So I've been playing around with this thing a bit more and it does seem like you can actually save amiibos on it! If you go into the amiibo database, find an amiibo you want, then click down the button until the list of menus shows up that includes "Save As", save it to a slot and then you can use it from the "My Amiibo" menu under amiibo database, I just tested it in smash bros and saving works! I'm still yet to get file transfer working, it would be so much easier if this had an SD card slot or USB file transfer...

The reason why you can't scan the Link Amiibo is because you can only scan one Amiibo per Nintendo account.

Does it require hacked or modded switch?
It doesn't, I used it with my unmodded switch OLED in the video and it recognises the amiibos perfectly fine.
