    I used a funnel I have 2 kitchen funnels

      That would have been helpful! I only have a wide mouthed funnel to use when I’m canning but I may need to get a smaller one!

    When they talk about vanilla bean to alcohol ratio, they are talking about a liquid measure of alcohol, not by weight. So you would use the measure on the measuring cup. No need for the scale to measure the alcohol.

      @@lifeonswezeastreet the difference will be that it's either a little too strong or a little too weak. :) But yes, a general rule of thumb, if it's liquid, use a measuring cup with a pour spout on it. If it's a solid (like rice or brown sugar) use a measuring cup that has a flat top, so you can level off the top. The only thing you might want to use a scale for is something that's to large or weirdly shaped that you can't get a true measure in a cup (like a piece of meat). That being said, many bakers use a scale to measure ingredients (usually in grams) because baking is literally like chemistry. You have to be as exact as possible for it to turn out right.
