We like to read the same. Black and white only, 6 inches, no buttons. Completely agree with what you said about colour too! Look forward to more of your content.
I'm considering an android e reader and my options seem to be Boox Poke 5 which I can't get in the UK and Meebook M6 which I see very little information, reviews or support about.
@SteamyPMcGee poke 5 is a bit old now. Is it the size your are after? Onyx Boox iis a more known company than mebook. I would go for one of their e-readers.
@svartling yes I'm committed to the 6" size as portability and hand comfort is priority. I'm unsure the boox palma is worth the price for me as it is very high specced as a general use device whereas I would be using reading only. Poke 5 I think is coming up to a year old and all sold out in the UK. So I could get an m6 from amazon (good returns if I don't like it) or hold the trigger for what boox releases next in the poke or page line. I'm sure it's just around the corner! Meebook used to be lifebook/boyue.
@SteamyPMcGee yeah I know about meebook. Yeah 6-inch without buttons is my favorite too. Sounds like a good plan. You can also check out the BigMe lineup. They have a 6-inch I think.
I have kindle paperwhite, oasis and kobo Libra. Must say for ME, it has to be the ones with buttons as for ME it is more comfortable and easier page turns. thankfully we have choice to suit almost everyone
I purposely wanted an ebook with physical buttons, cause it is comfortable to use it sometimes. Also I loved the design of kobo libra 2, it is very comfortable, specifically considering that the screen can rotate and you can choose which side in which hand you hold, and the side grip is very usefull, comfortable. Plus it does have touch screen, so you can still use it loke that.
Yes it’s a great device. I have changed a bit about this and maybe need to do an updated video. I use my Libra H2O a lot at home when sitting comfortably
@@svartling How much does your kobo libra 2 battery last and how much do you actually use it during a day? Cause I've got mine almost a week ago, used it a few hours a day, mostly with wifi and bluetooth turned off and light on minimum and off, and it's already 20% of battery and seems like it's going down fast.
Great overview! Thank you for posting. I have quite a few ereaders, and I agree on the Kindle Basic. It is the one I reach for the most, over my Paperwhite 2021 and Oasis. I have a Kobo Clara HD that I really loved, but it is dying on me, something is wrong with the SD Card, so I've been considering getting a Clara 2e. I really like how Kobo handles metadata, enabling me to view my sideloaded book library by series, etc. That is one place where the Kindle lineup is sadly lacking, in the way it handles sideloaded content.
When it was first released there was a black one available too. They don’t seem to be available anymore. But the blue is black on the front and that is what matters I think. You find a lot of videos on my channel to learn stuff about e-readers if you are interested.
I bought the kindle signature and returned it within 24hours and downgraded to the kindle basic 11th gen ; the size was not convenient for my everyday read and I didn’t like warm light. The basic is so perfect for me!! It also supports Arabic!!
Hi, thank you for a great review! I am mostly interested in being able to borrow norwegian ebooks from the public library now that i am living abroad, so i need an e-reader that allows for other apps so i can have bookbites on it. You say the kobo 2e lets you borrow swedish books from the library, how do you do that? Or would you recommend to get an ereader like the Boox Poke5 or the Meebook M6?
My channel has videos about most of your questions. Here is how I borrow books: How to borrow an eBook from your local library and read it on your Kobo e-Reader without Overdrive th-cam.com/video/JPmGa3f7R7o/w-d-xo.html If you need to install apps on your e-reader then it should run Android have Google Play store installed. I have an onyx Boox Palma and a bigme 751c that has that. Again, check my channel. Poke 5 is a great reader
In Türkiye we don't have much e-reader options. Amazon doesn't sell Kindle to Türkiye but we have a access to the other shopping sites. Long story short I only can buy Kindle or Kobo in Türkiye. In Türkiye buying an e-reader is very expensive. The cheapest version of them is Kindle 10th generation Paperwhite 4 32 GB, 2022 Kindle Basic 16 GB. Kobo Clara 2e is more expensive than them. I'm thinking to buy 10th generation Paperwhite 4 because of the capacity. Do you think it would be logical and useful to buy this model in 2024? (It's gonna be my first e-reader)
Thank you for your comment. If you will only use it for sideloaded content, then paperwhite 4 could be an excellent e-reader. But you will not have a dictionary for your language and no support for your language in the ui either.
@@svartling Thank you for answering me. I'm not sure but I think I also can add a Turkish dictionary in Kindle. Your videos really helped me to decide. It's really nice to listen to someone make realistic comments. Have a good day and keep making useful TH-cam videos please ☺️
@edanurcelebi4123 well there is no Swedish dictionary available so maybe you have more luck than me then. Yeah I will continue doing videos about this topic 👍🏻

They are definitely a different experience. If the tablet or ipad is enough for you, that's great! But an ereader gives me a more peaceful and easygoing reading experience, without bright blue lights.

very helpful, l didn't like the oasis either and you've saved me from buying a kobo sage or libra
I’m glad you liked it 👍🏻
As a Swedish learner this video has solidified my decision to stick with Kobo over Amazon.
Good decision
Same
I’m glad I could help
Thanks, Stefan. Greetings from the Czech republic. I have Kobo Glo HD And i love it. But maybe i will buy another newer Kobo.
As long as you are happy with what you get there is no need to buy a new one.

Agreed. The Kobo 2e is bloody brilliant. The only better e-reader IMO is the Sony PRS-350.
Ok :)

thank you for sharing. if I am in the U.S. use epub files and overdrive for library books, would you recommend the the kobo clara BW or basic kindle?
i am worried that kindle will compromise the format of the epub files, causing strange indenting, spacing, etc.
EPUB files works perfectly fine on a kindle so your choice depends more on if you want to use the Amazon eco system or not.
@Ninasea I have videos on my channel on how to handle epub files and how good it works on a kindle

How wonderful to hear from a real human being instead of a disembodied robot voice from china.
Thank you. Yes I am a real human being last I looked ;)
The Storytell ebook looks like it has been 3D printet.
yeah maybe. Terrible build-quality
I'm leaning towards the Kindle Basic. I only experienced the Letto Frontlight earlier and it is time for an upgrade i think.
It’s a great device. One of the best. But better if you read English books. Not so good for Swedish books that I read mostly.
Having no allegiance to a particular book service.... I am picking up a meebook M7 and customizing it to act exactly the way I want it to
Great 👍🏻
As I am no from Sweden, I will buy the kindle paperwhite.
It’s a great device if you read in English
Does the kindle have an italian dictionary option, and do any of the models have any kind of note-taking function?
Yes it looks like the kindle has support for Italian. And yes both Kobo and Kindle has a note taking function.

Maybe I will someday. I’ve already done an update video on my channel on how to do your iPhone better for reading recently
One thing i hate is ereaders with a logo you need to read everytime you get to the bottom. Luckily tape exist. Still though, keep the logo on the back
Ok :) never bothered me though
You need none of these readers if you have an iPad or tablet
I have an iPad and yes I still need that
They are definitely a different experience. If the tablet or ipad is enough for you, that's great! But an ereader gives me a more peaceful and easygoing reading experience, without bright blue lights.
@renske9637 totally agree and an e-reader you can enjoy in direct sunlight. Not an iPad.
If you're an avid reader its much easier on your eyes to be looking at e-ink than a traditional screen
