    215/70 tires can be installed without problem on the standard suspension? How much cm lift you earn ?

    Deflation - Inflation question: do you guys use portable electric pumps to inflate / deflate your tires? I presume you reinflate them on the spot and don't go to the petrol station after each excursion. If yes, which pump do you recommend?

    Text Update - Interesting mentions:
    1. The fact that if the rear wheels are on the earth-stair, then the car climbs much easier compared with if the rear wheels are directly above on the ramp. Most likely, the engine requires less effort to cope with the back wheels and and thus all 4 wheels have a greater margin for traction deployment until the grip is lost. Having more time to move the car and get into optimum traction looks like a good thing, otherwise it risks coping too fast with the car weight when the breaks are released on the ramp and they start skating/spinning on the spot.
    2. The fact that on the same ramp you can spin-slide or climb depending on the pressure in the tires or due to the the traction-grip from a little more inertia, helps with identifying more easily the design differences between the tires.
    3. The steps/stairs of the ramp help to reduce car speed-inertia and force the tires to lose their grip if you have too much speed (the front will bump too high), so this result will force the drivers normalize speeds much more than more than on simpler ramps.
    NOTE: The video editing and the analysis work, takes almost twice as long as the tests themselves. Please then don't forget to share the video if you want to motivate such community efforts. Thank you.

    Well done on the video! Technical language questions:
    What does +/- 15% more surface spin traction mean?
    Does +15% more inertia means build +15% more speed and sustain it?

    • @DaciaDusterTrails
      @DaciaDusterTrails  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In our book, there are two big types of traction per wheel, traction crawl (when the tire does not spin) and traction spin - when a tire has high revolutions and spins very fast. As for inertia yes, you can see that you need a bit more initial speed (longer initial distance, more car inertia) to get the same result.

    Yeah, I find that my AT34s perform WAY better at about 1.8 ATM 26 psi is GREAT. 1.4 ATM or about 21/22 PSI, I find that the sidewall treads don't really have enough grip, and sometimes when the pressure is too low and you drive on the sidewall, you'll lose traction when side hilling, etc. So, I would say, don't drop below 24 PSI probably unless you're on flat ground or unless you're trying to get unstuck. Great point about protecting your engine! I guess more wheel spin DOES mean higher engine RPMs, after all. Great point!

      As for Michelin Latitude Cross, we only tests ATs but from members feedback we cannot say much about it, there is nothing impressive about it nor very bad. Its a street tire, it does not shine in offload more than any other all-season.

      @@paulomigueloliveiramartins385 Its a very old article with some very silly aspects in the review, he's comparing an all season on asphalt roads with an Mud tire, then he obviously explains its not good in mud, then a huge amount of comments about mounting the tires on rims. As you can see we test tires much faster visually and objectively rather than drive a full expedition just to feedback them with generic comments. In any case, we contacted Michelin for help in getting them for testing, if they are confident in their product or do care about 4x4 community testing rather than bloggers or journalists, they will help, if not we will depend on what our members have said in their personal experiences, that Michelin LC is a ok/mediocre tire.

    What is the deal with doing all these tire reviews on crappy little 2 wheel drive cars? Traction is always going to suck.

    • @DaciaDusterTrails
      @DaciaDusterTrails  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The vehicles are 4x4 but they can switch to 4x2, this way you can see when 4x2 fails but 4x4 works, so you can visually quantify a traction value. Also the vehicles are extremely light and thus they force the tires to work harder since their bite lacks pressure. Thus means the tire design and chemistry must work harder than the power and the car traction systems.
