- Guys! I actually won something at auction! Check it out! Here we have a 1996 Sullivan D185 towable air compressor. It was sold as "inoperable", so the price was right. I don't normally gamble, but this time it paid off.
A simple problem, some parts from the cannon, and I have an endless supply of CFM's! All for less than 1300 bucks!
I'll be using this mainly as a sand blasting unit for cleaning up parts, and maybe running another CNC plasma. We'll see.
Thanks for checking out my 5 minute video. Hopefully someone in the universe can use what I learned here, for their unit.
That looks to be a great buy - nice access to all the important stuff - the newer ones you need to be a contortionist.
I'm floored at how easily it starts up. I still need to change out the temperature switch. Maybe now that its dicksnappin cold out, I'll source that little part.
What oil did you use in the compressor ?
where did you get a new sensor for that there that you bypassed? i need one too now :(
I still have to find one. I do know that I ain’t paying Deere prices for one though! This summer, I’ll drain down some coolant and pull the sensor.
@@sidetrackmetalworks2058 ok right on
i may be forced to get one off JD, but i will dig up the pn and chase one online first
thx
@@sidetrackmetalworks2058 any chance you had moment to learn the part number?
i have a sullivan paletak but i cant find my manual
and i am struggling to see it online ... just curious if you have made any headway since last week? do you have the sensor out of the motor> maybe the PN is on the part itself?
@@KhameleonKoatings I won’t be of much help for a bit. Out of town for work. It’s definitely on my list for when I get home, though. Apologies.
I found the switch that works. Turns out, it is a normally closed switch, and I had a normally open switch on there. Changed out the switch to a NC switch from Advance Truck Parts. ATP Thermal Fan Solenoid Switch 180 Deg 8037044 8037014 Hope this helps.
how to troubleshoot fuel dilution
Pour some out, and set it on fire?
I have a old 185 Ingersol and it just blows straight out the pressure relief valve when you put it on run... Any clues?
Maybe make sump safe to work on (zero psi), remove valve and clean/lube it? Sometimes they get stuck.
@@sidetrackmetalworks2058 I see what your saying but at the same time have no idea where that is
@@sidetrackmetalworks2058 this compressor is on the back of a paint truck it has 37000 hours
What is the part you are saying??? They just replaced the couplingr and I believe the oil separator filter
@@sidetrackmetalworks2058 I ran the truck for years that is always lead to large amount of compressor oil I think that is the cause of the short life of the coupling
