I'd argue that the lyrics fit perfectly well here. "Mothers better lock your doors and hide your daughters" is SUCH a vampire thing to say lol.

That’s Ronnie’s gf Saraya, who’s British. She also a wrestler for AEW. She used to wrestle for WWE under the name Paige.

I don’t think people give Ronnie NEARLY enough credit for singing songwriting and musical ability. He’s soooo fucking good at all of it. And I get there’s an army behind him but he just doesn’t miss.
He is the story writer as well
One thing I like about these reimagined versions is that they aren’t remixes. They’re his own interpretations of these songs . They’re the same story , told by different authors. It’s so beautiful what he was able to do with last resort , especially because that was the first song he’s reimagined that wasn’t his own. He told the same story , just in a different way. He made the lyrics hit harder and more powerful then they already do. And this is no different. He’s retelling his own story . His own battle In two very different, but very beautiful, ways. He is easily one of the best musicians / creators that we’ve had in a very long time
The girl is Saraya Bevis ,Ronnie's girlfriend. She was a professional wrestler for the WWE under the name of Paige . In this when she is in the white and a ghost reliving her life with him. At the end where he is on the stake ,she realizes she doesn't want to live without him. Great Reaction!❤
She still wrestles under her real name Saraya on All Elite Wrestling (AEW). :)
also I only had 1 reactor see the real story of this video. The white version of Paige is looking back at her life with Ronnie and how he rescued her and all other colored Paige versions are from the past. And the scene in the end is not them burning in the same second, it is her remembering how he burned and she burned herself the same way.
With blood being the Vampire’s addiction, he said this song is about his alcohol addiction. Much the same as the blood, ya know? Ruins lives around him. Each time he drinks, he buries another like a vampire takes a life. He just can’t quit it.
This song always gives me goosebumps. Ronnie’s voice, as I’ve told you in other videos, blows my mind 🤯 His singing, screams, and rapping. A triple threat!!!
I am so glad you watched the original before you watched this one because I think you appreciate the revamped so much more when you’ve seen the original.
The fact you have to spend this much time analyzing his music, to me, shows how good he is. If he thinks that deeply into creating his metaphors, in music and video, it’s real art.
You don’t see that very often. It’s old school in a lot of ways. People today cannot create and use metaphors and euphemisms to create the journey that Ronnie does. They have to come out and say it directly.
I'm glad you did this one. It's such a dark, theatrical joyride, and you always manage to bring up insights I never would have considered.

I don't agree. I feel the lyrics fit great. Maybe besides the pregnant lady part. Since this is all a metaphor for being an addict, it's perfect. Actually the whiskey is my holy water is one of my favorite lines (holy water being dangerous/deadly to a vampire as is Whiskey to an alcoholic).
I'm astonished that you didn't recognize Saraya (formerly known as Paige), since she's British and pretty famous as a wrestler. She has been Ronnie's girlfriend for several years now.
I think the lyrics "feel like a lady who's pregnant with a baby cause I'm always throwing up" ... Pretty sure this describes the terrible withdrawal symptoms when trying to get clean from drugs.
This song... im a french canadian, so my children werent the best in english when they were young. But my 5 yo daughter when she heard this in the car, asked me to shut it off.
I asked her why, and when i turned around, she had tear rolling down her face.

But the battle with addiction.. when i used to consume, i was always living at night. Going out, and i hated the next day, being hung over, in relaps, and whtvi saw was revolting. At night, i was alive again. But, i felt like a vampire.... people judging, staying away etc...

The song is about his addiction with drugs. He is a vampire from the people he loves in his life, he's zombie to his own life, he's in denial, and he's dragging his loved ones down to hell with him.
If he would have just admitted he was " a vampire" it wouldn't have caused the collateral damage to the people he loved. So in the song, his failure to admit resulted in actually being one.
His songs mean so much to so many, but that's the reason behind the lyrics in this song.

I just noticed that the piano at the start is a faster version of Moonlight sonata, correct me if I am wrong in this, but the start does hint me to the start of Moonlight Sonata.
One of my favorites common observation in all the reactions videos: everyone is silent and becomes completely frozen, minus their eyes widening, during the climax of the piece. Every single person. That part of the piece seems to drop everyone’s walls temporarily and go straight to their soul. 🥹😍❤️

Ronnie agrees with you on some of the lyrics. He have stated that he wished he wrote some of the lines differently then because he felt an obligation to the fans to stay true to the originals (though some added in this one) Both these 2 were btw Covid gifts to long time fans. He also made a free, meaning TH-cam only, Mixtape back in 2014 I believe as a Xmas gift. That however is crazy. Ronnie and friends going totally mental (especially lyric wise) He does not appreciate his early rapping in other words. Alone being his most cringe song ever he said

The parallels drawn between vampirism and Ronnie's former heroin addiction is a little bit unnerving, tbh.
Reverting to an almost animal state when he is high...."So I sharpen my teeth, because i love the way it feels when I sink into your skin and draw the only thing thats real. You dont believe in me? Should I write it in blood?" That references the needle and how torn he is between the guilt and shame of using and the "bloodlust" or the craving caused by his addiction. Even the line about "always throwing up" fits, because thats what "good" herion does when you shoot up, you instantly puke.

What I have always wondered that nobody else seems to notice...is there a connection between The Drug In Me Reimagined and Revamped? When he is sitting at the piano in this video as a vampire...I noticed in one cut from Reimagined that he is at the piano - the eerie sound with the strings is similar - and you can see fangs when he opens his mouth wide...like a vampire. And the scream at the end that tears out your soul. Hmmm. So curious about that!

If you haven't already, you should check out the band Parkway Drive (aussie metal band) . The song Karma would be a pretty good place to start with them. It's one of their earlier ones but it's really good song and a pretty unique video for the genre
I feel the same about his lyrics feeling out of place sometimes in his remakes. I also agree his remakes are way better. Especially this one. I absolutely love this version, and completely loathe the original. 😂
Can't change the lyrics, it's about addiction even if they made the visuals more obvious; also, he didn't lie, he lies to himself. That's why he admits it at the end.

For context Teddy. "Mothers better lock your doors and hide your daughters" is an old ass expression about a man so hot that women would just fall at his feet if they're a mother/daughter. Also vampires like having their "brides" so the lyric still makes sense
