency to excel even in small roles and she killed it in WandaVision, so i expect her to do the same in this. And like Aaron, i've said since Werewolf by Night that Marvel hasn't yet done nearly enough with the more mythical, magical, dark, monstrous side of Marvel Comics anyways and this show fills that void, at least a little. And with Agatha and Aubrey's role (Blackheart? Then again, that's someone entirely different in the comics)... the signs point to more than rivalry. The whole "My heart beats for you" and the odd comment about control in the police office. Plus, she helped her out of Wanda's spell.
Went in knowing absolutely nothing about the story (this is the first Marvel show/movie/comic/etc I’ve ever seen) but so far I’m loving it! I decided to watch for Joe Locke, because I’m a big fan of Heartstopper. I love his character so far, and everyone else is on point too. I love the campiness and horror aspects of it for Halloween. Can’t wait to see more!
I will say, Wandavision is very un-comic booky until the end. It's basically a surreal take on how grief and loss can force you into denial and distort your worldview to the point of psychosis. If you enjoy campiness like this first episode, I think you'd really dig Wandavision since this episode is basically the entire way WV was presented.
People keep talking about the Darkhold being destroyed. Did everyone forget that Dr Strange has a photographic memory? He saw both the book and Mt. Wundagore.
I can't believe I missed you guys posted this, I loved the first 2 beyond what I expected. Also beyond the Goku-fight idea, there seems to be a literal reason Aubrey Plaza can't kill Agatha. Agatha said she can't kill her and that it's "not allowed" to which Aubrey said she could torture her instead, and also Agatha said if she drained Aubrey she would die (that might not be related), so it's possible it's just a mental thing, but I assumed it was some sort of pact or something

Of course it was her! Also the burned fingers and the cause of "death" was being crushed which she was at the end of Multiverse of Madness. But they hinted very strongly at the beginning that she's still alive. She may well appear before this series is over. If not then for sure in one of the upcoming Avengers movies. I've heard they're even talking about a Scarlet Witch solo film
@@PhysicalMediaPreventsWea-bx1zm Yes for sure it was, I don't they they realised that though. I've heard the same re being alive and a solo movie would be wonderful! That is a no brainer for me 👍
Imagine none of what Agatha is seeing actually happening, she’s spouting nonsense to people in the streets and they know she’s spelled so they are all just humoring her. Rio has been searching for Agatha since she helped Agatha get the Darkholde and Agatha betrayed her and took it, she was using the book to cloak herself but since Wanda destroyed it, everyone is going to be looking for her now that she’s out of Wanda’s spell. Nicholas was Agatha’s son, why she named him after the devil, Nicholas Scratch is the devils name when he’s pretending to be a human. There was no body, it’s part of the spell, they are in her house, the chair changed to her chair in her house. Everything we saw was Agatha’s mind trying to break her out. The library card list the people who had the Darkholde, I’d love to see that list and where it started. In the comics the Salem Seven are the children of Agatha’s son Nichols Scratch but they’ve changed it for the show. They are sort of a dark witch government in charge of punishing witches in this show, they all have animal familiars, loving this show and I hope it leads to more magical characters like the Midnight Sons.
I was extremely shocked by this beginning, it only remains to be seen if this series will continue well, because lately Disney is starting well and ending badly with its productions

That is a no brainer for me 👍
Aaron’s statement about beating a legend way past their prime feels extremely relevant after Jake Paul/Mike Tyson.
ITS SOOOO GOOD
How much is Disney paying you to shill?
Same as the boss of incels pays you @@Luke-cu7bf

@@Luke-cu7bf People can't just enjoy things anymore?
I’m watching this to decide wether I will actually watch the show
I think Aubrey says "Te veo" (I see you) both times before leaving
It is "te veo" but it's more like "see you later" as in the future tense
@@crickitobs yes it's see you later
Day 3 of asking Blind Wave to react to Solo Leveling in Dub
I understand forgetting about Secret Invasion, but What If and Echo? Come on!
I was extremely shocked by this beginning, it only remains to be seen if this series will continue well, because lately Disney is starting well and ending badly with its productions
Echo was technically the last marvel show, by the way. Dont worry, i forgot about it too. (i liked it, but they kinda tanked the advertising).
I am not sure who Melanie is. I have not seen her before with you guys. Hope you all liked the series. It took me a few episodes to start to like it.
She is Aaron's wife
The lines in the phoney TV show are probably intentionally bad.
