As a Mavs fan… Luka does not prefer to bang like a defender like Dort.. it takes energy from him.. he’s in heaven vs Mcdaniels because he can bully him and get to his spots

Not worried about them getting back to playing dominant downhill basketball. They’ve played like this all season. Big win followed by losing a let down games that should win.
Obviously it’s only Game 1, but man this was a frustrating one.
In a game where we had home court advantage, and Jaden / Kyle / Naz played EXCELLENT, the Mavs were HORRIBLE from 3, the Mavs had more turnovers and we led by 5 in the 4th and still lost.
Ant Man can’t be tired. Why does that always happen to him?

@@BlakeShady1017 Way too harsh. He took a hard and scary fall on his back. If he still has soreness, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm sure the adrenaline and desire to win in Game 7 second half overcame some of that, and he did a great job of dishing to the right people to win.
These wolves have shown they need to be a little pissed off to play with intensity. Everyone was hyping them up after the Denver series. This loss will piss them off.

The Wolves played horrible on both sides outside of Jaden, Kyle, and Naz was good on offense. That being said they lost by 3 and had no idea what to expect and adjustments will come. KAT wont shoot 22% from 3 and 30% on FG's.
Will MAVS shoot 24% from 3?

Will there role players who has been playing great the entire offs play ass and rely on Luka & kyrie to carry them ?

The Wolves defense is their calling card, not offense. They played bad on both sides. Will Mavs 3pts go up? Of course. Will they also outscore you in the paint by almost double? Not a chance. Your acting as though ANT and KAT collectively shooting 12 for 36 from the field is a normal occurence. Wolves lost by 3 with their best shooters hitting 33%. @@kvngbrev3737
@@WaRi-rd2weProbably not but they also wont score nearly as much in the paint if their shooting more 3's. And that likely leads to more rebounds. Mavs scored 108 with 24% from 3. Do you think their just going to score 130 a game against the leagues best defense?
@@RabbitOnKrack i know everyone is saying 'leagues best defense' but I just don't see it. OKC Defense gave Mavs way more trouble from the get go. Chet can actually protect the rim and JWill can actually guard Kyrie pretty well. I think OKC was a bigger test for Mavs matchup wise.
I would compare ANT to a Mike Tyson.
ANT is a power guy. Look at his build. ANTs built like a 6'4" running back.
The upside to POWER is explosiveness. The downside is quicker fatigue.
Especially when you have to chase smaller lighter guards around AND run the offense and be the teams #1 scoring option.
I believe ANT will always deal with this issue of fatigue because of his muscle makeup. Steph Curry can run in circles for days, but he has little power. ANT has power and can barrel through people, but his endurance has a cap on it.
Which is why it's important to understand your body and pick your spots to get rest throughout the game.

Re watch game from Conley "foul" and challenge LUCA 7-0 RUN with towns AND ANT on the bench... we waited to sub them in til after we gave up lead... flashbacks of to many bad losses. Conley (sorry hurting us - see last 2 minutes) and Jaden had pretty bad turnover, rudy had awful looking spin and fumble shot that hit no rim... Conley missrd a shot too after any one of those plays call a timeout and get one or both guys in.. it doesn't help Towns especially to amp up the pressure / tightness on his shots in the 4th... anyway I think the missed challenge alone disturbed our momentum a bit, can't have a lineup in the 4th giving lead away dependent on jaden mike and rudy.. would have felt better if Ant or Towns at least had been in getting the ball on at least one of those 3 possessions.... use timeouts to help fatigue I was shocked in last two minutes after seeing Ant post up in corner on a possessjon and then not touch the ball??? Win game 2 back on track lets go! Naw need ya on offense so can keep in on defense- secret weapon get KG in building!
People bringing up how the Mavs didnt make a lot of 3s like the Wolves werent contesting 90% of them
Everyone brings up the mavs poor three ball but ignore the difference in paint points. The Wolves hardly lose that battle, especially by that difference. It will interesting to see how and if that changes for game two.
All of the TV announcers were gushing over Dallas. It was hard to watch

I somehow feel confident in the series given we stayed in front of the Mavs most of the game and didn’t have our usual momentum swinging runs. And there’s no way ANT will play like that again, that was his most pathetic performance ever.

The timberwolves have given up 100pts or over in only 6 games this postseason. They lost 4 of them. They haven’t lost a single game where the opponents failed to break 100.
Meanwhile, Dallas is 9-1 when they break 100 and 0-4 when they don’t. The one game they lost while breaking 100 was when they erased a 30 point second half deficit and took a lead with 2 mins remaining only to fall a little short at the end. Total anomaly.
Hold Dallas to under 100, you win. Let them break 100, you lose.

