i think it’s necessary because he’s actually recording it super quietly, up to the mic, to increase the power of the fundamental of his voice. kind of an illusion. you wouldn’t hear it like this in person

he is very amplified he just isn’t muddying the mix cos the others are way higher than him
@TH-camPizzer I agree that he is amplified, what I mean is that it is in a tasteful manner. It makes sense for him to be slightly louder because it's his video. A lot of the time basses who make duets like this will so loud that it detracts from the original video. His tone is also very soft and supple so he is also not overpowering in that aspect.

Editing and proximity effect can make literally any low tenor/average baritone sound like this. This is at least 50% inhuman, unfortunately.

Everytime I hear a bass 2 sing I’m in awe. Singing tenor is fun but hearing people go down and hit those first and second octave notes like nothin is jus fascinating. It’s like hearing a soprano 1 go above the staff.
