Thanks for another great video Karen. I find your videos very calming and you also make me laugh. Great therapy for me cos my life also is very stressful, being a full time carer for my wife. I still have time, thankfully to get out wild camping now and again and find your videos inspiring. I camped on Dartmoor on 24 Aug at Sourton Tor, and it was quite breezy walking up but very still overnight. Looking forward to your next wild camp.

That baby wild pony was so cute 🐎I for one loved the bra hanging in the background haha! Yeh, August was freakin freezing wasn't it! I never even got to try a multi-night trip with my superlight gear this summer as it was too cold. It looked real gorgeous and atmospheric up there. Nice to see that the Naturehike took the winds well. So sorry about the migraine, they are awful. Hope it didn't go one too long for you. I get like a flashing half-circle in my vision when one is threatening, so weird. Much love to you and yours! Xx

Hahaha it was so grim packing up in that but the wind man, honestly nearly knocked me off my feet when i had to leave the protection of the rocks!! It was reported as gusts of over 50mph and I can well believe it! We will definitely get a group camp in one day - love all you guys!! Thank you so much for watching!! xx
I went through that way on my first ever Dartmoor wild camp. Bloomin' love it! Also, that little Cloud Peak will take some punishment, which is super reassuring (even if it is noisy!) So lush to see you out on the moor again and just LOVING it 😊 Also, that Arcade Made beer is the absolute bomb 😋. Hope you have an amazing weekend lovely xx

Hi Karen, just discovered your channel and obviously I have subscribed! Last time I was on Dartmoor I was eighteen years old and in the middle of Royal Navy Officer basic training. I hated it and was kicked out of the Navy soon after! I am now 53 and planning my first ever wild camp up there to "reclaim" Dartmoor for myself. Love your vids and as I'm on a budget I love your faith in the Cloud Peak as that will probably be the tent I go for, it seems to be so highly recommended by wild campers who can't or won't buy Hillebergs etc.

Another successful camp under your belt. Lovely area too. I camped in the spot on the top that you looked at first and walked from the same starting point (I guess) Is a lovely view from up there. I continued on the next day all the way to Grey Wethers stone circle, round to Kes Tor and back up on the other side of Cosdon Beacon
Wow that sounds amazing! That must have been a good few miles! 😳 That spot on top is so perfect and flat but definitely glad I found a more sheltered spot! 😂
@@ksgonewild it was a nice stomp. About 20 miles in total. It isn't a bad spot at all but the wind was just catching the top of my tent. Your spot was definitely a cosy spot well tucked away. Looking forward to your next camp 😊

Ahh! Yes it was the same spot as i camped a few weeks back , the weather there can be brutal! However i havent found the nine maidens even though ive been there several times lol. Looks like you had a entertaining time!
Great video as always (must see if I can find that beer for hubby!). Oke Tor is a great spot but always full of sheep poo, Steeperton is too (and foxes!). There is a nice swim spot near the nine maidens, well known so I wouldn't be sharing any secrets (but it would have increased the uphill bit a bit), Cullever Steps, so if you go that way again (you might know it). Hope the migraine cleared, horrid, I find I often have bad headaches (not migraines thankfully) after hiking, not enough water is always my problem (and too much beer/gin on our first camp!!!!). Looking forward to your next video (glad you saved your muff by the way 😉🤣). XX Oh and I prefer a slow uphill rather than a steep one :)

Really nice part of the moor, a number of good camping spots. Looks like you chose the most sheltered part of the tor despite the sheep poo! Interesting fox footage, i was visited by a fox on Watern Tor a few weeks ago, pitch black, it scared me witless! Went on its way eventually, thank goodness!
I am so waiting and wanting to do this sort of thing! Sadly I am still 'on the list' for a hip replacement, so I know I will still have about 6 months at least before it can become reality. post op Thank you for keeping me mentally going and getting through the pain whilst I wait for my op. You are such an inspiration 😊 I might have to call you my Auntie Karen😂😂 Those ponies, wow, cuteness overload. Get them a lot up close in the New Forest. Unfortunately no wild camping, but a few reasonably open campsites around. Do you ever get a bit emotional with the views? I was totally amazed when I was there last December for the rally in Princetown. And my recent wild camping adventures on SWCP (finally). I too suffer with migraines 😢 not sure of the trigger. Definitely keep hydrated. Squinting doesn’t help, I wear sunglasses even on overcast days. And on/near water, kinda like snow blindness. Thanks again. Take care x

