Yep, got a 30" by 1-1/2" rock bit to put T-posts in the ground. I just heard the ground giggle looking at this.
That grapple and tilt is awesome. How does it do in frozen ground and rocky soil?

As a small farmer, I've installed thousands of feet of 8 foot, 5-6" wood post/woven-wire fencing using just a tractor and an $1100, heavy-duty Woods augur. And my own arms and back. I'm kinda proud of that. Fencing contractors with these skid-steer outfits want VAST sums of money to do the work. We're talking $20K, $30K, $40K, in that ballpark. Forget it.
Totally understand your point here! For these contractors, and those hiring them... There is a mutual benefit to getting the job done faster and that's where Post Drivers come in. How long of post will they handle?
Personally, the grabber would mark the posts as well as the crunching when it was placed.
Not only that but these attachments also mark the tops unlike pouning machines which are easier to get through hard ground.
Then theres being level...
I like it. Wish I had it 15 years ago instead of my grandpas 65 year old fence post digger for when I put my dads fence in.

Coming from AZ where we have a solid layer of rock covered with 8" of topsoil....I always wonder why you guys need a machine to dig your holes or drive your posts.
Can you make one that grabs post half way up and vibrate in need to for under vine kiwifruit canopy work build one and I’ll buy it ASAP

Skid Steer Solutions thanks for that have a height restriction to work with would like to mount on a king hitter series 3 side shift post rammer will cut mast down to suit . Need to be able to grab post halfway then vibrate in even if we have to take a couple of grabs to ram in 500 or 700 max

Very nice job. Nice to see it's a one person job now compared to the others. I wouldn't worry about rocks and no concrete. We have a Quick Attach post pounder and it can drive in a railroad tie with no point in gravel. I'm sure this would do great

You can attach a chain for height and level (gravity). Attach close to the driver as for reference. If you want post 5' above ground cut chain length to 5'.

You shouldn't be using wood post out there any way !! It'll will drive pipe in the hill country just fine well at least the one I Dig texas sells will not sure about this unit.

So what happens when the ground loosens up around the post from wet conditions and there is no concrete for support.
A properly driven post is far superior to any with concrete around it. The sub soil stays tight around the base of the post year round, and they certainly don't loosen up unless too short a post is used. We apply some pretty extreme tension to our fences, and the depth of the posts is where the holding power starts.
Hey Rob, This is extremely hard pack clay. The ground is very dry right now. These posts were not going in for a fence, they were going in as a demonstration, so concrete was not added. In a lot of cases folks don't need to add concrete but as you pointed out, it does add a lot of support and virtually eliminates the risk of the posts drooping over. With this post driver, we just aim to drive at least 4 feet down. If we wanted to add concrete, we'd have to do a demonstration where we pre-drive the holes which defeats the purpose of demonstrating for customers the raw power of this unit. With a skid steer auger and posts, that's when we would add concrete because there is a lot more room to pour it in. Thanks very much for your comment, it's a valid point. Rob &/or Marisela, look up what "friction piles" are and if you ever saw how sheet piles or marine pilings are buried, the displaced earth acts like a friction clamp around said structure, so really no need to add cement unless its sand or sandy soils then you may want to add grout to the base below the surface as doing so to the top of the surface would allow for premature failure. Another option is a through bolt or two that stick out the sides a few inches for extra hold annd can forgo using grout or cement which will eventually crack.
Use it for yourself
Using concrete sucks. It does not stop the ground from moving away from the concrete All concrete does is fill in the hole you dug. I build over a 130,000 feet of privacy fence a year i would drive every post if i could but people are under this concrete is king idea and its totally false.
It would be awesome if they made one for the front loader of a tractor.
You can get an adapter to convert the front loader of your tractor to accept skid steer accessories.
Check out Danuser. They make one for just about all attachment methods. Nice drivers too.

nice but show it in hard ground or in trees not all ground is root and rock free see how sharp point post act with roots
Your also in monster machines.
If ground is even a little damp, those tracks will tear it up something awful every time the skid steer turns.
Bobcat also makes an ALL-WHEEL Steer model, called the A770. It also has TURF Tires so it doesn't rip up the grass the slightest bit.

All of the posts seen in this video were purchased locally. The pointed posts make things a little quicker, but nonetheless, this Skid Steer Post Driver performed well with the flat head posts as well.
Looks like it's chewed up the top of the post I think customers wouldn't be happy if I did that lol
The posts in the background that you see damage on were overuse tests on the driver, in which case there was no regard for the posts. That's why they are so deep in the ground; in excess of 6 feet.

Which is fine if you're doing a few holes, but when you're putting in miles of fence, tools like these are great.

@@ShinkleGunDog - yeah and it's funny how they didnt show the top of the posts, especially after that 1250 model got done shredding the top of that larger post, you could see chunks falling down while the camera was trying to focus on the dirt around it "shaking"...
They actually make a thing to put points on posts. Looks like a huge pencil sharpener. Costs thousands. Still a bunch of extra work. My post driver puts 6'' posts down just fine. Only had a couple times when it wouldn't drive them.

In fact, Eterra has! All of these post drivers can come with a 5 ft. breaker spike to pre drive holes for allowing posts to go through. No other post drivers can do this with a simple change of the head.

Hey Ben! This was a testing video. We wanted to invite everyone to see us try out the prototypes and of course, these are very raw videos and don't show perfect/expert operation.
The PDX-1250 is substantially more powerful than the PDX-750 and the big difference is noticed in really hard and rocky ground. Both are going to drive a small 4-6" post the same, but when it's really hard and the posts are bit larger or unpointed, that's when the 1250 stands out :D

Ummmm. Auger works and is WAY cheaper

Auger requires drilling a hole to depth then inserting post and filling in if/as required and took what about two or more minutes?
Driver just drives it in the same time and since the post is installed immediately it does not require handling into the hole as it has already been handled and due to the displaced earth it is held in plenty enough by that friction alone (friction piling, look it up) so no need to backfill. But the one down side is if you are too aggressive it will cause damage to the top of a wood posts seen to some set aside from "destructive" testing. In in a minute or less and done, the next two can be easily installed in the same time compare to post hole method. But rocks and rocky sol are a pile drivers worst enemy, but not impossible.
Yes and no. The auger is cheaper and does work but does take more time. Since I don't do this for a living the auger is a better fit for me and the pocket book. However I have not used one of these but seem to be a lot faster. If they were cheaper I could justify buying one but like I said I don't do this for a living and makes more sense for me to continue to use the auger. But I would have loved to use this post driver.
Nice but the machine will fall apart
cheaters the post are all pointed. we drive a post on the farm with no point. when you are repairing or laying new you don't have time to make fancy points drive the post before you have animals out.
Why not just get them supplied that way?

You complained about having to make the pointed ends. I gave a solution, you moved the goalpost. If you are pinching pennies, why not just skip the cost of any drivers and dig the hole by hand and tamp them back in? Either way, I'd bed this'll drive blunt posts.
most posts need to go 30" this thing is not being advertised as we would use it in the field, better off with the tried and true auger, and foam anchor, skip the dam bullshit people,.

Aw Dude, you're trying to sell a tool that so specializes you priced your self out of the market! The 10K price tag on this bad boy will turn off all but the stupidest customer. Most landscapers will pass just because the labor and time cost will be cheaper in the long run. Youll have better luck selling ice to an Eskimo!
Our customers that are fence contractors are reporting back huge time savings! Some are saying they can put a massive fence in on an acreage about 5 times faster than a traditional skid steer post driver which range from $6 - $8,000.00
It's amazing how fast a fence builder can work with a tool like this.
