- This is my personal take on a very popular match up that has been debated about for years online. As the powerful Conduit Cole from the Infamous franchise will take on the Blacklight virus Alex to see who would win a fight.

My two main favorite games back in the day next to Saints Row :D
Hell fucking yeah man, also loved Saints Row 3&4 But prototype and infamous are in my number one spot of greatness, I wish the studios could make a sequel to each tittle.. and since Xbox and Sony have made a recent "alliance" the idea of a game made by Devs of proyotype and infamous would be the greatest super hero game in history, specially if they make it multi plataform since they announced an "alliance"

Kessler crushes Augustine with ease. He literally has all Cole's abilities and more, and by the end of InFamous 1 Cole should still be superior to Delsin in the end of Second Son.

Cole is more of a superhuman warrior while Mercer is a killing machine with godlike abilities. While Cole is more likable, on account of not being a sociopath, Mercer is clearly more powerful in terms of strength and the variety of his abilities.

@@naif8493 I was talking more in terms of sheer power levels. Sure, Cole can use lightning to destroy one area/group of enemies, but Mercer can essentially obliterate everyone in a much larger area around himself. It's not a question of 'who's cooler' but rather the scale. Cole can be taken down by a group of regular armed gunmenwith ease if they can outflank, corner and focus-fire on him. Mercer meanwhile can take care of a small army in minutes and even if he's overwhelmed, he has options to attack, defend or flee. Not to mention that in comparison, their fighting styles' differences also give Cole disadvantages, as his shock weapons aren't quite enough to destroy Mercer and his hand-to-hand prowess isn't enough to contend with Mercer up close. (Ironic that Cole can control lightning and yet Mercer is codenamed Z.E.U.S.) Don't get me wrong, I love Cole as a character and superhero, much more than I like Mercer (especially after the rubbish treatment Alex got in Prototype 2), but the comparison stands.

That's a really good arguement but you can forget Cole's fight or flight techniques and also some of his defensive techniques that can give him the edge against his opponents
Big Tubby Alex has some defensive skills too, he can create armor and and a large shield and he gains the skills and memories of the people he consumes. He also survived being blown up by a nuke and he’s also able to rip a tank apart with his bare hands.
Last time I was this early you were still in season 3. Anyway, this’ll be good.

Can`t really disagree with the verdict. I do believe Cole might be able to get a draw depending on how Mercers blade weapons work. If Cole got stabbed and did not die instantly Mercer would in theory give Cole a direct line to electrocute him since his metal blade would conduct electricity. If stealth was not allowed i also think Cole could have a shot as he can at least deflect most mid to long range attacks with his shock wave and possibly take Mercer down with a Lightning storm if we assume that Mercer can`t simply run out of it.
It's true Cole has the longe range advantage but from what I can tell from his blade consume animations, it can one shot if he wants to. He tends to play with his prey though so it's not his style to go for the one shot.
Alex fought this one blackwatch agent that had an electric weapon which would keep Alex away if he got too close. I think someone who is made of electricity would probably have a shot at defeating alex

I really wanted to hear your opinion on this one and figured this would be the outcome. I said before out of the two infamous is the better game (though prototype is a hell of a game also) and Cole is the better character I just couldn’t see a way Cole could put Mercer down.

Cole got a lot more powerful in Infamous 2. And he had a lot more experience, and if it's evil Cole (Infamous 2) than it wouldn't be much of a battle.

@@BlyssOblyvion Cole can't... Neither can the Beast. But Cole with the Beast's power, most likely. The Beast alone destroyed many cities such as Empire City, and a few more off camera, so that with Cole's already OP status is just not fair. Put Alex Mercer against anyone else he wins easily, the Beast alone, he got it, Cole McGrath alone, it's over in less than 5 min. But Cole with the Beasts power combined. Hiroshima might be gone again messing around with Cole with his own evil version of his powers, the Beast power's, and a few of Nix's power's just to go on top of that.
Great analysis, I would definitely have to agree, Alex Mercer would be too strong for Cole.
However, you did make a minor mistake about Cole's ability to sense enemies. It doesn't matter if they are disguised or not. They show this in inFAMOUS 1 during a side quest where you have to locate a disguised Reaper Conduit that basically shape shifted into a civilian.
That being said, Cole might've been able to keep Mercer from doing a sneak attack but Cole still wouldn't be able to overpower Mercer in a fight.

