I think it all depends on the look you want. Macaw looks more whimsical/youthful, the Ivy looks more classic/elegant. Both would be beautiful.

I think you're getting the selection you wished for based on what I'm seeing in the comments, and I tend to agree. The lighter green is more lively and perhaps better for a child's garment, but the ivy looks a lot more sophisticated, classic and traditional.
I'm thinking Maddy would look great in a macaw, white and the coral pinkish red cardigan in thinish stripes for Christmas day, she'd love it! :) Maybe with some fun Christmas themed buttons down the front, cos you sound like you need more projects to do! :)
