    Hello again. I mentioned I was an electrician. I recently made a career change by taking a job rebuilding a big microwave oven (100KW) for a ceramics co. The oven was made by Raytheon and was a complete basket case needing a complete rebuild. I didn't think I could actually do the job but took it on anyway. I did it and it is working very well and now I am what I call an industrial handyman for that company, hence my new interest in machining.

      that's a great story Tony ! fair play to you, so.... what's the lathe for? hobby/ work

    • @tonythomas951
      @tonythomas951 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      mostly hobby as we have a big lathe (14 x 60) at work and also a bridgeport mill. I bought the same mill drill machine you have for my home shop. Its will soon be CNC. After 30yrs of doing electrical construction and service I was bored but thanks to that microwave I'm no longer bored. Lifes more fun when you like what you do.

    The amount of radiation you were exposed to.... I really hope you are okay/ feel better.

    the smoke from the burning metal is probably dangerous, especially with the fan exhausting it to the room.

    Did that plasma burn the beryllium oxide of the the 2nd magnetron because you could have actually filled the place with toxic fumes and not have know. Some times beryllium disease symptoms take years to develop

      Interesting point you've brought up there, I understand the dangers of beryllium poisoning, as I've turned a little beryllium copper bar on the lathe for a explosion proof hammer for my pyrotechnic experiments, so... No more of that sort of thing ! Regards Chris :)

      that takes years of working with beryllium copper mostly from grinding it to get sick from it. trust me us machinist know all about it u cant get it from a couple of exposures

      Hi unfortunately that was a long long time ago , I can’t really remember what I did , I’d say I took the first one apart intact ie I just kept all the bits wired and removed them as one unit drilled a hole in the top of the second microwave for the magnetron to poke through and controlled the the unit separately via a switch ( plug socket) great fun !

      @Battery-cat I just want to know did you recorded the maximum temperature it reach when you turn on both megnatron and is there and burning mark in the oven inner cavity

      @@ashutoshgurung4892 Sorry no way of know the heat , I was igniting titanium metal chips what ever they burn at , no noticeable burn marks the glass plate broke with the heat

    Explain to me the relationship between fire and electricity I know more than I should about science at my age and I don't get the relationship plasma is coming from the fire at some points which is why I ask and I've done my own share of experimentation

    its dangerous to play with these items, it can have risks, no safety gears.

    • @HighVoltageMadness
      @HighVoltageMadness 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ju Rehman do you really think that he had no safety gear! Microwaves don't cause cancer! Its a hoax that evetyone tels you but its nottrue at all. Microwave radiation has less energy than visible light noob!

    While i don't see how this is real, it's not a very smart idea, if you really knew how they worked you would not do such a thing.

    • @sethmuse6838
      @sethmuse6838 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheDct88 Most Christians think that is the number of the beast that will reign over the earth before the return of Jesus Christ. I think it's simply a way to represent 0123+456+78+9 = 666. And apropos of a great time to which set the microwave as a countdown to destruction!

  • @3melendr592

    Children should not play with fire! You are going to get hurt badly! Do you know what an RF burn is? Do you know the maximum exposure limit of RF at the operating frequency? I'll tell you what is used to be. 2mW/cm squared measured at the door of the oven. (Leakage)
