As Winter Orlando-ians for the past few years, we've lived in the MetroWest outskirts at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake. Love love loved the location - felt safe, little road noise, still heard fireworks from Universal and Disney. Surface streets to Disney took 20-25 minutes, Universal was about 6 minutes away. Teak was a favorite burger joint for sure. Crazy amenities, but be cautious which complexes you choose townhouses/apartments in, management and clientele make a difference! Excellent description!

That is a good idea. I look at google maps when they are talking about an area, but it is a great idea to have graphics for the show. (Although, they do have a map at 1:37)

I live in Polk City/ Lakeland, It takes me 35 minutes, regular traffic to Disney. New homes single family homes start around here $200,000. Older homes can be found for less. I'm a cast member at Hollywood Studio's.

Lakeland is an excellent location. You're in the Tampa/St. Pete area and what it has to offer, not far from Orlando and its offerings, and home prices in comparable neighborhoods to Orlando are noticeably lower. A hidden gem for sure.

Our daughter finally got away from Metrowest in March. They lived in a complex called The Summit at Metrowest. It looked nice when she leased it cause they showed her a "model" apt. Then when move in day came it was a dump. Roaches, gnats, pot smokers, and son in law's car was broken into. The apt was a tiny 1 bedroom for $1175 a month. It was awful. We had recently moved here ourselves and it looked safe cause it was next to a golf course. We're so happy she moved to a new, safe, and cleaner area.

I moved to Orlando in 1992. MetroWest was very nice in the early to mid 90’s. Walmart coming there changed things. I remember residents of MetroWest fighting Walmart coming there for years. Heck, they were fighting Lynx bus service going all through MetroWest. I still like that area to live but as you say, location.

Any advice on buying in the Hampton in metro west. It looks like it is close to Valencia so I am guessing NO?

Thanks guys!! I’ve been wondering because there have been times I’ve thought of moving to Orlando (live in Tampa) and MetroWest always catches my eye but also Celebration area (which is a little pricey for me). Now I know, something to look in too if I decide to live up.

Wanted to see this bc my parents moved to metro west when they first moved to Florida 14 years ago. Now they’re in altamonte springs. They are from NY.

There are definitely safer and nicer areas of Metro West than others. I lived in an apartment in Metro West that was just a few blocks from Pine Hills (off Raleigh near Valencia community college) and it was awful! Someone was murdered at my apartment complex and my sisters car was burglarized. I moved a few blocks away more centralized in Metro West near the Publix (off Lake Debra Drive) and it was wonderful!! I LOVED that apartment.

From 1995 to 2009 I lived at the Hidden Lake Apts, on Kirkman Rd. I loved taking my daily and nightly walks thru the M-W area. However, I was upset that they built a Wal Mart up there. A Target would have been much more appropriate to that area. As for the parks- my primary reason for choosing HL- I was able to walk from my apt door to either Uni main gate in just 45 minutes! Diz was 30 minutes away. I would NEVER take I-4, but Turkey Lake Rd. or Apopka- Vineland Rd. I would then park in my own, secret spot!

Moved from CT to Metro West, best decision I ever made, and the best life change I've made. Been here for 2 1/2 years, and had nothing when I moved down. Finding work is easy. Really consider the change, you won't be disappointed

Metro West has a lot of crime. I would not recommend living there. I used to live there for 3 years. A lot of cars are broken into or stolen. Also, A lot of home burglary.