I agree with the verdict, if we only look at the first games of the respective series and without looking at comics or sequels for extra information (although the prototype comics don't give Mercer much). Cole should still be much faster than Mercer, since he was able to react and move out of the way from Kessler's lightning. Although you could say it was mostly a reactionary feat, Cole could still fight Kessler who could also dodge his lightning straight up could move out of the way of Cole's lightning bolts. But Mercer still has directly superior defensive feats, surviving multiple gas tankers exploding on him with zero damage earlier in the game, a feat which low balling it is still more directly impressive than anything Cole has survived, minus... The Raysphere Blast. The Raysphere blast is definitely the biggest issue with this debate, if you believe it directly compares to Cole's durability at the beginning of the game, then he'd be tougher than anything Mercer has ever contended with even in Prototype 2. If not, then Cole doesn't have much. However, Cole at the end of a good karma playthrough does destroy the raysphere, which can survive its own blast, while it was in a protective container. So, Cole is potentially faster than Mercer and can blast him into pieces. Although even then, Mercer has shown the ability to harm beings who are immune to thermobaric missiles, such as Elizabeth Green. So, with his armor modes on, he could potentially escape some of Cole's stronger attacks without too much damage.
Infamous 2 cole is even worse, since he's dodged light speed attacks and can gravely harm the beast who was unaffected by nuclear bombs. Although, you can make the Supreme Hunter "I could even withstand this" argument, where Alex in prototype 2 probably gained so much strength as to be able to withstand the nuclear bomb that turned him to paste in prototype 1, since the Supreme Hunter was pretty assured of himself that if he absorbed mercer, he could withstand the nuke. Alex never absorbed the Supreme Hunter, but it's very likely that even at the beginning of Prototype 2 (most definitely at the end) Alex would've been equal to or likely have surpassed this Supreme Hunter-Mercer fusion.
However, it really does boil down to the Blacklight Virus just being something Cole has never EVER faced something quite like it before. Regardless of which versions you use, the Blacklight virus is just too much. It effectively makes Mercer immortal and Cole has never shown immunity to anything as potent as the Blacklight virus. Even with the stronger, more evil versions of Cole, who would just speed blitz and blast Mercer to pieces, Mercer would survive if even a tiny bit of himself existed.
In a pure battle, ignoring Mercer using the blacklight Virus to infect Cole, it really does come down to Cole's electricity reserves for all of his move's vs Mercer's biomass reserves for regeneration. It depends on which one you think will last longer, especially if it's a fight in a city. Cole can definitely blast Mercer into pieces, but Mercer can regenerate from basically anything Cole can throw at him. I feel like potentially a more "Even" fight is prototype 2 Mercer vs Infamous 1 Cole, who you can make more arguments of for him being able to take more of Cole's attacks without being blasted to bits and who is also faster, thus reducing the pretty big speed gap between them.

@@lilnutt5580 We're talking about electricity here. Any living tissue is vulnerable to it. Even Mercer's mutation/blacklight virus. We're also talking about the guy who managed to defeat John White aka The Beast. Alex can't even tank a Nuke blast, he just has good healing once he starts consuming, which Cole will never give him the chance to do in the middle of a fight. Saying a Virus beats Electricity is the same thing as saying that Ice beats Fire. Cole definitely has the upper hand in this one.

When it comes to arguing over Cole's radar pulse functionality and if Alex does have electric weaknesses, Cole can detect Alex's presence beyond his disguise. He did the same with Conduit Reapers and is capable of detecting electricity, enemies or Blast Shards from behind in a diameter, like an actual radar.
Plus, Alex's disguises can be detectable by UAVs, Super Soldiers and Viral Detectors, which would make up the difficulty of stealth in Prototype.
As for electricity weakness, in Prototype 2, it's proven false, even by word of one of the creators, since Heller destroyed substations of a Blackwatch base, close-range or long-range without getting injured. So, there's another proof electricity is just like anything to a vulnerable human.

