I always leave your videos with new books added to my TBR, looking forward to checking out the Mercedes Lackey book especially as I love that kind of fantasy and I think I've seen you mention it at least three times now, so I just have to! Half A Soul was one of my favourite reads of last year so anything that fits that 'cosy' vibe, fantasy or otherwise, is a must read for me! Speaking of, one I read this year that I really enjoyed was Miss Percy's Guide to the Care and Feeding of British Dragons. Very sweet and wholesome historical fantasy that unfolds slowly but is a delightful read!
Thank you for the recommendation of Maame. I've been looking forward to reading a contemporary cause it's been ages I've read one. Your recommendations always help. Thank you.
For a cozy manga like the beginning of Witch Hat Atalier I recommend Nicola Traveling Around the Demon's World, the relationship between Nicola and her demon guardian is soooo sweet and the illustrations are adorable.
I get the feeling I'm not the target audience for Maame, and yet, based on your description, it sounds like it would resonate with me so strongly, that it's going onto the TBR. Thank you!
I've absolutely loved Vespertine, Godkiller, and Little Thieves so far this year. I have also started reading the Winnowing Flame trilogy (at your suggestion!) and it's such a fantastic read.
My favourite book so far this year was "Race the Sands" by the same author as the Queens of Renthia series - Sarah Beth Durst. I also liked the first book in the Arrows trilogy better than the following two, but liked others in the Valdemar series even more. Thank you for producing such engaging content!
I'm currently reading and loving The Arrows Trilogy thanks to your recommendation. Thank you so much for bringing attention to Mercedes Lackey! I regret not getting to her books sooner. 🧡
I have read more five stars in the first quarter than I usually read in a year, because I’m kind of stingy with my stars😊 but The Invisible Life of Addie Larue is hands down my favorite.
I haven't read anything really bad this year, but most of my favorite books so far have been nonfiction history books, lol. But I have loved Emily Wilde, The Golden Enclaves, and Georgie, All Along. I also reread The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery and it hasn't lost it's charm for me no matter how many times I've picked it up over the years.
I'm so glad I'm seeing someone talk about Mercedes Lackey. I see her books at all of the used bookstores and in B&N and I would look at reviews and she's fairly highly rated but not by many people (if that makes sense).
It does! Idk if this is part of it, but she has a fair amount of LGBTQ characters, and more-I don’t mean this politically or anything-but “progressive” concepts for her female characters (sexuality, periods, etc) and sometimes I wonder if her coming up in the late 80’s and early 90’s with that kind of content is part of why perhaps her books didn’t reach a wider audience. But that’s just a guess!
The way you described The Witch-Hat of Atelier definitely caught my interest--I LOVE those stories that start out low-stakes and cozy but get more complex and philosophical as they go on! Also, if you like regency-era romances about characters protecting their families, I'd recommend checking out Kellyn Roth's books!
City of Last Chances by Adrian Tchaikovsky, Assassin’s Fate by Robin Hobb, The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Under My Skin by K. J. Parker, and The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi were my standouts from the first three months of this year.
I haven't read all of the Valdemar Chronicle books but I've read over 20. If you liked the Arrows Trilogy I highly recommend going back to where it all began - The Last Herald-Mage Trilogy (NOTE: it's not the first chronologically). As for the best books I've read this year, a highlight has been The Adventures or Amin al-Sirafi. So much fun!
im still pretty new to reading (i mostly used to read manga), but im taking note on your recommendations lol. I'll be done with "6 crimson cranes" by tomorrow hopefully
I was actually surprised I didn't super enjoy WoK. It did help me realize I don't love "slavery" being in the majority/whole book, and heavy military components. Still a cool world though
Witch Hat Atelier is amazing! I hope they make an anime adaption 🤞 I think you would like Rhapsody by Elizabeth Hayden. It's an epic fantasy with strong focus on music. The worldbuilding is fantastic! There's a bit of romance but the story doesn't revolve around it. It's one of my favorites.
My favorite books of the year so far are Her Majesty’s Royal Coven, The Girl in the Tower, and A Taste of Gold and Iron. I plan on picking up A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting!
Witch Hat Atelier is an awesome manga! I need to catch up. I just finished Only a Monster and really enjoyed it! Really curious what’s going to happen in book two now.
Here's my best books Spare prince harry's memoir Tough by terry crews memoir The blood trials Lucky me by sachi parker her memoir she's the daughter of shirley maclaine and niece of Warren Beatty Troublemaker leah remini memoir The bodyguard by katherine center Someday maybe
I started witch hat atelier this year on your recommendation and I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the volumes from my digital library! I wish there was a anime I feel like it would be so good (avatar the last airbender vibes?)

One of my favorites for this year is Half A Soul which I picked up because you were raving about it. Definitely worthy of the hype.

I have read just The Way of Kings out of these! I have one of them though, and I'll definitely need to check out the rest!

Aww, Johanna, that’s so exciting! I’m hoping to read more Valdemar books soon-maybe we can overlap at some point and buddy read something 😄
@@ebnovels that would be wonderful! 😊
I have read more five stars in the first quarter than I usually read in a year, because I’m kind of stingy with my stars😊 but The Invisible Life of Addie Larue is hands down my favorite.
I’m hoping to read that soon!
I’m not a manga reader but you definitely caught my interest with Witch Hat Atelier ! Just ordered volume 1 🥰

I loved A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting; very refreshing! I see that Sophie Irwin has another book coming out in July.
I really need to read Way of Kings.
I finished The Lunar Chronicles this year. Cress and Winter were both so amazing!
Way of kings is really good
Ohh, I still need to read Winter!

I also recently reread Way of Kings and loved it
A new favourite for me is Emily Wildes Encyclopaedia of Faries
So far: WoT books 2,3,4, 5, and 6 along with Oathbringer and Rhythm of war, and The Lies of Locke Lamora and Red Seas under Red Skies.
I haven't read all of the Valdemar Chronicle books but I've read over 20. I had a blast reading Galaxy of Thorns: Rise of the Empress even though it got very dark towards the end.
I'm currently making my way through The Way of Kings, and wow is this Brando Sando at his best! So glad I left Stormlight for last :)
I haven't read the Way of Kings yet, but that analogy was wonderful!

re-reading stormlight is like re-reading WoT for that exact reason.
My favorite books of the year so far are Her Majesty’s Royal Coven, The Girl in the Tower, and A Taste of Gold and Iron. I plan on picking up A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting!
I hope you like it! I’ve heard good things about A Taste of Gold and Iron :D
Hey please do a bookshelf tour.
Witch Hat Atelier is an awesome manga! I need to catch up. I just finished Only a Monster and really enjoyed it! Really curious what’s going to happen in book two now.
🎉Way Of Kings🎉
Here's my best books
Spare prince harry's memoir
Tough by terry crews memoir
The blood trials
Lucky me by sachi parker her memoir she's the daughter of shirley maclaine and niece of Warren Beatty
Troublemaker leah remini memoir
The bodyguard by katherine center

What an interesting mix! So many memoirs too, that’s awesome:D