Hey lovely.. about baking or burning burgers.. maybe you can look out for a flamespreader.. those you can use on a gasstove in your kitchen! Mostely lightweighted ❤ About that migraine.. yeah.. Mostely behind my right eye.. and sometimes 3days.. can't have ibuprofen.. so i tried a coolgelroller and that relieves 50% or more for a long time! I bought you some beers popped in my mind 😅.. went looking and saw that you've thankt me ❤ it's strange that i didn't got a message!? Thnx for sharing you're living daylights ❤🥰👍
It's cool that the burgers maintain their size after cooking and as much as I like to use ear plugs ..I feel thats the night where something goes wrong and I can't hear it coming.
Never been bitten by a fox on the moor but I did get stung in the Trossachs when a wasp got in my helmet just as I overtook a car. That was fun ignore the pain get past the car and at a safe distance pull over. Took my lid of and the wasp flew casually away. The pony should take your advice and leave no trace maybe.
Oh goodness that sounds scary!!! Getting stung in the Trossachs sounds nasty too 😂🤣 And yes, that darn pony needs to definitely leave no trace, as do the sheep and cows 😂🤣
That pitch looked great, I'd love to camp on Dartmoor but tis a long way from home. If you ever feel inclined to kidnap my wife and I to experience the moors feel free lol.🙂 Been to stone circle years ago whilst on hols, amazing place. Legend very similar to that of the Rollright stones in Oxfordshire, people turned to stone for dancing on the sabbath. How very dare they!!
Hi Karen, another excellent video. Absolutely love your chilled, try anything, honest camps. Watched a few of yours now and really enjoyed them all so have subscribed. On a separate note, I’ve recently brought a cloud peak 2 but the guy lines were not pre-attached. Apologise for the basic question but for the life of me I can’t seem to work out how to use the guy tensioners. Any advice would be massively appreciated and thank you for your fantastic content 🙏
Ahhh we’ll thank you so much! I’m really glad you’re enjoying my channel that’s amazing!! 🥰 Excellent purchase too so well done lol!! Hmmmm… as for the guylines that tricky to explain in writing. Ideally you need to do a bowline hitch at the opposite end of the guyline to the tensioner. Pass that through the loop on the tent then put the tensioner end through your loop and pull it tight. Then slide your tensioner up the guyline and put your peg through the loop you create at the bottom. The tensioners kind of grip the guyline so to loosen it you need to almost unclip the line from it. Not sure if that makes any sense at all? Hopefully it might kinda help. 🥰

Awww hey!!! Thank you so much!!! I absolutely love my CP2! The hood can flap in the wind yes but no more than other tents in my opinion. I wind the cords around the poles to get it as taut as possible and I’ve started using ear plugs at night anyway so it really doesn’t bother me. It’s an incredible tent for the money!!! 😍😍
@@ksgonewild thank you for replying that’s really useful! It’s the one tent I found that ticks pretty much all my boxes ✅. One main thing I look for is a nice big open door that when you’re pitched you can look out and see the beautiful views you worked hard to get to! I see a lot of other great looking tents like the Wild country helm 2, but it has this small triangular door which blocks off half the view 😂
@@jazclemmie literally the only thing that niggles me is that if it’s raining and you sit in the porch the rain does drop potentially into the inner but I live with that as literally in every other way it’s awesome!

people just dont realise how important to your mental wellbeing is boosted by seperating yourself from the modern world and all the BS that comes with it. a few hours sat surounded by greenery can make a world of difference, and if allowed a simple real fire can satisfy primitive parts of the brain. its been a long time since i last took some time out, but did last weekend, short walk to a wood i have access to, sat under a tarp and lit a little fire up, 5 hours later and a walk back at dusk, nicely reset for the week.
Hi Karen, Sounds like you had plenty of wind to cope with, nothing to do with the burger(s)🤣😂. Look on the bright side you didn’t get eaten alive with midges. Glad to hear about your condensed hours, from your last video sounded like you needed that. But what next for you and hubby, working from home, taking early retirement, starring on “Escape to the Country” with Nicki Chapman and bursting into tears at the sight of a wood burning stove😀. Smell of the burger fat would’ve attracted the fox in. ⛺️🦊. Dunno how Si managed to get chomped by a fox, they can get a bit brave if they’re used to people giving them food in a location.

I went out on my boat for the first time in ages the other day, definitely good to get out & see the world from a different perspective 🛥️. No good sitting at home thinking about the trips you wish you’d made the effort to take. I’ve fed foxes in he UK, especially in the colder months, they look cute but when you’re up close you get to realising they’re not domesticated. I wouldn’t be scared of them unless I had toddlers with me. Their poop utterly reeks & they’re not too far behind in the pungency stakes 🧐😝.

@@ksgonewild it was a nice stomp. About 20 miles in total. It isn't a bad spot at all but the wind was just catching the top of my tent. Your spot was definitely a cosy spot well tucked away. Looking forward to your next camp 😊

Great video as always (must see if I can find that beer for hubby!). Oke Tor is a great spot but always full of sheep poo, Steeperton is too (and foxes!). There is a nice swim spot near the nine maidens, well known so I wouldn't be sharing any secrets (but it would have increased the uphill bit a bit), Cullever Steps, so if you go that way again (you might know it). Hope the migraine cleared, horrid, I find I often have bad headaches (not migraines thankfully) after hiking, not enough water is always my problem (and too much beer/gin on our first camp!!!!). Looking forward to your next video (glad you saved your muff by the way 😉🤣). XX Oh and I prefer a slow uphill rather than a steep one :)

Really nice part of the moor, a number of good camping spots. Looks like you chose the most sheltered part of the tor despite the sheep poo! Interesting fox footage, i was visited by a fox on Watern Tor a few weeks ago, pitch black, it scared me witless! Went on its way eventually, thank goodness!

