He left every cell of his soul on stage. Love Meat Loaf and Jim Stienman.

I was at this concert, a meatloaf concert was incredible. Meat has said that he creates a different character to tell the story of each song so what he was doing at the start was getting into that character. He was the most unique singer ever, most performers will draw on memories of love/ loss to sing a song, he would use his extensive acting chops to become the person in the song that’s why he’s shows were so theatrical and why he was exhausted after the show. He wasn’t just standing there singing he was giving everything of himself for every song. Unfortunately he’s voice wasn’t the best on this tour he’d had trouble with it for a long time but once you get past that and dive into the show, wow. His music works perfectly with an orchestra, thanks to Jim Steinman.

The licking the finger thing is the trigger he uses to get into the character for bat. He sings every song as a different character and that’s the trigger he uses to tap into the character for bat

That's right. He explained that in the interview with Dan Rather.

Only Meatloaf was seriously willing to die on that stage if he had to, with the share effort he puts in. The most effort an heart an soul, that any musician has ever put in on stage. Meatloaf is for sure number 1 at that. Epic!

Great reaction to the legendary Meat Loaf guys ! He was the King of Theatrical Rock music and always gave his all on stage. That whole concert is a must see performance with him , his band and the MSO together and is on a DVD that I watch whenever in the mood for some Meat Loaf !

You can see why the BAT OUT OF HELL album still sells over 300,000 copies every year.

Bat Out Of Hell was one of those rare things, that every artist can only wish for, the perfect album. There just isn't a bad song on it. Whether you play the songs individually, or listen to the entire story, it is faultless.
Add the MSO, and there is an entirely new dimension.
The MSO is very experienced in playing rock music. They toured with Elton John, then later with John Farnham in the 80s. They both released excellent live albums of their tours.

Wow! Thanks for this reaction. Meat Loaf has played a very important role in my life, especially when I grew up. His music ‚told‘ me how to play the guitar, the piano, the drums and overall the harmony. There is no one else on this planet who can compare to him. Great guy, great music and great friends. Thanks again!

I feel as if a part of my youth died with the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being. Marvin Lee Aday (Michael) AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the decades of memories.

Meat had lost most of his ability to sing, but he gave us all he had to give. You really need to listen to the original album version of this or something much older to understand how incredible his voice was.

Imagine an entire concert like that LOL. He put on the most AMAZING shows, as you can tell. The nametag indeed read “Meat,” and that became his childhood nickname. The “loaf” part came when he was a heavyset teenage football player. Aday (Meatloaf) accidentally stepped on his coach’s foot, and the man yelled, “Get off my foot, you hunk of meat loaf!”

Phenomenal performance but if you haven't heard the song before then do check out the original...so much more awesome guitar in that. Also another song from the same album that no one ever does a reaction to is You took the words right outta my mouth, it's awesome and please do the original.

Btw great reaction. I loved watching both of your faces as the song progressed beautiful.

Not my favorite version but more of a tribute to Jim and Meat! Hard to make a real rock song sound like rock with an orchestra! More pop sounding than Meat sounding! But he was getting old by this time.

Not my favorite version of the song. Certainly bigger, but bigger is not necessarily better. I miss the interaction between Meat and Patti.
@9:45 it looked like he was missing the interaction with her, too.
