      @@Emmanuilb I'm curious because I've been working on multiple home renovations in the past year while taking time off from school after pursuing a business degree and realizing I'm not very interested. I am very book smart but working in the homes and watching the progress has sparked my interest in residential construction. My state university has a residential construction management program that I might start in the fall, but I am wondering about your journey in this career. What was your first job like out of school (assuming you studied for your degree) and what are the hours like for a job like this? I am also curious about the salary but you touched on the profit sharing vs percentage in the beginning of the video so I assume there are different ways to approach how you're paid. I live in Nashville, TN and would love to stay here, and the housing market here is lucrative. I guess I biggest worries are about how competitive the job market would be here and if I would be overworked and end up stuck at a desk for years after working for my degree. That is the reason I decided against business. I am a huge people person but also love to work with my hands and get things done, so I think that I would do well in this field, but I would hate to not have time for family or getting home late and not being able to tackle projects of my own at home.
      I am sorry for all that I have typed out, I'm sure you're a busy man and am not expecting a reply anytime soon. Thank you for the video, it made me feel a lot better about choosing this path but I guess I still have a lot of questions because I don't know anyone personally who is in this field. Thank you! Have a great rest of the week/weekend

      I used to major in Mechanical Engineering. I switched to Construction Management because I didn't like the designing in mechanical. The business classes and some of the civil engineering related classes in construction management made me interested in this field.

    As a project manager, do you spend more of your time and days at work in the office or mainly on site?

    • @Emmanuilb
      @Emmanuilb  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Mainly on site and driving around. most of the summer is spent at the projects and getting paperwork signed and meeting clients. I would say 25%-40% of the time spent door knocking. During the winter however, its 65% of the time in the office or at the home office and the remainder of the time at the project or with clients.

      If you’re in a state that gets hit by hail a lot just look up the top rated companies on your area and get interviewed you don’t necessarily need any experience. Majority of your job will be sales (door to door) and the rest is project management.

      Yes, you don’t need a degree at all. Basically you can’t be afraid of door to door knocking and you manage your own projects that you find so it’s a mixture of sales as well.

      Robert their are a few ways you can work in this industry I started as just a sales guy going door to door in hail affected areas. I do the same thing now but I manage the entire project from beginning to end. So meeting adjusters, putting together material orders, supplements and making sure the job is getting done correctly and cleaning up an extra time after the crew is done.