But Alex also got an Infected and Thermal vision to locate or feel if Cole is near, and if we count feats from Prototype 2 Alex gets an upgrade on his Infected Vision this time being a Viral Sonar, used to Hunt his target, he uses this to find James Heller everytime he fucks up with his plans and Heller Himself got the same Viral Sonar at the begining of the game

Mercer curbstomps than consumes cole making him a conduit as well as a rapidly evolving super virus. Even if cole does somehow manage to gain the upper hand mercer would just change his appearance and slip away from the fight than start consuming the people close to cole for information. He would eventually find zeke and than stab cole in the back when he least expects it.

I have never played prototype and would prefer cole to win, but seeing as how this is infamous 1 Cole without his most powerful Lightning abilities nor his ice abilities, I'm inclined to believe that Alex would win...at this point in time.
There's no way in hell Cole is beating mercer I've played all prototype games as well as all infamous games and mercer is like a godlike killing machine, mercer can be chopped into bits and still regenerate. The only way to defeat mercer is to have the same abilities as him as seen in prototype 2.
Caleb Stephan there are many ways to beat Mercer actually. For instance a character like iron man destroys every cell in His body.
Also it depends on the Cole we are using beast Cole bodies alex( nothing he can really do honestly telekinesis disables alex)
alex would still be able to kill cole but would have trouble doing so since alex is devastating in close quarters would cole would be severely damaged just from a few slashs or punchs from alex blade arm and muscle mass

I think that Mercer isnt weak to electricity, but like you said, vulnerable to it. So if you hit Mercer with a bullet vs a lightning bullet, the lightning bullet would do significantly more damage. That would just leave the regeneration ability to take care of the rest.
Essentially, every single cell of Mercer has to be destroyed in order to kill him. The good news is, Cole is one of the few people with an ability that can burn and disintegrate a target into nothing.
If Cole and Mercer fought in an open, abandoned city with endless electricity, I think Cole would have a 50\50 chance. If he can summon an Ionic Storm several times, as fast as possible, recharging as soon as he fires the last one, he theoretically could just keep zapping there cells away until not a single one remains.
But Cole would have to get the first one off on a direct hit, and then probably a second one to keep Mercer down long enough to recharge, before repeating. If Cole can’t get that first one off, he won’t be able to deliver any sort of killing blow.

I just realized that this argument is about physical stats against magical stats. Alex would be tough to beat but if stun is accounted to cole’s electric can be helped in the fight. All of Alex skill are all himself, it means that, while more resourceful, means any kinda status effect or conduction can possible affect him even when defending. It honestly think cole has more of a chance then what he says

Your wrong, he doesn't have a chance at all. Mercer has reactive evolution(like DC doomsday only he doesn't have to die to become immune).
Alex gained electric resistance after the fight with cross and his stun baton(something ppl like to use as a counter feat all the time).
Any more attacks from electricity(like coles power) would just make him outright immune to it, which essentially neuters a massive chunk of coles power in the fight.
I mean Alex gets a single hand on his it’s automatically over I love Cole but this is like static shock vs Venom carnage hybrid on steroids
But its like the static shock is physically weak so he runs and shoots his electric while his opponent is far away baway and doesn't fight like man while venom does close combat that could do some serious damage to his body when venom goes blow after blow and it will kill static. Now with alex mercer cole its the same thing. Alex punche force could blow off coles head off of his body
There are two things we forget. Cole’s powers evolve to eventually morph into cyrokinesis or napalm manipulation or the beast power. And the beast is shown to be able to drain the powers of others, and even if this was normal cole, cole still woul have an advantage, as infamous 2, after absorbing power from the RFI, cole gained unlimited energy seeing as how he used his most powerful attacks on the beast without needing to recharge. Also, the radar pulse detects bio-electricity, and is shown to be more powerful in 2, and as good as Alex’s shapeshifting powers are, there’s not exactly showing how he’d change his bio-electrical signature.
This is not Infamous 2 Cole. This is Infamous 1 Cole only. I even state that if Alex were to take on Infamous 2 Cole there is a good chance Cole could pull off the win.
If this was Death Battle, Cole would win simply because Infamous comics are published by DC.