I definitely underestimated the Mavs. Their bigs were very effective and played with energy.
If we can't keep them off the boards and play bigger we are in trouble.
Wolves were fortunate that they were hitting so many 3s. I didnt like that they kept settling for 3s and didn't drive at all. When they did and faked out Lively, they got easy pocket passes.
i would love to see naw not settle for all these missed 3s. i believe he has skill and can finish on his drives and midrange. i hate that he doesnt take those chances when they are available.
His handle isnt THAT good to be driving into traffic....he would turn it over as much as make a shot at the rim. 3 & D is his game with some offensive initiation.

Wolves looked gassed. If the Wolves can't bring their best, the Mavs are good enough to punish the Wolves mediocre and the Wolves will lose. Heavy load on the Wolves strength, training department this series.

Letdown after an emotional high and when this team gets longer time off between games and starts feeling themselves they are going to come out flat…yet, come out flat and still only lose by 3…let’s get back on the horse and win game 2 and take it from there

The Wolves didn't use their size effectively. They should have run a Hi-Lo offense with KAT at the FT line and Rudy down low. PJ can't stop KAT at the FT line and let KAT see the floor and either get it to Rudy, who needed to beat up Lively and Gafford. Ant still needs to drive to the basket and get fouls and hope that Jaden and Conley can hit the three. Get fouls, pound their active, but lighter bigs and get more traditional threes.
Something no one seems to realize is TWolves are not a physical team, and Mavs are a lot more physical than talked about. Really feel Mavs physicality is going to be trouble for Minny

Dallas isnt doing that and you know it because luka is a baby who cries at the slightest bit of contact and jokic would have slapped gafford and lively. Rudy tried to post up Gafford from the get-go and got stuffed right away 🤣Mavs defensive scheme the whole playoffs has been muck up the paint and close out shooters hard on the perimeter. Wolves actually had a good 3point game making 12 of those and those shots will still be there for guys like Anderson and McDaniels because Kidd will let them shoot. Guys like Naz, Conley, Kat, and Ant will be closed out on and will just have to settle for middies. Going by how the refs have called Game 1 and a majority of these playoffs, I dont think they can rely on trying to just penetrate and drawing fouls.

They kept destroying Dallas everytime they did the 4/5 pnr and they stopped doing it
Slowmo's best game this postseason. Jaden continues his hot shooting. KAT lays an egg - 6 for 20. Conley lays an egg, he was 1 for 4 from the FT line. Rudy couldn't rebound anything. ANT had an off night scoring again only taking 16 shots with 12 of them being 3's. They still should've won the game being up 4 with 3 minutes left, and you can only muster up 3 points the rest of the way to lose by 3 points. NAW hasn't played well either. He needs to find his mojo again. They should just put Conley on Kyrie so ANT doesn't spend so much energy chasing him around. NAW comes in off the bench for Conley pretty quickly anyways. That's the rotation they should use. I'll take my chances with Kyrie and not let Luka go off scoring and playmaking.
Finch cant sit Gobert for such a long time in the first half. Gobert needs shorter rest stints. He didnt play all that good, but his presence is just invaluable.

It’s not a big deal. They probably did like 80-100 lunges postgame. It’s how you maintain your athleticism during the season. Everyone does it, just happened to be cameras there this time.

Dallas is stacked and the Gafford / Washington trade deadline deal was missed by most, but IMO the best of any team by far. Lukai with 63 points, ANT / KAT at 35. Jaden McDaniels showed up again but 2 just points by NAW (again) is dreadful. Game 7 Denver he only had 1 assist the entire game. Kyrie has the best handles in basketball, but Ant is gonna be really challenged to keep up. Some gut wrenching fouls against KAT and Ant and Conley.
gafford was terrible last night. Lively outplayed him by a mile. If J Kidd has any sense, he wont play Gafford as many minutes as this series progresses
@@andyj952 Agreed. Gafford started out very hot and was critical to their 13-2 run at the end of the year. Washington was not, and now in the playoffs it turned around. But agreed that Lively being healthy is a huge threat.

I think it’s more them being on a high after beating the defending champs in 7 and flying back home and change their schemes in a day was the excuse. Guys haven’t been up against this style of basketball in a month and were making a ton of boneheaded mistakes.

Also, no matter what when it’s crunch time Mavs have the two best players on their side to execute at a high level.
