Mr. Stubbs did heavy voice overs for several different cartoons and commercials and he had to travel to and from home in Detroit to Burbank for the sound work often. Mr. Payton had lung cancer while doing this show, died 12 months later. Mr. Stubbs quit very lucrative voice overs and underwent vocal rehab and got his blood pressure under control. A 2002 concert saw a new Levi Stubbs! Powerful vocals and trimmed down! Talent buyers were calling to buy shows again! I saw the show at the Music Conservancy. It was simply a mind blowing event! The fee went back up to $88.000 plus rider at long last but as all groups with a 4 way cut , that paycheck is cut four ways! Mr. Stubbs was offered millions to go on his own but this group was thicker than thieves!

Rip 4 Tops, God bless your good health Duke and you will to keep the music alive and well. There is no band like the guys in Dukes band.
Levi is just from another world. Singing MacArthur Park is right in his natural range. On many of the hits like Bernadette he was supposedly given lead parts to sing at the limit of his range to portray all out emotional tone. Still sounded fantastic. One of kind of talent. Damn what a performance by the group and musicians. Awesome.

This concert was done in 96. Lawrence Payton died in 97. I’m assuming that this was his last performance RIP Lawrence you’ll definitely be missed, in fact you’re missed
Linda, I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that Lawrence did a few shows after this one. I do remember going back to Vegas a few months later for a couple weeks and Lawrence had passed. This band and all the origianl Tops had a beautiful comraderie and loved working together. We did go to England on a Christmas tour a few months after this, as well, but that included the Tops, The Tempts, Billy Preston, Mary Wilson, et al. The Horn Section got to ride in Mary Wilson's bus for that whole Christmas 1996 England tour. What a genuine sweetheart she is!
ii had the unique pleasure of working with them in Cleveland,Ohio at a named the KABANA which was formally the Great Leo's Casino. Man I was part of the band and we played our asses off. Through years I have kept up with them, and when each one of them passed away I was truly saddened. There will never be a group such as they were. God Bless the Four Tops , ABDUL Fakir Duke. This is from Tony Dial .
Omg, Levi won my heart back in the early 60's with the original For Tops! I remember driving in a 1962 Suicide 4 door Continintal back in the day., playing the Four Tops on the AM Radio! Well who would ever have thought that Levi and the Four Tops would sing it out loud!
I have watched this video at least ten times and I enjoy it every time. You don't see live performances like his anymore, where you leave the audience rocking and singing on the way home.
Loved them all, and Levi was the "voice," but Obie was always my favorite Top since I first saw him as a little girl on the Ed Sullivan Show in the 1960's. His easy smile and personality was so wonderful. Like I say, I noticed it as a kid. You could tell that he loved the fans and was a nice person too. I also noticed how handsome he was as I got older and even when he got older too, a REAL fox 😍😍 I miss them as the "original" Four Tops, although Duke's keeping things alive with the group into his 80's. WOW. Best EVER. THE FOUR TOPS. I wished I had the opportunity to see them live, but I never did 😪😪😪 But they'll always be in my heart, soul and part of my LIFE. The memories, the memories, the memories. I'll always have THOSE 💖💖💖💖 There will NEVER, EVER be another musical group or mentors or MEN like the Four Tops. NOT another Levi, Lawrence, Duke and especially Obie, my ALL-TIME favorite TOP 💖💖💖💖 Thank you for posting this MyyyTune Concerts.

@@leeclarke3642 I'm 70 never be another group like them every song perfection
Levi’s voice was just amazing! Love the 4 Tops.
That is how to do a concert. Enchanting!! Thanks 4 Tops, you guys will never be forgotten.
This concert was done in 96. Lawrence Payton died in 97. I’m assuming that this was his last performance RIP Lawrence you’ll definitely be missed, in fact you’re missed
His demise seems rather evident looking back at this performance. He appeared to have less energy than the other members. At times he barely moved.
At the time of this concert these gentleen were all close to 60 and they were rocking it out. They were truely a great group.
Duke was already 60. Levi& Obie was 59 and Lawrence was 58 at the time.
This Is Great Singers and Songs
Omg, Levi won my heart back in the early 60's with the original For Tops! I remember driving in a 1962 Suicide 4 door Continintal back in the day., playing the Four Tops on the AM Radio! Well who would ever have thought that Levi and the Four Tops would sing it out loud!
too bad music isnt like this anymore. someone left the cake out in the rain
This music is still around.. just not in the forefront. And it's cool that we can still purchase it as well as listen here on TH-cam 😎🎶😊
VERY TOUCHING AND MOVING CONCERT...THE four tops were sublime...and Levi Stubbs is majestic.

Yes just epic great delivery from the Four Tops 👍🏽❤️❤️
Their songs touched your soul and brought back memories.
I have watched this video at least ten times and I enjoy it every time. You don't see live performances like his anymore, where you leave the audience rocking and singing on the way home.
me too. makes me feel good.
SUCH TALENT!
and charm...
Wow.
I loved it..levi was entertaining in every way. All the Tops together the bomb....
I'll always have THOSE 💖💖💖💖
There will NEVER, EVER be another musical group or mentors or MEN like the Four Tops. NOT another Levi, Lawrence, Duke and especially Obie, my ALL-TIME favorite TOP 💖💖💖💖 Thank you for posting this MyyyTune Concerts.