@@magicmanscott40k I think the first boss you fight is a Hunter, but once you consume it, they become mini-bosses shortly after do to you having the claw ability, making your attacks way more powerful.
yeah I think they wanted to use that for supersoldiers in prototype 2 as they charged attacks glow like blue lighting but they just punch you without a shock/stun tazer effect
But remember the more blacklight is exposed to the same element multiple times he adapts so if the fight would draw out long enough with fights here and there Alex would soon have better immunity to electricity
@@voidthehellhound3686 like he did to... wait actually that is really slow as both Alex and James are suceptible to fire and high temperatures, completely confirmed in the 2nd mission in P2 where Heller was getting cooked. and in P1 even tho alex took a rocket point blank this still knocked him down and made him disguise to consume the last blackwatch trooper.

Found that I can just keep electrocuting something metal like a fence and then absorbing it to heal and get my charge back.

Not during infamous 1. Alex's virus is specifically designed to perfectly replicate how a subject's body operates. However durning infamous 2 Coles pulse radar was enhanced by John White to detect viruses like this.

Radar pulse requires the person to have a nervous system to detect the neural energy, to which a virus doesn't have.

Not to mention, if Cold didn’t vaporize Alex ASAP, it’s is theoretically possible for Alex to adapt to Cole’s Electrical abilities. At that point, Alex could just walk up to Cole, given Cole hasn’t become stronger by some other means.
On a side note, Alex Mercer existing in the Infamous universe is ultimately terrifying. The guy can add genetic material to his own and mimic all of their skills. And conduits are genetic, via the Conduit Gene. Alex, running around and amassing these powers would make him nearly unstoppable. His powers, plus the limitless powers of a SINGLE conduit.

Well look at it this way. Two sandbox superhero games that came out (if i remember right) with in months of one another and that have pretty big fanbases. @@Mcmrw-kx2el actually false, the ray sphere (small town level explosion) did little damage to cole and he was right at the center while it tore everyone else apart on the atomic level even the beast who has multiple city and mountain level feats. comparatively alex was way outside of the maximum damage area of that nuke plus his polarity could arguably absorb the blast and at least reduce the already vary little damage he would have taken.
I always said alex can beat cole because his powers are mostly one shot kill while imo some cole's powers are one shot kill. Look both of these series are some of my favorites, but honestly cole wouldn’t stand much of a chance, I mean is he strong? Hell yeah, but he’s not nearly as overpowered as Alex.
Cole casually fights being who destroy cities with ease and he takes shots from
Them. cole has one shot the rfi with his lightning which it's own blast did nothing mind you it took out an entire city with its explosion and it was left unscathed. Cole is able to dodge kesslars lightning which moves at about
27000mph. And I could be wrong which I very much think I am it could be faster.

@@darrylisaac9400 there is more to it than just that, also you are assuming that the electricity they shoot is as fast as lightning, but mostly I say this because they have limited power, and Mercer is practically immortal, so really Alex would just have to power through coles attacks until he’s out of power, at which point he has to stop to absorb more and Alex can grab him, which as soon as Alex gets his hands on anybody, they are as good as dead. Both of them are extremely powerful but Alex just has greater defense and stamina in a fight. At some point it won’t matter how powerful cole is, because his power is dependent on his ability to recharge, which slows him down and gives Alex an opportunity
@@alpharius3661 look at the video lmao cole is much more durable than alex and he's also more powerful and has better reaction time. alex is faster at movement speed cole has been able to react to beings that teleport he has taken hits from the beast who casually nukes cities. he also nuked empire city which would take at the least 50 megatons of force alex got hit with a nuke in the kiltons and exactly 75 kilotons. and cole has taken hits from the beast who attacks are in the megaton range maybe in the gigatons alex gets one shotted. Coles stats are way to much alex and if you don't believe anything I say watch the video.