Little tip. If you drop a decent sized coin like 10p or 50p on the stove it will reduce the flame strength for simmering or cooking burgers 👌👍

I was totally amazed when I was there last December for the rally in Princetown. And my recent wild camping adventures on SWCP (finally).
I too suffer with migraines 😢 not sure of the trigger. Definitely keep hydrated. Squinting doesn’t help, I wear sunglasses even on overcast days. And on/near water, kinda like snow blindness.

Hey lovely.. about baking or burning burgers.. maybe you can look out for a flamespreader.. those you can use on a gasstove in your kitchen! Mostely lightweighted ❤ About that migraine.. yeah.. Mostely behind my right eye.. and sometimes 3days.. can't have ibuprofen.. so i tried a coolgelroller and that relieves 50% or more for a long time!

Never been bitten by a fox on the moor but I did get stung in the Trossachs when a wasp got in my helmet just as I overtook a car. That was fun ignore the pain get past the car and at a safe distance pull over. Took my lid of and the wasp flew casually away. The pony should take your advice and leave no trace maybe.
Oh goodness that sounds scary!!! Getting stung in the Trossachs sounds nasty too 😂🤣
And yes, that darn pony needs to definitely leave no trace, as do the sheep and cows 😂🤣
That pitch looked great, I'd love to camp on Dartmoor but tis a long way from home. If you ever feel inclined to kidnap my wife and I to experience the moors feel free lol.🙂 Been to stone circle years ago whilst on hols, amazing place. Legend very similar to that of the Rollright stones in Oxfordshire, people turned to stone for dancing on the sabbath. How very dare they!!

Hi Karen, another excellent video. Absolutely love your chilled, try anything, honest camps. Watched a few of yours now and really enjoyed them all so have subscribed. On a separate note, I’ve recently brought a cloud peak 2 but the guy lines were not pre-attached. Apologise for the basic question but for the life of me I can’t seem to work out how to use the guy tensioners. Any advice would be massively appreciated and thank you for your fantastic content 🙏

Excellent purchase too so well done lol!! Hmmmm… as for the guylines that tricky to explain in writing. Ideally you need to do a bowline hitch at the opposite end of the guyline to the tensioner. Pass that through the loop on the tent then put the tensioner end through your loop and pull it tight. Then slide your tensioner up the guyline and put your peg through the loop you create at the bottom. The tensioners kind of grip the guyline so to loosen it you need to almost unclip the line from it. Not sure if that makes any sense at all? Hopefully it might kinda help. 🥰

I absolutely love my CP2! The hood can flap in the wind yes but no more than other tents in my opinion. I wind the cords around the poles to get it as taut as possible and I’ve started using ear plugs at night anyway so it really doesn’t bother me. It’s an incredible tent for the money!!! 😍😍
@@ksgonewild thank you for replying that’s really useful! It’s the one tent I found that ticks pretty much all my boxes ✅. One main thing I look for is a nice big open door that when you’re pitched you can look out and see the beautiful views you worked hard to get to!
I see a lot of other great looking tents like the Wild country helm 2, but it has this small triangular door which blocks off half the view 😂
@@jazclemmie literally the only thing that niggles me is that if it’s raining and you sit in the porch the rain does drop potentially into the inner but I live with that as literally in every other way it’s awesome!

a few hours sat surounded by greenery can make a world of difference, and if allowed a simple real fire can satisfy primitive parts of the brain.
its been a long time since i last took some time out, but did last weekend, short walk to a wood i have access to, sat under a tarp and lit a little fire up, 5 hours later and a walk back at dusk, nicely reset for the week.
Sounds absolutely perfect!!! Brilliant way to unwind and reset well done!! 🥰🥰

Glad to hear about your condensed hours, from your last video sounded like you needed that. But what next for you and hubby, working from home, taking early retirement, starring on “Escape to the Country” with Nicki Chapman and bursting into tears at the sight of a wood burning stove😀. We must wait and see.

I went out on my boat for the first time in ages the other day, definitely good to get out & see the world from a different perspective 🛥️. No good sitting at home thinking about the trips you wish you’d made the effort to take. I’ve fed foxes in he UK, especially in the colder months, they look cute but when you’re up close you get to realising they’re not domesticated. I wouldn’t be scared of them unless I had toddlers with me. Their poop utterly reeks & they’re not too far behind in the pungency stakes 🧐😝.
