I was in Scotland last month and asked a local guide to recommend avoid whisky bar. The Bow Bar near Edinburgh’s Golden Mile was his choice. Fantastic selection of whiskies and a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I told the barman I was looking for a light-moderate peated dram and suggested Caol Ila. It was fantastic. I flew from Edinburgh to Southampton at the end of my trip and was dismayed to see a wonderful variety of duty-free whiskies that I couldn’t buy as I was flying domestic. Much to my pleasure there was a small section of bottles available to all passengers. Caol Ila was among them!
Tough question! They are all great for different reasons, but if I had to pick my favourite of those it would be the Lagavulin D.E. Being 16 years old (as opposed to 10 like the rest of them) it brings a more mature and refined mouth feel with a perfect balance of smoky and rich sherry sweetness, hard to go past it!

Wonderful story my friend! It’s great when we find those moments with a specific whisky that takes it from a drink to a moment 🥃🥰
Just bought a bottle - looking forward to trying it on the back of this review - thanks Wade!
Hope you enjoy it!
I found it oily yet light. It was thoroughly enjoyable and it should appeal to most while still being solid for the enthusiast.
A really nice middle ground isn't it!
Once again, great description.makes me want to get a bottle and watch this video again. 💜👑💥💸
Thank you brother 🙏
Ahh my man, glad you enjoyed. Absolutely Nailed it. would love to try a higher age statement from Caol ila, maybe the 18
Thanks for the bottle brother!!
One of my favourite drams. Always reminds me of a flambé pear for some reason
I like that!
Recently, we bought a bottle. Now, we wish we had a case of it.
It's like that isn't it! thankful Caol Ila is VERY easy to come by and in just about every variant you could ask for.
out of these four whiskys .. Lagavulin D.E, Ardbeg 10, Port Charlotte 10 and Talisker 10 .. which one is your favorite and why? :)
