"The Path of Sephirot" - Xenogears (the game that was originally supposed to be FF7, before being deemed too dark for the FF-series).
Yep... I actually still have the disc version of that game.... and play the downloaded version from time to time. probably on of my favorite games from the PS1
His fight is really well done. They've been nailing it with the primals lately.

Anyone else notice how the religious sources influence the design? The Sephirot has 10 aspects 11 if you separate the conscious and unconscious sides of the first. Sephirot the primal has 10 limbs 2 wings 6 arms and 2 legs 11 if you count the tail. This of course excludes the head but one could consider the head a representation of the godhead itself which the Sephirot is the 10 or 11 aspects of.
a fantastic video, though I'm surprised you didn't mention any possible connections with 'the bole', the constellation that represents the Astrologian card in the arcanum, as well as the bole being represented by a giant tree, the protector of the heavens. don't recall the cutscene off the top of my head, but will have to go back and look.

As an avid ff14 HC raider and a Hebrew prof at the college level, I would say that your attempt at pronouncing the Hebrew words (and their translations) gets a B+. Keep up the good work!

Do you think that we're eventually going to fight a primal that's the fused forms of all three of the Warring Triad (that's *not* Kefka)?
Ethys I have to ask as someone who appreciates the lore and mythos of the FF games what was your opinion on the FF13 trilogy story and mythos? I have played all Main FF games and FF13 as a trilogy has in my opinion the best story and mythos of all the FF games, each game as a stand alone title is meh but I feel that when you take the trilogy and piece the puzzle together the mythos and story of the game is amazing. Just wondered where you stood on this

Storyline-wise I've noticed some people wonder how the Warrior of light could beat the Warring Triad and the like.... The Question should be... How long until the Warrior of light Sheds their mortal form and becomes something else entirely... They Seem to be going that way in all honesty.
A theory:
The WoL has inheritied some of the power of Phoenix and embodies it's "Purview" that of Hope and Renewal... the hatreds of the past have caused so much despair and caused an influx of pray that it is Echoing thoughout the ages.. and has finally found a Home in someone/s that can bring true hope from nothing... The Ascians are going to try and turn the people against us eventually.
(Basically the WoL is a Proto-Primal, "Hydelyn's Chosen" is just a lovely title we are also HER hope Manifest... she has failed 6 times... She needs her hope. We are it)
Or I could be overthinking it...
WarriorTRZ And that second idea just blew my mind. Could we be altering people to worship us as a hero to keep our form stable? People that fall under a primal's influence can't be charmed by another so by us charming them we protect them? Okay yeah I see flaws with my own points but damn I like your theory.
ProfessM with the new patch Sophia has proven that our influence does not work like that

I think it might be a little bit of a coincidence, but I think there's at least an acknowledgment of a connection I'd like to propose to you: Unukalhai is the brightest star in the constellation called the Serpent, which is the serpent being held by the Snake-bearer, Ophiuchus. Ophiuchus is the star sign associated with Zodiark in the Ivalice mythology, and so I think Unukalhai may at the very least be *claiming* to be in fundamental opposition to the will of Zodiark in choosing this name, if it is a name he chose. The connection with Sephirot is this: if Unukalhai represents the Serpent, then to Sephirot and his people, he is a representation of the Adversary, or Satan, whose interference resulted in his people's being cast out of Eden.

*MAJOR SPOILERS FOR FFVII AHEAD*
I know he has not made an appearance in FFXIV (fingers crossed though). But if the Sephirot is a blue print for the human soul. Could it be possible that this served as the main inspiration for the character of Sephiroth. One of the main themes surrounding FFVII is identity both within Cloud and Sephiroth. Cloud struggling to re-identify himself upon learning much of what he believed to be himself was "borrowed" from others. And Sephiroth whom upon discovering the method of his creation. Began to hate those who did this to him and eventually the world itself. Sephiroth then set out to attain the god like understanding that would be his name sake. By merging with the Lifestream and becoming a god himself.
Very nice, always love the lore videos. But something that really got me in this patch, what did Minfilia mean when she said Zodiarc was split into 10 and 3? Thats really bugging me

Ethys, let me start by saying that I have only recently found your channel, and although I have not played FF XIV myself (not the biggest fan of MMOs you see), I have found myself watching just about every lore video you've made (as well as ARR abridged, looking forward to the next episode!) and have enjoyed both your writing and your narration greatly (Caesar Demonfucker had me laughing for a good five minutes.)
So understand that I say this with only the deepest and most honest respect I can muster, your Hebrew is god awful. Not to say that it bothered me to any great degree, and you admit in this video that your Hebrew isn't good, but next time I suggest finding someone who actually speaks Hebrew, since your pronunciation is usually better then this.

Sephirot also has a move called Tiferet ig
And Chesed, the adds are Chochmas and Binahs... Malkuth is another ability, pretty much all of Sephirot's abilities lol.
Remember when you said that Eorzea is made up of 7 elements, each with an astral and umbral aspect making it 14 total? what if Sephirot Is the manifestation of those 7 elements but in a neutral state no umbral or astral aspects and Sophia and Zurdan will be the astral and umbral manifestation of those same elements. It would complete the picture of 3 all powerful gods on the same level never able to beat eachother

well all i was thinking was that Sephirot in a way represents the universe and you cant really top the universe unless the other two are on the same level. so let's say that Ifrit is pure astral and umbral fire, titan pure astral and umbral earth etc. ifrit and the other primals would only comprise of 2 elements each. Sephirot would comprise of every astral and umbral element except pure astral and pure umbral. that makes 12 elements total. each element would counter the other, making sephirot a neutral force. Now if we add those extra elements to the other two we would get different results. Zurvan with the pure umbral element would would be a umbral force and sophia with the pure astral element would be a astral force. so each would represent the universe in a different way. but thats just a thought i had
