  • This week's episode is a year-end mailbag and we're psyched to share it. There's stuff on the draft, free agency and next season. It's great. In this clip, JJ goes off on the Chris Mannix take that says Nikola Jokic and The Denver Nuggets didn't go on a great run because he didn't play The Celtics or The 76ers or The Bucks. That he only played The Lakers, Suns and Heat.

      Would have been the biggest challenge for denver. And Denver would have wanted the warriors too. Beating warriors first round, suns second round, and lakers in conference would have been a full circle moment overcoming the 3 teams the nuggets lost to since the bubble.

    • @adriandaliva1341

      I mean, Denver's losses thru this playoffs were mostly due to hot perimeter shooting from Miami and Phoenix, and everyone knows the Warriors are the premiere perimeter oriented team. Denver would still win, but a hypothetical matchup would've gone 6 because Steph Curry will always get you at least one. (GSW fan here)

  • @michaelahurt
    @michaelahurt 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    Milwaukee’s shooting is fine. It was the same as 21-22. It was a little worse than 20-21. The big difference for their offense was:
    1) Middleton wasn’t Middleton and shot 31% not 41% from three
    2) Giannis couldn’t make anything outside 3 feet, including FT. It was *BAD*
    3) Other teams caught up
    Giannis went from bring +8, +5, +6, +7 vs league average TS to +2. Khris from +5, +2, +1, -3
    Just hard to have a good offense when your top three are league average efficiency. It’s not even about the supporting players at that point. Your stars have to drive your offense, not Pat Connaughton and Joe Ingles and Grayson Allen and Bobby Portis

    • @tonyb.1905

JJ might be one of the only big media personalities who legit still felt Denver was the team to beat. If anybody thinks Jokic wasn't challenged, KAT, Gobert, Ayton, AD and Bam were all consensus top 10 centers just a year ago. They might all still be that, depending on how you look at KAT and Ayton now, but that's a pretty strong lineup of centers to have to go through in a championship run. Add to that Anthony Edwards, KD, Booker, Lebron and Jimmy, and it shows you how crazy trying to put an asterisk is just based on seeding.

    All I needed to know about Jokic, I saw in Anthony Davis's performances in the last 3 games of the WCF. The Lakers made it a point to attack Jokic, thinking he was a weak link in Denver's defense. Guess what? Game 2, Davis is 4 for 15 from the floor. Game 4, Davis is 6 for 15 from the floor. Game 3, Davis shoots well - 11 for 18 - but he's having a very hard time finding a shot to get off against Jokic, ESPECIALLY in the 4th quarter when he only makes 1 bucket in what was at that point a 2-point game.
    Jokic isn't flashy, he doesn't go out of his way to put on a show - but he's tremendously, unstoppably skilled and he's been putting on all-time performances against all-time talent. And he remains humble through it all. Love the guy - he's a blessing to the sport, and he's somebody I want on TV when my family's got kids watching.
