so basically this mv is peter pan inspired & so they said that in this mv they were all afraid of their shadow but they couldn’t escape. when all the 13 shadows gathered, the shadow grew bigger and another world unfolded before them and a new story of seventeen began. so the ending concept is most likely their new concept for the album (SEVENTEEN DARK ERA LETS GOOO)
but i think it’s also about growing out of ur youth like peter pan was :)

Actually there's a clock/watch under the water everywhere on MV (especially when hoshi try to put his watch under water) it's means seventeen want to watch/clock stop clocking (so they can keep their youth, to playing, having fun as you can see they always seem happy on that 'youth world') once vernon figured that they doesn't have shadow that's when seventeen having doubt of the "youth world" and then the clock start clocking again the youth world start crumbling and they back on the reality which is the dark side

So basically Carats figured it out real quick that this is a Neverland/PeterPan concept. It has to do with shadows like in Peter Pan, Teddy bears like the youngest one always held, Pixie Dust near the end before the drop into another world, and Wendy's full name (in the book I believe) is "Wendy Darling" which is where Darling probably came from! a lot of carats are theorising that seventeen are in a peterpan + the lost boys storyline, carats are wendy darling, where they’re living in a peaceful and serene life which is a symbol of youth, they’re unaware of the fact that they aren’t living in the present. when vernon discovers that they actually don’t have shadows, they manipulate time so that they escape living in the past and end up in a dark present. carats are assuming that the ending of this mv will be the concept of the next mv so uhh DARKTEEN SEVENTEEN MAYBE??

This is just my own interpretation based from the MV and other Carats’ theories as referenced from Peter Pan. In the story of Peter Pan, he is in a place called Neverland where it was filled with fun, adventure, and color-basically youth. No one grows old in Neverland, just like Peter Pan and Lost Boys. The girl in the story named Wendy Darling met Peter Pan and travelled to Neverland. She experienced youth there, but ultimately, she realized that she had to go back to where she belongs, her own reality. In this MV, the boys can be seen experiencing neverending youth in a very magical place similar to Neverland. This can be seen by the imagery of timestop theough the clocks submerged in water, or the clock with a metal stick blocking its hands, and the one Hoshi submerged in water (labelled boyhood). Then one thing they noticed was that they didn’t have shadows. Vernon was shading himself from the sun, but only the flying bird’s shadow was present so he told the other members about it. Shadows may be their symbol for the reality or the illusion/dream they were in. The moment they noticed that, everything slowly fell apart. I think it started with the ground, then their cute stone house weirdly disintegrating like dust as they tried touching the walls. The smiley face paintings also melted. Their shadows also grew across the music video which may indicate getting closer to the other world, the darker side. Basically every setting, from the reeds, to the church-like structure, and even their house is where all youth was experienced, and all of it disintegrating is like them being hit by the reality that youth isn’t everything, or at least that’s not how life works. Basically there are 2 alternate worlds, one filled with brightness and happiness (youth), and the other something darker where they can experience scars and gloominess. In the end, all of them were sucked into the other world where the next part of the story would be told. It is possible that this is hinted by the 3-part painting Jun was looking at the wall, and the moon/eclipse might have something to do with it. That’s all I interpreted about the MV.

This waa exactly what I thought! I also have a sort of disconnected idea. In the MV, one of the books says "Shadowless days". When you think about it, the only time we don't have shadows (we're shadowless) is when we're in the dark. So I can feel darkteen coming and I'm not ready 🥺 the same way the didn't seem ready to face reality in the MV 😭 this was such a beautiful music video ❤️

wow i'm so early lmao but since i am early here's the theories carats posted on twitter, they said that seventeen were peter pan and they were in neverland, carats are Wendy Darling, if you pay attention to the part where vernon grab joshua's arms (during the first chorus) when he was holding the flower shua's shadow didn't appear, but after a while in the video each members (like woozi seeing himself on the mirror as well as jeonghan) their shadows started appearing which they said meant that they are now aware that they are just in a fantasy or like escaping boyhood (if you have checked rock with you's teaser they also mentioned 'boyhood' in there). In the bridge part of the song, there was a clock that was stuck and not moving but when the clock started working again they fall back into reality. If you noticed during Jun's part where he was removing something on the wall and it has a painting, it shows the two worlds that they are in.
During the intro joshua was reading a book, if im not mistaken it translate into "A day without shadows", when they were playing scrabble the words they formed were "Shadows" and "Grow" while the book that Wonwoo (?) and Scoups that they're reading is titled "Growing Pains" while in the teaser, one book that was shown was "Peter Pan"
When pledis tweeted the announcement of the mv release they put a hashtag which is #ep0, which confirmed our theory that the continuation of this story would be on their next comeback which would be the full album release

10:15 it says “Boy Hood” referenced to the skateboard they broke in ATTACCA (the broken skateboard also has boy hood written to it or atleast edited in)
Edit: Carats are saying the mv is atleast based off of Peter Pan. They’re also saying that their next album might be a dark concept based on the things showed in this mv.
carats are theorizing that the mv was referencing peter pan!! the story started with vernon finding out how he doesn't have a shadow, and goes on to tell the others who are having fun within their "home". it is believed that the boys are in neverland wherein they are not growing old, which can be correlated to how seventeen's concept usually comes around the thought of "enjoying their youth" which has been their concept since debut until 2021 where they expressed how their music grows with them thus, would mature. their "home" can also be compared to the pixie hollow as they share the same features. as the mv progresses, it seemed like they are slowly gaining their own shadows, symbolizing how they might've found a way outside neverland, explaining how they had their shadows which may also mean that they are now leaving their youth and how they chose to grow up! there are other details but i don't really know how to explain it further TT , but this is only a theory so we don't know if it is true!

