My favorite Motown group back then and still is. May be a Part 2 if there's any interest. All songs on the Motown label. 1. Baby I Need Your Loving #11 in August 1964. 2. Ask The Lonely #24 in February 1965. 3. I Can't Help Myself #1 in May 1965. 4. It's The Same Old Song #5 in August 1965. 5. Something About You #19 in November 1965. 6. Shake Me, Wake Me (When It's Over) #18 in March 1966. 7. Reach Out I'll Be There #1 in September 1966. 8. Standing in the Shadows Of Love #6 in December 1966. 9. Bernadette #4 in March 1967. 10. 7-Rooms Of Gloom #14 in June 1967. 11. BONUS Acappella version of Ask The Lonely...Levi Stubbs, what a voice!!!
Everything the Four Tops sang was spotless but "Bernadette" is my favorite. Oh that false ending, the instruments drop out and the background singers hold a chord. Lead singer Levi Stubbs then shouts a passionate plea "Bernadette!" before the real ending. Thanks Sonny!
Grand music! "Ask The Lonely" was, in my opinion, their best! With credit to The Funk Brothers, The Andantes and The Detroit Symphony, making these creations some of the best of the time. Part 2 would be most welcomed, Sonny. 👋
Seems sad but appropriate here. "Abdul “Duke” Fakir, the last member of beloved Motown group The Four Tops, has passed away at the age of 88." Fakir died of heart failure at his Detroit home, on July 22, 2024,
A great selection from a legendary Motown group. And yes, please, a part two. Sometime back, someone on TH-cam posted 10 song single artist playlists of oldies superstar singers, which were labeled '10 songs for you'. My favorites were female singers like Nancy Sinatra, Jackie Deshannon, and Dusty Springfield. Those 10 song playlists have disappeared...so I'm glad to see you've picked up the mantle.
In fact,Sonny it doesn't stop with the 4 tops. Martha Reeves,Vandelas. Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Mary Welles. Diana Ross and the Supremes and so much more came out of Motown. Berry Gordy knew what he was doing and tonot only make that record company famous, he put in anyone who he thought could make it work. That record company works because of Berry Gordy❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 once you're done with the 4 Tops there will be a great number of others to choose from
Levi Stubb's and his four tops were the Tops and my favorite Motown group and followed by Martha Reeves and her vandellas. Most of the guys were into the British invasion and yep I liked them just fine but for this son of Irish German immigrants it was Motown and I dooooo believe it's called Soul. Thanks, Brian

Yes, Sonny, I'm interested in part 2 !
Great selection, Sonny! I am playing this as a tribute to Abdul "Duke" Fakir who passed away Monday 22 July 2024. Did you foresee it?🤔😥👍x9
@@williambilyeu9801 No, just a coincidence.
Rest in peace Four Tops. Gone but not forgotten....Levi, Obie, Lawrence, Duke❤️

The Four Tops are absolutely my favorite Motown group! Thank you for featuring them! Anthology of Gene Pitney would be awesome!

Levi is definitely on my Mt Rushmore of singers, soul or not!
So smooooooth.
So much singing talent came out of Detroit in the 60's.

Thanks for commenting...Motown groups certainly gave the British Invasion a run for its money.
No7. IT WAS A BIG HIT...(anno) HU. SIKERES EGYÜTTES VOLT, a 60-as években... GOOD SONGS... Thanks.💯 💥
Only 1,300 views in 2 weeks with 61,000 subscribers? I guess Motown isn't popular anymore!!!
