@shirokun002 or portugual or touched the outter ports of spain, majorca and minorca had viking settlments. King Alphonse used vikings known as Lordemani or Almagus to fight the moors. Constantinople was defended by the Varangians...the dna is reflecting history.
@leeho98 ...just because someone doesnt look a certain way doesnt mean they arent what they are. not all irish people have red hair or green eyes. in fact not many people have those traits at all. The Celtic people and Vikings intermingled with each other on various occasions, like i said they invaded and settled ireland. Also Celtic is not an ethnic group, its a language. And red hair is a mutation of the human gene originating in northern europe, aka scandinavia...
I dont know any good ones in english :\, the best is generally in Norwegian or danish.. Maybe someone english could suggest something. Regarding norse mythology you could buy a english translation of Snorre Sturlassons 'Edda' (might be a bit hard though). But im sure you'll find books about norse mythology in general also if you just search on amazon or something :).
@leeho98 there is no need to start with the insults.im just saying even if the genes from thousands of years ago don't give you hair color or a type of build, you still have them, they just aren't dominant anymore, but you always retain those roots.the genes came from somewhere and quite frankly we all have a little bit of everything on this planet. and yes a person born today with Irish parents doesn't make them a 'viking' but the if you trace the family tree they might of had a viking ancestor
@leeho98 i never once called them pirates. They may not of impacted the middle east but they certainly traded with them. Of course not anymore, but they invaded and influenced ireland nontheless. In 795 the first Vikings in Ireland landed on the Irish shores with their Viking ships attacking their first Irish monastery in Rathlin Island and they continued to attack for 30 to 40 years, including settlements in dublin and cork. So like i said irish families MIGHT have viking ancestry, not they WILL
You should look up for Asatru , Odinism or Nordic Polytheism , right now the ancient religions are being recontructed in the world , no Money required :)
Well, as you hint at, it isn't a religion in the rigorous and organized sense of the abrahimic religions. While there certainly was ritual worship, I gather it was generally on a much more personal and individual level. I would just recommend studying the norse mythology as much as you can and get a genuine feel for what the gods represented and what qualities they embodied; strength, wisdom, honesty, loyalty, bravery etc. Use them as inspiration in your daily life.
sir i was wondering if it would ever be possible for me to..."convert" for lack of a better term to the "viking religion" and please trust me im not trying to be rude
A book I highly recommend is Tor Åge Bringsværd's "Den enøyde" - "The one eyed", which is a retelling of the norse mythological stories, set in chronological order. Ie. starting with the creation of the world and ending with a vision of Ragnarok. However, it has yet to be translated into English, but there are translations in Swedish, German and Estonian. As for Snorre's Edda, it's mostly about the Norwegian kings, and the mythological part has to be read in light of Snorre being a christian.
both post are great, wonderful music and visuals, thank you.
This is really beautiful - is the instrument called a bukkehorn?
12 years later yes! It means roughly goathorn or buckhorn.

He reigned for 15 years, 1015 - 1030, but was born in 995. Making him 35 years old when he died :)
I really love this music! So beautiful and very peaceful!
Who is the performer??
Beautiful, I love the background image, where did you get it?
