In a shelter like this one, open to fresh air, with a small fire far from flammable surfaces, I don't see any reason to think this shelter is a bad idea with regards to having a fire for warmth. As I mentioned in another post, I knew a guy who lived in a plastic teepee for an entire winter & survived just fine. His teepee was bigger & more of a traditional design, but it was still a plastic film teepee. Whoa, that hand of yours looks like a staph infection. I had the same thing happen to my hand once when I barely poked it with the can opener blade on my Swiss army knife. The next day in the emergency room the doc said that if I got that infection 60 yrs earlier I'd have just died. Try not to die Lars..... I really enjoy your channel too much.
Holy crap! I hope your hand isn’t too serious! That’s a great idea about the fat wood. It makes sense that if part of a stump is rotten, and part is good, then it’s being preserved by the resin. Sorry about your channel getting de-monetized. I’d chip it, since I’ve been watching you for many years, but my boss de-monetized me.
Damn Lars that's some brutal swelling. Wish i had the financial resources to take advantage of the fast track program the gov. set up but it's not in the cards unless I win the lottery. Canada is not the country I grew up in anymore.
...epi-pens for allergic reactions are expensive, but a doctor told me a cheaper alternative was to carry a bottle of liquid Benadryl(for allergies), and to chug half the bottle if I got stung and it looked bad...

Many years ago, I was living in the Canadian Rockies and I caught lime disease, this is exactly what happen for many months, first symptôms were a hand the size of a shovel.
I've been using plastic tarps over my cooking / campfire area to keep the rain off for over 40 years. I been using a 10 x 14 foot piece of plastic tarp much like yours for my moose hunting camp to have a dry area and its directly 7 foot above my camp fire and my make shift cooking table. it has about 1/2 dozen little holes caused by sparks over the years but still is a nice dry area to sit while waiting for the rain to stop. Mine is only about 3 mil thick so it packs up nice and takes very little room but it make a nice camp / cooking area.
Install a crossover pipe between the two and you gain a little bit of torque and it actually changes the sound smooth it out a bit. I think the farther forward you can add a crossover the better.
Take care of yourself Lars.. That hand as you say was not super awesome, that's for dang sure! I work with bees. Usually not close to hospital. I'm not allergic to them, but it's possible to suddenly develop allergies to bee stings. I keep an epi pen in truck for emergency. If I do get a few stings I'll take a couple benadryl just in case.
Well that maybe local but there are many rocks, mountains and other geological formations in the taiga. For instance you have the Ural, Altai, and the Sihote-Alin mountain ranges. Also if you look at some of his past videos around the rivers you can see some rock/stone piles along some of the backs especially in in the outer bends of a river or steam.
looks like my northeast-minnesota forest land that had very little top-soil, all very thick granite highlands - last week I saw 18 trees fell down blocking my dirt road, and my dads old camper trailer was destroyed, lots of chainsaw action. I cannot fathom being in a forest the size of europe :O you are very brave mand tough guy :)
Bloody hell Lars, that hand? Are the insects over there carrying bloody napalm, mate? Good that you got it sorted, and it wasn't a deadly spider bite. Might have to get yourself a pair of riggers gloves mate, just for when you are rounding up your firewood, etc. Riggers gloves are Light leather, very comfortable to wear. Anyhoo mate, how did you sleep in that shelter? Was it comfortable, did you get much sleep? Take care out there Lars. All the best to Mrs SR and the Ninjas. Stay safe.
I got bit by something in the woods just under my ankle, and my foot swelled up like that the next day. I was thinking about how to make a bigger teepee, would it work to roll poles up on opposite sides of the plastic sheet, (so it looks like a stretcher) and a length of cord onto the top of one pole, then walk around your tripod until the sheet is all the way round, then pull the cord around to tighten up the sheet. Cut a door in later. Could even get super fancy and bring a bit of pipe for the middle for the chimney, tieing it on when you do the lashing
You need veterinarian stretching wrap tape for horse 🐴🐎 legs to pull the swelling out put some in your go bags next time it's very useful for band aid and extreme swelling.
Yikes, get the hand checked out brother! Im terrified of bugs for this reason. Never liked the idea of something so small causing me so many problems as a rather giant human. Terrified of needles for same reasons. I’d rather face a bear than a swarm of bugs.
Sir, I have a question, Where can we buy russian made and russian brands of survival, camping and outdoorsman tools and equipments? Is there a specific store ? Can we also buy it from a russian website?
Lars, while it may not be perfect, getting caught outside isn’t a great idea either, lol. At least you bring to light a lightweight opinion that could be packed easy for emergencies. You’ve already showed you can survive outdoors if you have to, but in cold/rain, it would be miserable

Most likely your hand swelling is the result of an allergic reaction to something. You should try to find out what it may have been that caused the reaction. Swelling like in in the neck can be fatal . So be careful . You may need an EpiPen
