I remember sitting in the menu screen after finishing the game, realizing what it meant and just... staring at it. Contemplating it as images of some of the choices i made in life flashed before me. All accompanied by this amazing soundtrack. Funny how such a violent game leaves us in an empty state of emotions in the end, huh?
Enemy Combatant The man wearing glasses in HM2 official image is named Beard, who fought the war between the USA and Russia with HM1 protagonist called jacket and saved him during the war. Beard got nuked by Russia in 1986 after he returned to San Francisco, which made jacket mourn the loss of his best friend and gave him enough reason to follow the anonymous phone calls that instruct to kill Russian mafias in HM1. Eventually in HM2 ending Miami also gets nuked, taking many lives including jacket’s and then you realize main menu of HM2 shows exactly when the bomb hit the city EDIT: the poster shows the last moment of Beard in San Francisco.
when you beat the game at the end a nuclear explosion goes off killing many of the players including pardo pardo's friend (can't think of his name) and richter it is unsaid if richter and jacket make it out alive though but every now and then after the credits the hotline miami 3 title screen appears hinting some people may have survived
As a fan of the games I have made a cult that’s the exact same as Christianity but we play hotline Miami for a good half hour and pray, it currently has 14 followers
The story really shreds on how pointless our fighting, relationship problems, and arguments with eachother as humans is, how pointless the violence and killing in the game is in vain for the fact of the nuclear bomb... something that ends up killing us all, proving that all the fighting was meaningless, it was all for nothing, as in the end we all end up killed by the same bullet.. Death.. a power which we will never control.. it shows how much death is apart of life, and how sometimes we get so caught up in meaningless affairs that do nothing but add to the pile of regrets and uselessness in our future, if we so have one. Live, as much as there is death.
Yeah you are right and the sad thing is in this case, at least I think, because everything got nuked, the pointless fighting and killing in the game itself is most likely going to be forgotten. It will be world war 3 where the focus will be the battle against Russia and the U.S if the entirety of it didn't get destroyed. As to the events that led up to it, I think over time it may be forgotten in place of the new fighting, violence, and death so the cycle will repeat under different circumstances. Even though Biker survived, his drunken and self-destructive antics is causing to forget 50 blessings in itself, or rather their cause. I could be wrong on my perspective, but the fact remains, the violence will continue and it is a haunting thought.

Me and my roommate start chatting it up, when all of a sudden, i hear my dad exclaim out of pain, maybe even fear.... I hear a loud thud... To spare the excruciating details, my dad had a freak accident. Next thing i know, the paramedics are about 11 defibs "clears" in.... And he's in a gurnie... Shit was haunting me. Couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, i couldn't be me... 3-4 days in, ready to say my goodbyes to my dad. I wake up to my dog barking like crazy, and my roommates sounding like they're having a house party. I go into the other room, and theres my older brother. In a time where i had nobody to comfort me but my dog, a disinterested (ex) girlfriend, a best friend with his own life to live, in a time where i needed the old mans advice the most, and he tries to kick the bucket... My older brother was my fuckin saving grace. With him came his old friends who i also became friends with eventually, now that i wasnt 8 years old and obnoxious to them. Me and my older brother fought our battle. He knew how devastated i was, and he was too. But he knew i needed the helping hand. Cuz after he leaves, it'd just be me and my unamused gf again. He whips out a big old hard drive, plugs it into my computer. We smoke a bowl, watch some youtube, have some laughs for old times sake. The hard drive finished importing files, he turned my laptop to me, and says "choose a game" hotline miami 2, first selection. I had just chosen randomly. Im not one for modern 8-bit games. But this game has a nice little spot nestled in my heart. The second the first notes of this theme hit my ears, i just quietly cried instantly. 20 year old me, crying like a bitch.. It felt good, crying like that after so many years of being pent up... If you made it this far, the world lost a legend a while ago. No celeb could amount to what he did, he was rich in heart, mind, and soul. Took care of boys who werent his blood, fathered the fatherless. I miss hotline miami, but i am also kinda glad it ended with one of the best games to ever be published. I definitely wouldnt want to see it become repetitive and get stuck in a constant loop, something like Far cry 3-6

+Keeps I mean, you COULD argue that everyone got what they wanted in the end: Richter died taking care of his mom, Manny had gotten the attention he wanted (although he was also hysterical), Evan either worked on his book or reconciled with his family, the actress drank herself into a stupor, and Jacket occupied himself with menial tasks just like when he broke up with his previous girlfriend. Everyone was doing something they felt needed to be done.
I love how the peaceful nature of this music does something different to me after I have knowledge of HM2's ending. It's the same song, but context is all.