Sure cole is more durable, but I never said he wasn’t, one of the core game mechanics of infamous is needing to recharge your power, he cannot last long enough to defeat Alex in a fight

I'd raise eyebrows at the 220mph stat. Mercer's speed while running up a building does not translate to much greater than his ground speed. He may not even be running flatfooted up a 90 degree angle. I'd wager he's making like Dio and shoving his feet into the wall
Either that or using biomass to grab/stick to the wall. Another thing is that in prototype 2 we see multiple examples of infected being restrained by electricity. But with the parameters of the video, I have to agree. Although the disguise scenario is a bit lame in my eyes. Traditionally vs battles are done head to head, not if one hid and surprised the other, at least not to start. By that logic someone who Cole doesnt know could just shoot him when he walks up to them.

Bro im 10 minutes in and I have no clue how Infamous 1 cole can possibly beat this
I feel like people underestimate Mercer's speed and reflexes.He can outrun helicopters,dodge missiles mid-air and just go through 4 or 5 blocks in about 10 sec with his Double Dash and Glide upgraded to max. And not only does he have strength but he can charge every attack for more damage and if you combine that with his Musclemass ability it's over. His Claws Groundspike is very powerful,you can escape the helicopter strike team in seconds with the Hammertoss ability and the Blade ability's Air Slice is a one shot for everything other than bosses. Plus he still has he's most powerful attacks:The Devastators.Two AOE and one for a single target and he can use them on the ground and in the air.He has the Bulletdrop Bomb which he can do from very high places and is powerful enough to damage buildings.And he's trump card is that when he's close to death he becomes invulnerable for a few seconds and is able to unleash one devastator attack to save himself.
This guy is powerful enough to take down most superheroes let alone this sorry excuse for an Electro.

I’m high af but how did the first Kessler in Infamous have a Kessler to make him choose between the doctors and Trish?
He didn't he went on to marry Trish but when the Beast arrived he chose to run with his family instead of fight. But eventually the Beast caught up to him and killed his family so that was the moment he decided to go back thru time and train his younger self so he wouldn't make the same mistake.

The electricity weakness was proven false in prototype 2 with heller, plus the weakness was never once shown in any game and was just a theory. You also said that Cole could beat him by using a concentrated blast on mercer, you have to take into account that mercer ain't just gonna stand their and let him blast him, mercers regeneration is also too great for anything Cole can dish out, the guy can regenerate from being completely obliterated. The only time he was ever shown to be defeated was by heller who consumed mercer with the same powers that mercer had, he has never shown to have any other way to take him down except by consumption
Now Alex Mercer will gain his power's, we know just how OP both are. After that he face the marvel zombies and infecting them all, using his army and while they eat the army of Alex Mercer they are infected including zombie venom and sentry.

Oh also bulletproof armor, all over but you keep your weapons, With the instant healing from absorbing. I would prefer the people guns can at least kill, over the man throwing tanks, and helicopters, if he’s not driving/flying them.

I see someone Talking About cole Using the RFI in a Versus battle And let me just say no. If your doing a versus Battle You have to give The characters There basic equipment or If you do give bonus Equipment you have to give it to both characters.
Well that wouldn't be smart for Cole to use the RFI in a battle because if he uses it he would not only kill himself but alot of other people so yeah...I would not recommend someone use that if they use cole.

I agree with this. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love both Infamous and Prototype, hell I even prefer Cole as a character over Alex. You gotta remember Alex is very intelligent and he approaches fights differently depending on the circumstances.
If Cole and Alex randomly encountered and fought, it'd quickly become clear that Cole has the raw power output advantage and he'll use his superior speed to escape. He also has his armor as you pointed out. We know the core of Prototypes gameplay is disguising yourself as someone else, infiltrating places and getting the jump on your target.
Alex could hide for a while, consume somebody and use his sonar ability to find Cole then it's just a matter of killing him swiftly.
