Oh, Poor Julian . That man can't get a break . On the positive sides, We have a confirmation that Julian is interested in dudes, but isn't successful with them, Julian has the talent for animal training, We have a new character . We finally have a polar bear.
Today was an extremely bad day and I was at the very edge of crying but then I saw that the orbiting human circus have uploaded a new video I started to cry out in joy and made, for a moment, forget everything that happened today. I appreciate you guys for uploading. Thank you thank you thank you . Thank you guys for working so hard on all of your videos
Plot twist they could pull any time: Julian is still hypnotized and no matter what happens, they could follow up with him snapping out of it and still being on stage with the
That's a really beautiful melody. Does anyone know if it's from any music tapes song or if it was just made for this episode? If it actually is from a real song it might be one of their best (along with Nantasket, Majesty and Freeing song for reindeer)
A new song - and a real one (from the Music Tapes)! Stay tuned at the end of the season for a release of full versions of this and the other new songs from Season One.
Holy shit thanks! This actually made me just listen to two of the music tapes albums and they were better than I remembered. The strongest memory i have of listening to the music tapes was late at night i was listening and all of a sudden it just made me feel really giddy so i stood in the food cupboard, closed the door, and stared at a wall. Do you think that was Julians spirit haunting me?
So far the Night Vale podcast protagonists have all been gay. Not that it's a bad thing, it's just starting to seem like they're throwing that in for no particular reason.
Spyros I agree completely, but it really is starting to feel shoveled in. Like, here is a podcast that has thus far avoided referencing any character's sexuality (because they don't need to) and op, we'll just throw in a side comment by one of the characters to confirm that he's gay. It's not subtle because it's literally the only comment of its kind in the whole podcast.
I don't think that Night Vale's lgbt characters feel forced. If you take what they say, and put it in a straight POV, like, say "My ex-girlfriend was a polar bear", it wouldn't raise an eyebrow- except for the polar bear part haha. I actually think it's a pretty casual way to integrate representation in, because a person's past experiences with sexuality and romance DO make up their experience, as well as personality. I don't see how it's any different than a straight person referencing that they have/had a straight partner. The difference is that society immediately places a heteronormative label on something unless proven otherwise. Like, movie directors who have always made straight protags/romances don't get called out for "shoveling in" heterosexuality.
saladfingers123243 i wouldnt be too hasty with that 'threw it in a side comment' thing tbh. This podcast has a tendency to bring back things that they casually mention in previous episodes, so it might become relevant in the future.
So far the protagonists of almost every tv series, popular movie, series of books have all been straight. Not that it's a bad thing. Oh wait, it is! It sucks to grow queer in this world! Except for when wonderful Night Vale presents was created, tbh these podcasts and their characters are giving me life.
"my first boyfriend was a polar bear" I snorted
Now the polar bear in the image makes sense !
god the people who play Leticia and Jacques and Pierre are just so GOOD i love them all equally and their voices are just magnificent to listen to
The polar bear :')
My son is canonly not straight :')

This episode killed me.

Arianne Wingard I think a key part of signing onto the nightvale brand is that your charecter has to be LGBT in some way.
Me 22 minutes ago: well, at least they can't possibly end the show on a WORSE cliffhanger than last time
Me now: ...... w H a T ThE f R I C K

no matter how many amazing casual "coming out" moments there are in these podcasts, "my first boyfriend was a polar bear!" is now my favorite.
