Billy is my favourite and the reason I started playing drums. First saw him in 1978 in London with Jack Bruce and John McLaughlin and many times since. I have been fortunate to have spoken to Billy a few times and he is such a humble man. This is one of my favourites, I just love the subtle way he plays. Thanks for sharing
Just a phenomenal drummer, still looking well after all these years, and gets around the kit with relaxed ease while pulling off lightning drum fills. An incredibly powerful, dextrous and rhythmical drummer and one of the all time greats.
I was playing a translucent set of Fibes in the seventies myself. The outside shell surfaces had a kind of popcorn look to it. I loved the ball and socket adjustments for the ride toms. A very durable kit. Loved it.
My favorite left handed drummer. Watching you I learned to play both R and L as I was right. Ginger Baker taught me a few things about double bass. Retired now, but it was a hell of a lot of fun.
Check out @ about 2:30 the way his open left hand is riding, its crazy! I am a drummer almost 60, I wish to have the skill of just one of Billy's Limbs 18 years from now ! Peace from Detroit MI.
My advice as an old drummer like you is let your left hand talk. Sounds corny I know. Your left hand leads the right.. I'm traditionally a right hander also. But an old video from Ginger Baker says it can be done. He was a right hander. His motto was, "Don't limit yourself to right and left hand. Use both as if they were the same. They have the same capabilities.
