Great Luke, we'll be following the series. Hey guys, I am glad to announce that I have started a new role, my first full-time DA job, as a Business Analyst for a global Supply Chain and Logistics company. For context, I've been working for almost 10 years in project management roles and made a move beginning this year to switch to data analytics. I'm from Ghana - West Africa and hold a BSc. degree. Thanks, Luke and all of you who were an inspiration.

Due to overzeal, I embarked on a project only to find out that the problem has already been solved by someone else. I found this half-way and since then I was demotivated to complete the project.
Piece of advice: research thoroughly your problem first. Chances are a solution already exists. Maybe it only needs customization to your context.

    • @LukeBarousse
      @LukeBarousse  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Just because a project already exists to solve a problem doesn't mean you can't continue with it and potentially design a better solution. Better yet, you may find that the other project has faults!

This video came in time for me. I have a project that I thought was just fine for getting data from a website that updates its stats on players and teams in the EPL (English Premier League). I scraped the site using python with the aid of Selenium, Beautiful Soup and Requests libraries, then I used pandas to load the data and clean it up, the n matplotlib to visualize that data. All of that was done in Jupyter Labs IDE, and for me it was fine. But now I'm thinking of exactly what you're trying to do, because I need to look at historical trends for even better analysis, which a database would be useful for, and I need even better and more seamless visualization which I'm thinking Tableau would be useful for. Long story short, my roadblocks are first getting a database to load it into every game week, and also to find a way to get the code to run that automatically (preferably on the cloud, I was thinking AWS Lsmbda but I'm still learning about that).
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

I am a bit more than halfway done with my project. This is what I did/am doing:
    1. Imagined I was a consultant who received a problem from a client: They want to know where they should place new shops
    2. I created a few questions of my own: a. if I combine all of the zip codes in a greater area, are there fewer existing shops in certain zip codes? b. is there a correlation between income or population and the number of shops in the zip code (ie. does the average income mean there will be more shops).
    3. Collected my data from two sources: State license to find out where the shops are located and census income/zip data.
    4. Cleaned the data.
    5. Today I will do my calculations and predictions from above then decide if I can come up with more questions.
    6. Make my predictions presentable for the general public. Then I will package it for opinions online (Kaggle? )

@@rem9486 Heck yeah!! I was thinking a video about sharing all my learnings along this journey on TH-cam, so others could learn and apply my faults. But a data party sounds quite awesome as well!! Maybe both!

    Hi Luke!
    Hope you find this comment.
Thank you so much for putting out these videos.

My email ended up like an essay because i had so many questions and did want to keep asking here and there to annoy you haha.So please ignore the email. Haha
I just wanna ask what skills and tools i need to learn to create dashboards on my blog (word press).
Like what programming language and data visualization tools i need to learn to make dashboards on my blog.
I want this to be my first project as i learn more skills to become a data scientist
After completing my current online course, i will take the Google course and more data science related courses on Coursera!!
Thank you! You advice will be much appreciated!