I was 13 at the time and for some reason the tone and progression of the song pulls me back everytime. being 23 now it's an odd feeling listening to this it makes me feel wholly empty yet excepting of the pain and loneliness life tends to deal. either way that you for the amazing games and music that somehow was designed perfectly for the moment I needed to breath and think. much love -someone you'll never meet ❤✌
You go trough another cigarette, cruising down the empty highway. No traffic, no radio signal to be picked up, no words spoken, nothing. Just you and the highway. Whatever happened, to make these streets empty? And why should you care? You ponder as a voice inside your head tells you to get out of the car and go into the ocean. Into the sunset, into the unknown. It's a good thing you brought your bottle though. It drowns out every other thought and melts life's problems into a sweet elixir of alcohol. It lets you speed down your highway. Goodbye.
The real sad realization of this all is the fact we wont be getting another one of these games at all or any time soon at least...just makes this screen more sad then ever.
10:00pm in Florida, gyms and everything else are closed, routines all fucked up. I’m alone at the park doing pull ups and dips and I come across this song and I just caught some introspective peace while looking out at the water. Last few days have been pretty fucked up for many reasons, money issues, medication issues, but this was like breath of fresh air. I’ve heard dust and a few others, but not this. I think I’ll go home and download hotline miami
It's honestly sad. When you think about it this games story is just a little heartbreaking to see, Beard especially as he really didn't deserve to die. He just wanted to have a good life and even though that meant he had to kill he still did it despite not liking it. In the end though he still died.
Imagine this. Sitting on a beach in Miami. When a sudden flash appears. You realize it's not someone's flash on their phone. It's a nuke. You just sit there. Knowing that it's over.
Jesus Christ, I don't think I have ever liked a more in-depth story than Hotline Miami. I played it and thought it was just violence, there was so much more when I looked into the story. This is one of my favorite pieces of media that I think will stick with me forever.
It wasn't obvious to me that the image of Miami in the background is during the instant the nuke hits, but now that I know I have to say that detail is REALLY clever

I know it's just a video game but it's one of the few video games that will sincerely make you think and that's because it has so many meaningful lessons I was kind depressed after finishing hotline Miami
The lesson of HM2 was basically things fade away over time. Nothing you can do to change that outcome. Nothing you can do afterwards except move on. Much like how Dennaton has moved away from the HM series. Much like how a irradiated city crumbles. Much like what happened with Beard. Much like everything.

a couple days ago i finally finished getting 100% on Hotline Miami and decided to boot up Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number to have a crack at it, and i got stuck, staring at the bright endless pink, for something so active, it was quiet and i got lost in it, i thought about my family, i thought about all the time in my life that i'll never get back, i thought about my future and what's to come, i thought about my life and what it's meant to me, what my life has meant to others. i decided to talk to my mom for a bit before starting the game. you only get one shot make it count

I legitimately thought it was a hurricane. I figured there'd be a major storm to symbolize the absolute chaos caused by 50 Blessings towards the end of the game. When I realized what it actually was... goosebumps.

is it weird that this is the song that stopped me from killing myself? I was 13 at the time and for some reason the tone and progression of the song pulls me back everytime. being 23 now it's an odd feeling listening to this it makes me feel wholly empty yet excepting of the pain and loneliness life tends to deal. either way that you for the amazing games and music that somehow was designed perfectly for the moment I needed to breath and think. much love -someone you'll never meet ❤✌

Last few days have been pretty fucked up for many reasons, money issues, medication issues, but this was like breath of fresh air. I’ve heard dust and a few others, but not this. It's honestly sad. When you think about it this games story is just a little heartbreaking to see, Beard especially as he really didn't deserve to die. He just wanted to have a good life and even though that meant he had to kill he still did it despite not liking it. In the end though he still died.
All he really wanted was a peaceful job, a peaceful life, but in the end all that got him was a peaceful death.
Imagine this. Sitting on a beach in Miami. When a sudden flash appears.

Jesus Christ, I don't think I have ever liked a more in-depth story than Hotline Miami. I played it and thought it was just violence, there was so much more when I looked into the story. This is one of my favorite pieces of media that I think will stick with me forever.
I only played this because my buddies said I wasn’t good enough to beat it. I cannot believe the grip it took on me

I know it's just a video game but it's one of the few video games that will sincerely make you think and that's because it has so many meaningful lessons I was kind depressed after finishing hotline Miami
The lesson of HM2 was basically things fade away over time. Nothing you can do to change that outcome. Nothing you can do afterwards except move on. Much like how Dennaton has moved away from the HM series. Much like how a irradiated city crumbles. Much like what happened with Beard. Much like everything.
Listening to this the day I finished the game years ago and now makes me feel more appreciative of what I have in life

a couple days ago i finally finished getting 100% on Hotline Miami and decided to boot up Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number to have a crack at it, and i got stuck, staring at the bright endless pink, for something so active, it was quiet and i got lost in it, i thought about my family, i thought about all the time in my life that i'll never get back, i thought about my future and what's to come, i thought about my life and what it's meant to me, what my life has meant to others.
i decided to talk to my mom for a bit before starting the game.