Ok, here my theory: Dar + ling is the myth of Plato's cave, I explain. In this myth, reference is made to what we are trapped in a shadow world that we consider "the real thing", however, the real thing is outside the cave. In the myth there is a group of prisoners (Svt) who are chained since their childhood behind a wall. The fire lights up the wall and the prisoners see their projected shadows and they believe that this is the real world. They are happy in that world because the shadows can be manipulated. One of the prisoners breaks free of his chains and begins to climb. The glare blinds him (Vernon) however as he gets used to the light and goes outside where he observes things in the real world. The video shows Vernon overwhelmed by the light. In the myth, this man returns to tell his companions about him since he feels that he must help them ascend to the real world. Vernon shows them how what they are used to seeing is not what is real since they only see shadows, what is real is what casts that shadow. Vernon shows Joshua how objects have a shadow and that shadow is not the real thing, but the object itself and explains that they must go out to see the real world, that is why Hoshi is surprised and throws the flowers, because they had never noticed that objects projected. Vernon has brought them that "light" from the outside to be able to glimpse reality clearly, so the boys discover that they themselves have a shadow and that is when they go out in search of the "real" and go through the red door that represents the exit to the world. We can interpret this not only as finding what is real in terms of the physical but finding themselves, leaving a fantasy world to find who they really are and everything that this involves. Going to the surface can be painful since everything you know as "real" is not. In the painting on the wall you can see the outcome of the story, they go through a world of shadows, accept them and come to reality. . For now the boys are at the middle point, where they are confused by everything but the story will continue with the album where we can see them reach the "light" of the real. We see that the idea of shadow refers to both physical and mental growth. For Peter Pan to have a shadow means to grow, for Plato to recognize that the shadow is only a shadow and not the real itself, is intellectual and philosophical growth. So that's what DARLING is all about, growing and evolving, that's why the constant symbol of sunflowers that symbolize adaptation and evolution. At the end we see how all the boys take off a blindfold and that is when they are able to distinguish their shadows because that is when they discover themselves.

I think the Peter Pan theories fit perfectly the mv and I also wanted to point out the repetition of the word "Fear" throughout the video which I think it might be related to their song "Fear" (and therefore "Fearless") and the concept of it. You can see how at the beginning of the mv they live all together enjoying food, painting their faces, singing, etc. and the atmosphere is bright and sunny ---> they have nothing to fear. But when they realise they have no shadows they start to question what is actually happening around them and the place becomes dark and destroyed and they have wounds on their faces ---> now they have something to fear.
Also the concept of "two different worlds" can be seen on their "Fallin Flower" mv too, where they also appear struggling and fighting but surrounded by flowers, just like the flowers we've seen on this mv.
That's exactly how i reacted when i first saw the mv, "what just happened?" . At first it seemed like such a nice and bubbly song. Then i watched it again and realized it's actually pretty morbid too. Then i read some theories and MIND. BLOWN.
I think the song talks about a relationship that is slowly falling apart and they represent the side that slowly has to realize that things are not working out as they sound, the part that "needs to take off the blindfold and realized not everything is bright and colorful".

Basically they're stuck in a Neverland (which represents the memories of the past 7 years of Seventeen) and it's like a dream land where time doesnt move and they don't have shadows because it's not real. But they start to notice they don't have shadows and time starts to move again (the clock has a pin in it, but the pin breaks) when time starts moving again everything starts to break down, it's like reality is catching up with them and they fall into the harsh reality that everything is different now. Reality is the dark world. I think they said it represents their fears about moving on from the past and moving into a new era of Seventeen.
The one in hoshi’s part i think it says “Boyhood”! And also the part where theres no shadow in joshua it says “Fear” too! We’re theorizing the TT for the album itself is pretty dark bc of these hints and the ending😮💨

They went into the other world at the end of the mv. the shadow represents their "worries". Their worries grew and that's why the shadows start to appear. Also, according to an article that was released today, it says that their upcoming full album that will be released on May will be a continuation for this. And hoshi said, the upcoming album will be "hot and passionate". I know these are just a few information and not theories but i hope they help you to understand the mv better.😊
I think the meaning of the mv is moving on from youth, where everything is fun and full of love, to entering reality, where not everything is full of joy. Idk though.
the part where you zoomed in with "???", the part where vernon is holding something, they all nod to FEAR (their song). the pretty scenery nods to "Oh My" and "Fallin' Flower". The general concept is growing up and waking into reality, that's why carats theorized that it was based on peter pan. I've seen the mv multiple times now and have yet to watch it again, as well as reactions from other reaction channels to catch some stuff but my explaination is just scratching the surface, can't wait for their cb! 💗

Seventeen's MVs are always visually attractive, packed with details and thought provoking. It's challenging to understand the lyrics while simultaneously admiring the member's visuals and guessing the storyline/symbols featured. One needs to hit the rewind button frequently to decode all elements and connect the dots.
This time, I took a different approach; without seeing the visual, I just listened to the lyrics and tried to figure out the message. I felt like this is part 2 of Vernon and Joshua's "Two minus One". In that song, they were being in denial of not feeling lonely and had moved on, although at the very end they shouted truthfully 'I'm lonely!'. Here they kinda embrace the fact that they were indeed felt lonely without her and willingly showed their fulnerability of being honest. Seeing Vernon and Joshua in the start of the MV, I thought my interpretation was on point. But, after watching the whole video I was like : Ups, boy I was wrong I guess! The Peter Pan concept of boyhoods and all the symbols (clock, shadow, mirror) are just beyond my imagination. Kudos to SVT to come up with such a creative touch!! Can't wait for their come back and see what they have in store to, once again, wow us!
