I couldn’t put clean dishes in the sink to dry like that, I just imagine the germs that are inside the drain and I couldn’t have to clean dishes too close to it like that. I use a dishwasher but for the dishes I have to hand wash I rinse them with boiling water, then I wash and rinse one dish at a time then put it in the dish rack and then on to the next dish.

Your dishwasher hold germs as well. Do you pull it apart to clean the drain trap . where the food falls. It gets nasty down there and falls back on your food every time you wash your dishes. People with dishwashers don't know this.

Every time we had a dirty dish, we’d throw it in the hot water until we were all done (except for knives).
Then we had one person who would get the dishes, scrub them with more soap and then hand them to another person who rinsed them off, and then to another who dried them off, and the last who put them away. It was a team effort.

I do my glasses and coffee mugs first, then plates and bowls, silverware then the pots and pans w the nastiest ones being last and adding a bit of Dawn to the pot or pan when needed for extra scrubbing. I’ve worked food service for years now and if they’re not clean and sanitized after that process - then I missed scrubbing something off prior to putting them in the dishwasher, lol. My family and I do it just like you do. This is why I like double sinks because you can fill one side up with hot water and take from there, wash it, set it on the right side. Then I empty the left side, clean the left side, and start rinsing on the left. Clean dishes won’t touch the left side, they go straight to the drip rack. The sponge gets rinsed and gets a douse of white vinegar to prevent mold, rinsed again and squeezed as much as possible. It won’t smell like vinegar once it dries. The sink gets a nice hot water rinse after spraying it with Lysol and the hot water evaporates in less than 15 minutes. Towels aren’t ever used because we believe towels promote germs and mold, we only use it to wipe up any splash from rinsing the plates and utensils.

  • @Kalyn9o4

i put a splash of bleach in the dishwater with the soap. the bleach kills everyting, disolves small particles and discoloration (no spaghetti stained tuperware if you know what I mean). The bleach also prevents water/soap spots when dishes are drying and it cleans the sink for you so all you have to do is rinse it out.

I crochet, so in both my sons' houses they've done away w/ sponges all together. I made some "rags" out of frayless garden nylon twine that seems to last forever. The one in TX has been in use about 2+ yrs now, & the one here almost 9 months. They do pots, pans, dishes, sinks, & stovetops w/out scratching, or fraying. The spools are abt $2 e/, & make abt 4 "rags". If you know anyone that crochets, maybe ask them to make some? They're a simple rectangle of dbl stitches, any size. ❤ Rinse, let dry. No sanitizing necessary.

I use few things to cook usually, but when I use more than a pan and one utensil (which doesn't happen often when cooking for 8+ people)...I wash cast iron pans immediately after it's emptied and then utensils and the dishes and silverware we ate off of. I clean the sink first, fill the sink, clean the dishes and as I go rinse each and put them in a rack (cast iron and wooden utensils get dried immediately and not until the rack is full either). Nothing drip dries unless you count while I fill the rack. I drain the sink, clean the sink again and because I use wash cloths, it goes right in the washer to be washed.

      Do you take supplements?
I used to be this exact way plus some! Like I couldn’t deal with my laundry if I was dirty. And by dirty I mean not FRESH out of the shower.
Even then I’d have to wipe down my washer and dryer.
      Wash my hands.
      Open the doors.
      Wash my hands.
Remove clothes from washer without touching ANYTHING not even myself or I’d have to wash it again.
      Start cycle.
      Wash hands.
Take another shower before removing them from the dryer.
Wipe out basket (side note I can’t handle seeing people use their dirty clothes hamper and then put clean clothes in it. Gross!)
      Open dryer door.
      Wash hands.
      Grab basket and unload.
Fold carefully and put away without touching anything.
The point… I was bad. I was given a prescription for serotonin. I didn’t take it but what I did do was take a complex B vitamin from life extension. Then I started taking their 2
      A days with additional folate.
After 6 months I started feeling a difference.
I still can’t handle food in the sink but I’m not scared of my clean counter or washer and dryer. I was severely lacking in b vitamins. You might be too.
